Simple, is it in Torah or not?! What is the first known usage of Tikkum Olam, I don't remember it in Torah?

Never does Rabbi Sacks use the expression "tikkun olam," because this is a foreign concept to Torah Judaism. It is a concept created by Reform.
@lsatenstein
@lsatenstein 4 жыл бұрын
It is a Jewish concept. All Jews have a soul, and it is our soul that reaches out to perform. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Tikkun Olam is part of our soul.

He does use it, and it is a Torah Judaism concept. It comes from the ethical mitzvoth of Deuteronomy and the phrase is coined by the Rabbis of the Talmud. The idea of lifting up the sparks to heaven comes from Lurianic Kabbalah from Sfat in the 16th century. Reform Judaism expanded the concept in the 20th century. Now it is critical Torah because we must heal the world from climate change and the other abuses we humans have perpetrated on G-d's Creation.

Haiti: Why couldnt the people of Haiti get their own people water? why do they need help getting water from down the street, in their own country? Rwanda: why do those people not live according to a civil standard of right contact and conduct? why cant they build their own youth camps? What benefits or disadvantages does it have in the long run to fish for them rather than teach them to fish?

People who are traumatized need help from those who are not. The Torah says we must care for all those who need help, and we are not allowed to judge them for how they got to that place. The goal is always to reach the highest level of Tzedakah, which is to teach them how to fish. There are many stages on the way there. Infrastructure is invisible to us, but we are supported in so many ways that we don't realize. If no one you know owns a vehicle, or the vehicles have been destroyed by earthquake or flood, or there isn't any fuel for the vehicles, and you don't have the barrels and jugs and other containers for water, and you have to walk 15 miles while you are starving and dehydrated, see how that works for you. And your children.

you hear something often enough you begin to believe it. the hatred began a long long time ago. and has continued then waned and now it appears it is back and getting stronger - especially in europe but i have noticed it more in usa in recent years. the first WW was blamed on them.

They tend to amass great amounts of power (much in the form of media) and wealth in their host countries while still claiming to be victim. They are a highly cohesive ethnic group while denouncing ethnic cohesion of the European countries they mainly reside in. They've been kicked out of 109 countries and counting and no real explanation is offered as to why except for "racism". If a dude you met was kicked out of 109 bars and blamed it on the bar owner each time, would you not begin to question whether the man's actions were always as pure as he said?

@@KN-px5pw Catholics, Protestants, Hindus etc have been expelled from 100+ nations. Perhaps a dozen per nation since its founding. Give us some numbers. Further, what actual crime have they committed? Contrary to popular opinion most wealthy people dress ordinarily. My Dad's worth between 1-2 million and still dresses like he earns minimum wage. Apart from a 10yr old Mercedes outside his house you wouldn't have a clue about his true wealth. You want to throw him out too? Why not, he's guilty of the same "crime" ??

For the (critical)commentators: There is difference between the Jew and Jew of actual Jew that God made for us, Just look up the Shabbad org for example, they clearly are not the communist breed that have caused hardship to a God by doing exactly what is not needed, as there is Estonians pretending to be Estonians, doing in our country, what is not needed for our development not for Kingdom of God

This is why Judaism is so good, so beautiful, and why the Jewish people have given so much to the world. And I am not an uncritical fan of Israel. Many of the things it does and supports are the antithesis of what I think of as Judaism. But I honour people like this and other rabbis, and my wonderful, life loving and life enhancing Jewish friends. And I am Catholic, but I recognise where the best and deepest roots of my religion draw their source.
