Congratulations on completing the trip, it looked great! Norway and Iceland have been on my list for a while so I’m looking forward to your next series! Also, love the swearing in the series, for some reason people hate swearing on my videos and I’ll never understand why! 😂
@R1_Liz11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’m so excited for Iceland 😁 I try to avoid swearing now, yes people do love it but the people that don’t complain the loudest - better for me to find more creative ways to be rude, but, somethings you do just need to shout the F word super loudly

It was a blast to follow along. As you say, there are no toll roads for bikes on the main roads.There are some toll roads, that you have to pay for on every vehicle, but those are more for providing upkeep of that actual road. There are some on the mountain range dividing the west from the east. I think it is quite astonishing, that you made that whole trip on a r-bike :D

I agree with KurtArdal,your travel to NorthCape in September show other riders that off season trips is smart travel !. In July,start of August (Preikestolen,Geiranger,Lofoten,North Cape,Ferrylines.) is overcrowded with tourists (cars,campervans,motorbikes,cruise ships,HurtigRuta Bergen-Kirkenes,osv). It easy to find a place to stay overnight (camping,AirBnB,Hotel,osv). You can get quick help from local BMW dealership (Trondheim,Stavanger,you also have a dealer in Bodø). Your travel bring back good memories from my first long distance trip to Italy in 2013 (Stelvio,Livigno,South of France) on my 2002 Yamaha Tdm900.Tree hot weeks in June/July 2013. Maybe you should ask Visit Norway to send Norwegian chocolate to England.

Okay, Yeah, glad you made it home in one piece. That trip seemed like quite an ordeal, plenty of up's and downs. More downs, than what I am sure you were liking, yet you prevailed and came thru it with flying colors. Not all sure that I would have even attempted it at that time of the year. Although, am not certain, what summers are like there. I said it before, yet this time I find it means so much more. You Are One Gutsy Lass. Huge Kudos to You.

I look back with such fond memories that my dad had to remind me that it wasn’t all roses 😅 I imagine summer is nice but the potential for wind and rain is always there, and in September I enjoyed quiet roads and lots of overnight availability, so I think I made the right choice even if the weather chased me home again.

Thank you, sounds realistic after following your trip. However you have to take the exchange rate into account. For years the pound was about 10 nok, now it's a lot more than that. 13.3 last time I checked. Which makes Norway a lot cheaper for travellers from the uk and the eurozone due to the weak krone.

Afternoon Liz, thanks for all the details on costs for your trip to Norway
@paulcrumpton9849 Жыл бұрын
Good video, thanks for that, think you managed to keep the costs very well considering it's Norway. The accomodation particularly was much cheaper than I imagined, gives me hope that our proposed trip to Nordkapp is a goer.
@R1_Liz Жыл бұрын
I was surprised how easy it was to get accommodation sorted reasonably, and most places were really lovely! Also if you’re travelling with people, it’s much cheaper - cabins are £50-80 a night and can house 3 or 4 people, lots of air bnbs costing £50 a night could have 2 or 3 beds included, so once you start splitting costs up it really can be cheaper to just not bother with camping
@paulcrumpton9849 Жыл бұрын
That's great info, my missus hates camping these days so it's good there's plenty of other options, bless air bnb

18k great stuff! Scandinavian countries are def more expensive. (Well maybe thats good for me...less beer😂) P.s Am looking at boots last few weeks. (Need waterproof adv boots. Plus have to investigate a larger tarp). One area I thought could save a lot is having your own dehydrated foods. E.g like a luxury pot noodle...take a lightweight bbq...

I got the Everest boots by Rev-it and they were faultless on this trip but there’s so many cool looking gore-tex boots out there I feel like I could be shopping forever and end up needing a storage container. I’ve seen these survival food bags and I’m sure they’re a great idea, I carried bags of noodles around and they got me out of a few hungry situations but mostly I’m happy to eat cheap petrol station foods, never get tired of a good meal deal either 😁
