That was too cute. I had a 2yr old mini lop rabbit when I got my Dachshund pup. I always let the bunny get the best of Angel when she was little. She learned to respect him as the Alpha animal. they lived in harmony for 10 years. Angel was sad when her little buddy died.

This dachshund has the instict to hount. He keeps the rabbit at the wall, but since he has never been taught to attack, and has never seen his parents attack, he doesn't know how to attack. He seems to be young. So he has to be taught bey the owner, that the rabbit is part of the family, He has to be taught to sit, while feeding the rabbit, so he learns that the rabbit is a memeber a not a hountig object. If this is consequent he will consider the rabbit in time as someone he has to defend.

The secret to dachshund - rabbit - cat peace is to bring a puppy up with these other creatures. To a friend's shock and surprise, on visiting a house with a cat, the cat tried to dominate his standard dachshund and clawed it's nose ... the dog reacted by chasing it through the house and caught and killed it in just a few seconds. Up to that time, the dachshund never troubled cats (and the cat always succeeded in dominating visiting dogs ...)

Haha, that's awsome. Actually some of the smaller ones were used to hunt rabbits. Probably why ours went nutso when he discovered rabbits living under our toolshed. But you are right, this one is only playing. Love how when the doxie gets too excited, he just defaults over to toy attack. Ours does that too. XD

We have two rabbits and two cats. The rabbits we had first and at the age of a year and a half we got the cats when they were 11 weeks old. The bunnies are in charge though! Hah hah! They do actually get on.
