Dragon Quest was not a Square franchise when FFI came out, it was an Enix franchise. So it makes that easter egg more of a stabb at a competitor than a reference to themselves.

Aye. Plus, Dragon Quest was and still is huge in Japan, but it flopped hard in North America when they tried introducing it. I remember because Nintendo Power was giving copies of the game away for free with subscriptions and I had lousy timing so I _missed_ that deal. XD Err... the point being that makes it hard to tell if the jab in the English localization is intended to be more or less controversial.

@@sinmenon4347 No, actually that IS a thing, dude/lady. They literally CAN'T release Dragon Quest games in Japan, on weekdays, or workdays, because kids will cut class, and adults will skip out on work, just to buy the newest Dragon Quest game. This is SERIOUSLY a thing, in Japan, it being one of Japan's biggest game franchises, with character/monster designs from the legendary Akira Toriyama, creator of the also legendary Dragon Ball franchise, helped design Chrono Trigger, one of the best JRPGS ever made, and was, I think, one of the original members of the Dragon Quest team, so his work's always been there. Being seen in Dragon Quest. Which is an awesome series, fyi. I haven't played enough DQ games yet... I've only played Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, Dragon Quest 5: Hand Of The Heavenly Bride, and my personal favorite, Dragon Quest 8: Journey Of The Cursed King, on both the PS2, and the 3ds version. The Infinity Mystery sounds like something that would fit in a standard detective game where you get small clues throughout only for it to be a big deal towards the end, so making it a random Easter Egg that most players will never know exists is insanity, and I love it.

In _The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind,_ you can find the corpse of Indiana Jones. In Omalen Ancestral Tomb, you can find a skeleton crushed under a giant boulder and a note called "A Dying Man's Last Words" says: "It's been many days since the collapse. I have had many good and exciting adventures. I fear this is the last. I am still unsure what happened. Was it a trap that caused the collapse? I didn't hear the click of any device. Perhaps it was simply a freak accident, and I was simply in the wrong place at the right time. Regardless, I now lie here, half buried in the collapse, with crushed legs. The pain was unbearable for the first day or so. Or was it? Who knows? You lose track of time in a place like this. Especially in a situation such as this. The pain has all but left though. Getting used to pain is a battle all in itself. My time now runs short. I will die here, in this tomb. No better place for a dead man. My adventures have taken me all over. I have been places that man never knew existed. I have retrieved artifacts and fine treasures that were thought to be myth. From chalices of origins long lost, to gems with power unthought of by man, to powerful religious artifacts that house more interest to madmen than sane. I shall at least take these fine memories with me to the grave. I shall miss my father. Like me, he was also a man of adventure. I followed in his footsteps, though I was blessed with far more luck than he. Until now, of course. He shall be on his own now. At least I am spared any more jokes about my childhood pet. And my students...how I treasured teaching them the secrets and alien concepts of all things unknown and mysterious. May they be successful. I do not go down along [sic] though. With my crippled body, in this heap of earth, I am accompanied by my trusty leather, my steel, and most of all, my token hat. Unable to reach them under the mass, I know they are untouchable and safe. I will not die alone. Farewell, Indie" The text of the note has many clear references to Indiana Jones - the "leather" being his whip, his "steel" being his pistol, his "token hat" being his fedora, and of course the note is signed "Indie".

That same Toad also teases Super Paper Mario if you go back to talk to him after you beat the game. He says he beat the sequel to The Thousand Year Door and that you shouldn't miss it if you're a Luigi fan.
@shawnfields23694 жыл бұрын
@@ClefairyRox Is that really what that one toad is referencing? I thought he just meant another Thousand-Year Door game... I mean, I love the Thousand-Year Door. It's one of my favorite games to go back and play over and over again, to the point where I always keep an open save slot, so i can go back and play it all the way through again. At least i used to, until my old tv literally exploded, and then that was it. I don't know how he's teasing Super Paper Mario, though. I mean, I am a fan of Luigi, but in the game, he's just getting the usual Luigi treatment, getting stomped on, getting pushed around, getting captured, he even gets mind controlled by the real villain, Dimentio, and they fuse together, to become the real final boss, Super Dimentio. Which was creepy; and kind of frustrating the first time I played it. And out of nowhere, since Count Bleck decided to stop being evil, when he finds out Tippi is his lost girlfriend, or wife, I forget which. But, it's a great game. I didn't expect a Mario game of all things, to have such a Final Fantasy-esque story at the end, and have it work so well. The Mario RPG'S, are not only some of the best games out there, they're some of the best RPG'S out there, and have some of the best characters and character development, and some of the best stories put into Mario games ever, too. And have some of the best moments, and best songs ever put into an RPG. I hope there's more Paper Mario RPG'S that are good again, like The Thousand-Year Door, or as good and have a story with as many moments, both sad, and funny as Super Paper Mario. Sticker Star needs to be thrown into the garbage, and Color Splash needs to learn a few things from the past Paper Mario games(excluding the horrendous Sticker Star), if they want to even make a memorable Paper Mario game again... anyways, sorry for the long ass ramble. I really love the Paper Mario games, except for the dogshit smeared on toast equivalent, Sticker Star.

