Christopher Blackwell of Rescue 3 was the last interview heard on this video. He was killed on 9/11/01.. RIP brother, you will be missed.
@fdny35262 жыл бұрын
I know Chris Blackwell, I was in Engine 10 as a volunteer firefighter but on the morning of September 11th I was in school with my fellow FDNY volunteer firefighter friends/schoolmates, all of my friends that were volunteering in the FDNY including me heard our scanners report a 2nd alarm and then a 3rd alarm, when the multiple 5th alarms were transmitted my teacher turned on the television and that was after myself and my volunteer firefighter classmate group left for the WTC about a block in a half from the trade center, we got in our gear and took our book bags and headed to the fire, we saw the 2nd aircraft slam into the 2nd tower, once both towers were gone I got checked out at the hospital but spent a couple of weeks in the hospital but returned to school on September 24th 2001, they had purple and black bunting on the classroom doorway in memory of me, but when I got into class they breathed a sigh of relief that I was ok and I survived, for 8 months my firefighter friends and my fellow volunteer firefighter schoolmates spent digging for bodies and survivors trapped in the rubble of where the twin towers once stood, we found all 343 of our fallen brothers and 3,000 fallen civilians that died in the collapse of the twin towers, I believe on March 27th 2001 all of us returned to our routine which was going to work and school and going to fires, and we had memorial services at my school to commemorate the 343 firefighters we lost on September 11th 2001 while operating at Manhattan box 8087, I joined with guys from Engine 228, Engine 216 Ladder 108 Battalion 35, Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Rescue 3, and Randolph Mantooth’s crew on September 12th 2001 trying to help find all the deceased bodies, and we did and we had funerals for them for many months, the high school I spent my high school career in is long gone on Church Street in Lower Manhattan and had become something else, things have changed over the years ever since I graduated from that high school a year in a half after the attack. NEVER FORGET!

I was a Reserve Firefighter for a large Fire Department in the 1980's. And it was a fact that old school Firefighters thought that anyone masked up wearing a breathing apparatus was a "pussy and weak." This is why you never see Firefighters masked up in these old videos.

Who else came here because of the 9/11 survivor Tim Brown telling about his best friend Chris Blackwell from Rescue 1? I wanted to know this person because Tim told us about his personality and reputation and passion on the job..also wanted to see, if Tim Was Working there in 1991.. I didn’t recognize anyone here who could have been Tim. Sadly, back in ‘91 they didn’t write name and title on screen, when interviewing a person in a documentary.. so I can only speculate, who Was Chris..but glad they at least made one 🙏
