Do you have to do anything special to the fuel line while you remove it?
@motormaniac13 жыл бұрын
@@KendraKjolseth It would be prudent to be prepared to catch any excess fuel. You should drain the gasoline tank BEFORE you attempt this. There shouldn’t be much fuel left in the lines as a result.

i have a 03 r6 that needs a fuel pump and i was thinking about doing it myself cus the shop wants 600 to do it, do you think the process will be similar since its only a year older
@motormaniac14 жыл бұрын
Greg Jordan The process should be almost exactly the same!
@motormaniac14 жыл бұрын
Greg Jordan Dont forget to check your pump filter! They’re only a couple of dollars and well worth the change.

When putting on the fuel assembly back on the bike I didn't see a gasket be put on before screwing it all back up. Is there supposed to be a gasket there?
@motormaniac15 жыл бұрын
jay to the ray yes! There is a small O-ring like gasket that goes around the fuel pump itself, to stop leaks.

Hey thanks man. I need to replace mine as the outlet broke. I figured there was gonna be something like the "little tab" in there to piss me off.

Dewderson That tab is such an absolute pain. But, I’m glad I could help! Good luck!

Question for you. Replaced plugs, coils and fuel filter. Bike still stalls and dies, gives rough idles, misfires on low rpms. Any ideas what going on with the bike? 11 R6 13000 miles.
@motormaniac14 жыл бұрын
Shaheer Q hmmm. I’m not certain. It could be a number of things. At 13,000 miles, it’s still too early for the timing of the cams to be severely off, so it’s more than likely not an internal issue. I would look at the air intake sensor, the throttle position sensor, ensure all of your vacuum lines are snug-tight, and double check your plugs and coils. You could check continuity to see if electricity is getting to the coils and plugs. You may have a wiring problem such as a frayed wire leading to the coils and plugs, causing them to be intermittent. When you rev the engine up a little, does the sputtering stop, and stalling go away? If so, it could be related to the TPS, aka the throttle position sensor, these need to be adjusted and cleaned regularly. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to take yours apart and clean it with some CRC electronic parts cleaner. I did that for my old 2004 R6 and it completely stopped a rough idle. It could cause stalling as well. It could also be that your idle needs to be set. My idle on my 2004 R6 was controlled by an idle screw. I had to physically set the pace at which the engine idled. It could be that the newer R6 is the same, and your bike simply needs to have the idle adjusted. However, misfiring at low rpms could be either the gasoline isn’t getting ignited within the engine (usually a spark plug or coil problem) or there is too much or too little gasoline coming into and out of the engine (faulty air intake sensors and throttle position sensors).

What if my fuel gose squirts gas out non stop once I remove the line ?
@motormaniac14 жыл бұрын
It will do that unless you get all the gas out. You’ve gotta drain the gas out before you take the tank off. I recommend siphoning, but running the hose to a bucket could work too!
@TheLegendaryLoso4 жыл бұрын
@@motormaniac1 most videos when they pull the gas line it shoots out a bit. Mine literally floods out non stop until I flip it upside down
@TheLegendaryLoso4 жыл бұрын
That's normal or is my fuel pump broken?
@motormaniac14 жыл бұрын
@@TheLegendaryLoso I’m not sure. I’ve always drained the tank completely before taking anything off. I would siphon all the gas out before taking the hose off. If the fuel pump is working fine, then I wouldn’t do anything to it, nor would I worry about it. Some setups might allow free flow, depending on the make and model of your bike, as well as the fuel pump and gasoline delivery systems.

You forgot the rubber gasket that goes back around the fuel pump after it's back in the tank. =(
