Kaguya Hourasain (to be confused with Kaguya-hime) is one of the Final bosses, and the real one at that, of Imperishable Night, the 8th installment of the Touhou Project. Copy paste Eirins video description here
Kaguya Houraisan is the princess residing in Eientei and the same Kaguya from the "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter", a famous Japanese folktale from which Kaguya's backstory is based. The stories are pretty similar actually. Go check out the original if you crave knowledge.
Kaguya's main spells are based on the five impossible requests she issued to her many suitors. These were: the bowl of Buddha, the jeweled branch, the legendary robe of the fire-rat (lol wut?), the colored jewels from a dragon's neck, and the seashell treasure of the swallows. However, only the Easy/Normal spells hold the name of the original request. Hard/Lunatic spells have variations of them. I like to point out one in specific, the jeweled branch (of Hourai). In canon this is the only REAL one of the five requests Kaguya actually owns and is normally portrayed as Kaguya's weapon of choice (See description for spellcard 170 in the wiki).
The jewel actually brings me to my next point. When it comes to doujins about the Eientei princess, personally I find Water Cushion unrivaled. His portrayal of Kaguya is that of a very calm and collected Kaguya that occasionally does mischievous, nearing Machiavellian, things. However, deep down she's slightly tormented by the fact she's trapped in eternity. To that I personally add a sadistic personality created due to her immortality. She is immortal, so she has grown to envy those who can die and to have little regrets about killing (Think Tohonifun's "Kaguya vs Mokou" doujin.) But the sadism is more like a double personality disorder than her actual self.
The quote at the top of the description is from the doujin "Yagokoro Syndrome" by Water Cushion, a doujin dealing with Kaguya's exile. It also gives a version of how she got the Jeweled Branch, saying that Fujiwara no Fuhito (Mokou's father) actually brought the real one and she had to swap it with a false one to reject him. Even more reason for Mokou to hate Kaguya, though canonically they are more like friendly rivals.

Conclusion: I like Kaguya as a character and her original artwork is one of the few I can say "Hey, that's actually not half bad" As for the battle, easier than in most parts Eirin's, but still a pain. Or is it really easier? They are both hard. Her fight is not nearly as epic as Remilia, Yuyuko, Utsuho, or even Eirin, but is not bad. I like it over Kanako's though.
And with this video I end this playthrough. Mokou's no-death/pacifist/whatever can wait some other time. Next time I'll tackle either MegaMari (Touhou fused with Mega Man) or Rosenkreuzstilette (Mega Man clone NOT related to Touhou) Also, I should give credit to all the artists, composers, circles, etc. that had to do with the music I used. Particularly to dBu music, since I used nearly the entire Eternal Nocturne album like there was no tomorrow. Thanks

Okay, I've never played Touhou once and I only know it from the songs...I'm a gamer myself, but every time I look at one of the Touhou fights on KZbin, it intimidates me too much to try to play it! Seriously, this game looks so hard! Half the time, I don't even know what's happening!

It is overwhelming at first, but practice makes perfect. Also, there is an easy mode which is great for learning the ropes.

Believe me I could not even get the good ending in Imperishable Nights at first when I started playing Touhou games but now it takes me almost no effort to clean the game without using continues and actually even dying much on Easy level. It's all about practice.

Point taken~, but she is also being actively pursued by emissaries from the moon, although that part is vague too... X3 I just wish ZUN would put out more backstory so that learning why certain characters act like they do would be easier. Like when SA had the parts explaining the reasons Orin had caused the evil spirits to go above ground for Utsuho's sake, I loved that bit. ^^~

first playthrough its eirin, 2nd play through will be kaguya, on the others, u will get eirin if u used 1 continue, if u got through last stage without usin a continue, u will get kaguya as final boss

Would like to thank you for that "Caution" bit, first off. Kaguya's definitely a very beautifully made character, white face, black hair, good contrast. The dress's almost physics-defying shape adds to that. One of the most elegant characters in Touhou, for sure. Probably only second to Eirin and Iku in my book. (Kanako and Satori only come off high class, not elegant, IMHO.) Looking forward to your next gameplay runthrough, of course. And Mountain of Faith is an awesome spell card, BTW. X3

Imperishable Night featured partnership teams. Illusionary Border is Reimu/Yukari, Aria of Magic is Marisa/Alice, Visionary Scarlet Devil is Sakuya/Remilia, and Netherworld Dwellers are Youmu/Yuyuko. The human character is used in unfocused mode, when focused, the youkai/phantom character is used.

The first time you complete it, the last stage boss will be Eirin, the second time you beat the game with the same team, it will be Kaguya the last stage boss, then you can choose the ending you want, or the boss you want to fight

You have good timing. :P Odd that the "Lunatic Princess" would be called as such, but, I guess there are multiple sides to the same story. Eirin has a reserved elegance, I would say, that only wavers when Kaguya is endangered by some circumstance. But yes, formidable indeed. ^^;

Yeah, I wonder what Eirin's back-backstory is, pre-Kaguya. Kaguya being unaware of Eirin's feeling because she doesn't show them...Not sure what I think there, I had before thought Kaguya to be sharper than she appeared, because Eirin was her mentor, but I suppose for that same reason she could be ignorantly innocence and pure, too. And on top of that, the situation with Mokou arose, ouch. x.x;

Duuuuuuuuuude, How the eff do you even capture Kaguya's first spell? She just gave me a hell of a night with it. Got it after 295 tries in spell practice. Normal mode. ~90 ordinary fails and 200 tries of my special strategy of flying directly beneath NEET's gown and kiting her left/right/L/R/L/R while avoiding point-blank danmaku. Ended up 1/450 cause I couldn't recreate my capture. Maybe I'm just sleepy. Good thing I saved the replay. Anyway it was harder than Reisen's Last Word (~1/120)...

Like I said before, it's hard to tell why a character acts a certain way when I only know a little of their backstory. You seem think of that "elegance" and beauty as would be seen in a cold, harsh princess, though. Fooling the heroines I don't think is too terribly difficult, though... ^^; Maybe I just am naive, but I don't think Kaguya's that way, not completely at least.

Go for lunatic. From first hand experience, touhou 8 lunatic is quite simple to understand after practice, especially since you have the ability to practice spells individually.
