Hey, I am a UK biker too, based in Essex. Your videos are amazing. I'll be touring holland soon on my Honda. Just me alone. I cant wait. It's the ultimate freedom.

Holland is so pretty! If you get a chance, visit de Efteling - its a theme part but it’s super quirky, I went as a kid and would love to go back again one day as an adult so it’s less spooky 😅

In Norway we have freedom to roam. Ie: You can hike and camp almost anywhere - including private property - as long as you don't disturb or create any damages. Gardens, yards and agricultural areas are off limits though, but that driveway you walked is no problem. Also, camping is only allowed for up to 48 hours at the same spot and you must stay at least 150 metres away from residental areas. Please also note that you have been travelling on numerous ferries, not boats... ;-) The tunnel you drove through south of Bergen (Lyshorntunellen) is 9,3 km wich isn't very long by norwegian standards (we have many longer ones, with Lærdalstunnelen currently the longest at 25 km). The second ferry you took before arriving in Stavanger will be replaced by Boknafjordtunellen witch construction started a year ago (almost 400 metres under the sea with a lenght of 27 km).

Solo and Gifflar. Now you only need a Kvikk Lunsj chocolate to qualify for your Norwegian passport. 🇳🇴 It’s been really fun to follow your journey. Especially today, that went past my home area (north and south of ferry number two.) hope you’ll get a nice ferry crossing tomorrow. 😊

Omg! I saw kvikklunsj in the petrol station and didn’t realise it was chocolate (I thought maybe it was a condensed sandwich or something) - if I see it again I’ll buy one

Totally wrong time (or rather month) to travel across Norway. I live in Oslo and did same route as you. All the way up to Nordkapp, visited Lofoten and a couple of other places up north before I headed back home. I was there for 2 weeks in July and the weather was awesome, had only 2 days with a bit of rain. If you ever come back, July is your month. June can also be pretty good, but July will be much warmer. You live and you learn :P

Yep, it’s my fault I love autumn and thought it’d be a treat to see the autumn colours (and it was) and that it’d be quieter on the roads (it was) - I also knew the temperatures weren’t too bad yet so even though I complained i sort of knew what I was in for, still wasn’t expecting to see ice on the roads 😅 now I know…

Hi Liz, I have really enjoyed this series of videos both from the trip, but also your dialogue with us. I find the discussions strangely relaxing, it appeals to my brain, for example “fluffy rocks” - makes perfect sense to me. Great journey, thanks for sharing

A fantastic achievement taking on this solo adventure that many people, including myself could only imagine trying to successfully accomplish alone. To limit one’s self to one’s self in an unfamiliar foreign land, for a significant length of time yet outwardly therefore noticeably grow so very much in confidence and enthusiasm speaks positively volumes about you Liz. Rock on and sincerely well done 🤘

Hey! Great videos, I am doing the same trip next year, any suggestion, routes, tips would be very appreciated
@R1_Liz Жыл бұрын
I did a pretty basic route, there’s so so many different places and routes you can take but be prepared for things to take a lot longer than you expect - I would usually get to 12-2pm and think realistically where I could end up and book the night accommodation- don’t over plan it or you’ll stress yourself out 😅

Did they not tie the bike down to make sure it stays upright? The panic in your face as you were trying to get away from that dog, chained up haha
@R1_Liz Жыл бұрын
Not on the little car ferries - you can usually leave your bike and it’s fine but today was quite windy so I had to stay with Pinky. On main border crossing ferries yes you tie the bike down
@apillow14 Жыл бұрын
@R1_Liz ah ok. Wasn't sure how long the journey was. The ferries over to Isle Of Man, where I live, all have ways of securing bikes but those are 3hr+ journeys

Having reached the European flat lands (and autobahns) my brakes seem to have fixed themselves and the noise is gone so I have to wonder if it was just Pinky throwing a tantrum over the speed limits of Norway

I will not be rushing to go to Norway on my own? Shit weather! Shit food ! High prices! It seemed more or a endurance ordeal then a holiday? Did you actually enjoy it??
@R1_Liz Жыл бұрын
The food is good! That’s more a reflection on me, I don’t like stopping for long so I eat on the go hence lots of service station meals and packet noodles 😅 I had a goal for this trip which involved long miles packed into a few weeks, I’m glad I achieved the goal, but definitely if I came back here I’d stay in one area and explore properly to get a better experience instead of a challenge 🥰
