Hartford used that same Mack as Tac1 years back, and it remained a spare for years after. Love those things....so majestic going through the streets. Newer pieces don't seem to have that "Umph," and to listen to a real siren is so nice. Love these older videos, back when they used their ears as a thermometer to feel if they needed to back out.

@@petertomasicchiosr.7230 As a rookie my first footpost was right by the firehouse. Needless to say the Brothers took me in as it was freezing out. That started a wonderful relationship with them. Once I hit patrol we stopped by for breakfast or lunch. Many softball games between us and them over the years. Xmas parties etc Unfortunately 9/11 put the brakes on things. But a wonderful group of guys.

Is it me, or, are those rigs really loud. The other thing i noticed, their tournout pants! Looks a lot like regurlar pants. Yes, i know it went from regular pants to the hip boots, then to tournout pants. Watched a youger fireman catch fire with hip boots on. Put a ladder up over a window, and the window blew out, fire road the wall up, till his pants caught fire. Never saw anyone come down faster yet! Oh, he was ok, a little singed around the nether region, but i doubt he'd ever make that mistake again!!!.....

Where I work in West Hartford,CT is a medical facility that the FD is constantly called to. The first-due rig to my building is a quint..Ladder 4, they recently took delivery of. Looking out the 4th floor window toward the entrance road was when I first saw it, and it was fitted with a "roto-ray"...that was what first caught my eye through the trees as it came up the hill; of course now it's all LED, but it's nice that they brought those back.
