Fareed Hassan Niyazi hails from the musical lineage of the renowned Dilli Gharana, where his cradle was literally surrounded by the Stalwarts of renowned artists. He would hear the Khayals and Bandishes from his illustrious maternal grandfather “Taan Samrat” Ustad Naseer Ahmed Khan. He is the paternal grandson of sarangi maestro Ustad Mohammed Ahmed Banney Khan and the eldest son of Nizamuddin Khan. He took his initial Taleem under Ustad Zafar Ahmed Khan and subsequently by his father and uncle Tanveer Ahmed khan and now has been learning the intricacies of the gayaki under the tutelage of Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, the Khalifa of Dilli Gharana. He was also a finalist in Saregamapa Singing Superstar 2010.

Raag Bageshree is one of the most jovial and enchanting night Raags. It is the most favored raag among musicians and listeners. It is a popular raag of late night, which purport to depict the emotions of a woman awaiting for reunion with her beloved. Raag Bageshree leans towards contemplation, pathos, poignancy and yearning.
In Granthas its (Bageshri) name is Vageshwari. It is said to have been first sung by the great 16th-century maestro, Mian Tansen, the celebrated court singer of the great Mughal emperor Akbar.
Raag Bageshree belongs to Kafi Thaat.
The musical concert at historic Qutab Minar was organized at the initiative of Ved Gupta of Bazm-e-khas Foundation by Sur Adhar Music Festival.
