Once again Rabbi Sacks as only he can illuminates the human condition and provides us with a deeper understanding of ourselves and a stronger basis for hope in the human future. In all my many years of studying and reading to better understand the world I have never met a teacher so wise and inspiring as he is. May his memory be for a blessing.

I totally agree that children are one if not the best that can happen to you at least it is true for me. But that religious people have more children is due to the fact that it is told to them that they must have a lot of children. that this is the sense of sexuality , that you are not allowed to take contraceptivs or how you call that in English. so it is clear that religious people have more children as also abortion is totally forbidden, Beside I totally diasagree that having children is a matter of sacrifice- it is just a matter of point of view. I cannot find the slightest sacrifice. Whatever I have done for my children was from my heart and I am so grateful to them that they are here. They were my greatest and wisest teachers- no sacrfice but pure joy. seeing those beautiful souls . having the opportunity to grow with them and being grateful that I can give them the possibilities to be unconditionally loved and apprediated so that they have the best basis for life. This is a present and not a sacrifice. You are an intelligent man and know a lot but here I totally disagree with you . I do not know from where you have those data but I personally do not know any parent also non religious being unhappy with theri children the opposite is true and I live in Europe. and I also see a lot of really good and nice parents at least in my city no sacrifice at all. You do not sacrifice nothing when you get something so much better..

Truly superior! Still wondering how great empires have gone...well, there's your answer...As the 'religious' or 'spiritual' foundations of any empire, state, decline and disappear..you can start setting the clock on their demise....

Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and pouertie, but thou art rich, and I know the blasphemie of them which say they are Iewes and are not, but are the Synagogue of Satan. Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Iewes, and are not, but doe lie: behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feete, and to know that I haue loued thee. Time is short!
