R211T's Were Delivered Early This Morning

NYC Transit's newest innovative design- subway trains with a gangway instead of doors between the cars; were brought onto the property. Five cars built under the R211T contract were hauled from South Brooklyn Marine Terminal by 3(1 was added to the end of the train after crossing 3rd Ave) NYCT work diesels via the South Brooklyn Railway and the West End Line to Coney Island Yard and will start undergoing testing soon.

Thank you! Yes, this is one of the connections to the national rail network. There is another one in Brownsville at Livonia Avenue, too.

Why is the r211t in the subway system now when the r211a has not entered passenger service yet

What about the ends of each set of three cars? Some of the MTA lines I've seen have eight or nine cars on a single train alone, with the longest being those on the J local line.

Eight car trains are 75-foot cars (two four-car married sets). 60-foot cars like these R211 run in pairs of five-car married sets. The only odd-number consists in NYCT service are the 11-car trains on the 7 line, comprised of 51-foot cars.

The R211T is currently at Coney Island yard. They'll install the gangways into the train there
