(edited) Thanks Adam, Ran into one of your instructors on the recent R44 Safety course. Nice to see you back with new video editing software and another great video. The G1000 really is hard to see the Airspeed but the attitude indicator really shows that a gentle visual flare can look steep on an attitude indicator.. not that anyone should be looking at it in the flair.

Who is Simon? Thank you. Agreed! That is a G500H btw - smaller version of G1000 (and G500H version for helicopters).

First of all, thanks I applaud you for dedicating so much time, knowledge, effort and energy into creating your videos. I have been watching, and more than just once mind you, every one of your very informative videos. They are so comprehensive I am quite positive after studying them, I could get into a basic chopper with enough knowledge and skill to be able to lift off, navigate through a novice obstacle course and land safely. That is of course pending the answer to one question that puzzles me and I can not find in any of the videos in the series where you have addressed it. I really want to fly but this one question deters me. So here goes. Does the pilot have to compensate for, or does the helicopter automatically compensate for, the earths rotation? You see, I know where I live on the State of Washington, around the 45° n lat. 117° w long., the earths rotational spin is from the west to the east at around 520mph or 763fps, so why when the helicopter ascends from earth does the ground not shoot out from under it? I mean for sure a 763fps spin would be very noticeable and fast. Ok after proof reading I notice there are three questions but they all do really pertain to the same answer. Thanks again Bryan

Thanks Bryan & sorry for the delay in replying. Good question. The earth rotates, but also the airmass close to the surface (where we fly) is for the most part moving with the earth. There is of course local and larger winds etc. But we hover in an airmass that is moving (for the most part) with the earth rotation. So as we take off, we leave the ground into the air that is rotating with the earth and do not have to worry about the rotation of the earth.