@@shawnfields2369 It is true that Luigi got kind of dunked on in SPM, but it's also his playable debut in the series and he is without a doubt the most broken character in the game (well, aside from Peach being able to block every attack with her parasol making her very good against most bosses). The first time I played Super Paper Mario I was disappointed that he became playable so late, but once I got older I realized it was because he can cheese almost all of the platforming with his Super Jump. Seriously, replay some of the earlier levels with Luigi. It's insane how much stuff you can skip with him. He's also very important to the story this time, whereas previously he was either left at home or on his own adventure and you had to go out of your way to talk to him to hear what he was up to.
@shawnfields23694 жыл бұрын
@@ClefairyRox I get it, dude. It makes a lot of sense. I went back and played some levels with Luigi before, and yeah, he can pretty much fly over everything. Even better than Peach, with her parasol of awesomeness, that already lets her fly, and gently float. But, I was also glad that you could play as Bowser, Peach, Luigi, and take then on a journey with Mario, rather than the Princess getting kidnapped, AGAIN, for the 857th time; in a row. Yeah, he's important to the story, and I'm a fan of that too, and Luigi's always been one of my favorite Mario characters; though I wish the mind control with Dimentio didn't happen though. You do make a good point though, dude. Still hoping for another Paper Mario RPG, like The Thousand-Year Door, or Super Paper Mario. Well, there's Paper Jam, on the 3ds. Which is like combining the Mario & Luigi RPG games with the Paper Mario games. But, my thumbpad cover is broken, so I can't really play it. Plus, it's kind of clunky, getting used to controlling 3 characters at the same time. My timing is not very good. Why can't we just use the d-pad to control the characters movements? The thumbpad feels slippery. Like my hand's about to slip off everytime. I didn't mind Luigi, getting dunked on most of the time, because it was funny, but the final boss thing, was unexpected. And when you fought when he was Mr. L, that was pretty good too, actually. I was never disappointed by this game. I get why anyone would, though. It's too similar to other Mario games, it's lost a bit of itself, and it's luster, that previous games had, like the party members with personality, like Goombella from The Thousand-Year Door, or any of the party from that game, but Bowser, Peach, and Luigi have enough personality to sort of balance it out, and I replayed certain moments in the game, with different characters, to see what kind of response they'd get. It was hilarious. Some weren't that good, but it was alright. I'd love to play it again sometime. But, I don't have the game or my Wii anymore... I think that my Wii is in storage, but I definitely don't have SPM anymore. Man, that sucks...

POSTAL 2 has some interesting eggs, especially when you turn enhanced mode on. Some of my personal favorites: - The owners of Running with Scissors, the company behind these hell games, put themselves in the game. This is obvious. Less obvious is that Mike J. will dance as groovy techno music plays in the background if you piss on him. - Also piss related: in Paradise Lost, there's a new grave in the graveyard for the beloved bookcase from the original game. If you piss on it, the bookcase will reanimate and fight you. - There's an area by Paradise Mall where you can hop a fence and get out of bounds. RWS discovered this and, rather than fixing it, they made it so that a dumpster falls from the sky and blocks your path if you try to take advantage of it. - Also Paradise Lost, if you hop into the attic of a certain house you can find a little jab at that game Akella made. - In modern versions of the game, there's a hidden area in Paradise Mall that will take you to a game store called "Steme", located in the distant future. There, you can obtain a copy of POSTAL: Redux, and interacting with it from your inventory will trigger some reprised lines from Rick Hunter's role in the first game! there are honestly so many more but these are the best in my opinion

I always like it when big budget, AAA games use an Easter Egg to give a shout out to a lesser known indie game. Indie games themselves tend to do the opposite and take a bit of time to reference a game that gave them inspiration, but I always smile when a larger team takes the time and effort to say, "Yeah, we know this game as well and we love it." I bring this up because I just recently discovered a really good one in Uncharted 4's story mode. When Drake and Sully make their way to a bustling marketplace in Madagascar to follow up on a discovery, you can explore a bit beforehand with some nice little side stuff to interact with. If you wind up inside of a packed border patrol office a bit off of the main path, Sully says, "Jeez, we have THAT to look forward to when we get back to the States." To which Drake blows my mind and replies, "It could be worse; Could be Arstotzka." The fact that I heard Nolan North, one of my favorite voice actors, give a solid and sincere nod to Papers, Please, one of my favorite indie games, made me so damn giddy inside.

I think that war torn pokemon game is called Pokemon Conquest or you might be thinking of Pokemon Coliseum

Number 2: Ladies and gentlemen, the precursor to the SCP Foundation! (I don't really know that, but those mannequins do follow the same pattern as SCP 173, who happens to be the very first SCP ever created.)

Nah, Peanut (aka SCP 173) was the first SCP written and published, and was created either a few months before or a few months after Doctor Who's episode featuring the Weeping Angels aired. Series 1 SCPs are old.

The secret level in Limbo or the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight should’ve been on here. Both are super secret levels that are ridiculously hard compared to the platforming that came before

Top 5 games that exceeded expectations or Top 5 biggest shifts in tone in video games could be fun topics, maybe. I dunno.

Um, Dragon Quest isn't a Squaresoft game, the franchise was created by Enix, who didn't merge with Squaresoft to create Square-Enix until after Dragon Quest VII and Final Fantasy XI were released in the early 2000s.

I am kinda sad that the Silent Hill 4 easter egg was the rabbit one, since there are a few references on the radio, including one stating one of the devs getting drunk and doing something embarrassing I forget. The Room has a lot of goofy easter eggs now that I think about it.

Alex Lee I remember him stating that he’s played every FE game except Gaiden, but don’t quote me on that.

@@amirgarcia547 I'm pretty sure he said he's played and *enjoyed* every Fire Emblem game except for Gaiden. He said "That game sucks". The video that was in was posted long before Shadows of Valentia was released, though. But he also put SoV on his list of bad games with great stories.

I like the one in Half-Life 2 where Alyx tells you that if you’re enjoying this video then you should subscribe and hit the bell for more like it.
