Maggie's kits are now 3 days old as we take a look in this update. We also have a look at a runt that came close to dying a few days ago.

Glad to see them doing so well. mine are 4 days old today. Cueball was bread to my brown buck Buster. she has 4 dark and 3 white kits. How many does Maggi have. I don't remember.

Maggie has 9. Grace had 10 but lost one last night, so 9 in each box now.

Does Maggie's nestbox have a top to it? I haven't seen an open one like that before. We have a first time mamma rabbit that's having a hard time figuring out that she has to nurse her kits, so we're having to help her with that. It just occurred to me that her nest box might be too long/narrow or not tall enough for her to get in the right position above the kits. And then I remembered seeing Maggie's nestbox open like that and wonder if that would help.

Hello been watching a lot of your videos. Good job, I must say, but please specify the units of measures, especially temperatures each time you mention them.
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments Alvin. All the temperature units are in Celsius add I live in Canada and I'm to old to change it to Fahrenheit lol.

As not add

Lol......I am in Ghana and we use Celsius too but sometimes one needs to be sure not a good idea to assume when you are learning for me you are my professor in Rabbit so I watch your video a lot in preparing myself for a commercial rabbit meat production operations hopefully next year. So I pay attention to everything you say.

What do you feed them
@FoodForThought.4 жыл бұрын

When you say "minus 9", do you mean Celsius or Fahrenheit? I'm in Northern Michigan and I'm always interested in what other cold weather rabbitries do to deal with the winter weather.
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
I'm talking Celsius. So when we had it at -30 last month it was tough keeping them warm but we just changed the water for times a day, kept two heaters going 24hrs and they did the rest. Water is the toughest part of winter as it the rabbits have no water they stop eating.

+Wilderness Twins I've fought with freezing water for years. I'm always hoping to find someone with a better idea. Thanks for the reply!

I bred one of my rabbits a couple of weeks ago and I caught her yesterday trying to mount another female. Does that pretty much mean she isn't pregnant?
@FoodForThought.7 жыл бұрын
+Austin Floyd No, it would be a dominant action. Pregnant does can get very territorial.

Do u give them tap water or clean water?
@FoodForThought.7 жыл бұрын
+Psycho Gorilla I prefer rain water but tap water will do in the winter.
@alliescott55985 жыл бұрын
Psycho Gorilla obviously clean water? What kind of question is that

finally got my rabbits on Saturday. 1 buck, 2 does. the first doe breed quick and easy, the second one is having no part of it. tryed twice already. any help?
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
how is the second doe reacting? Is she aggressive or just not lifting?
@nascardad19808 жыл бұрын
+Wilderness Twins, not really being aggressive, she runs around like trying to get away and when he does get a good position, she isn't lifting
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
Try her again but when she starts running around, take a hold of her so the buck can get to her back. If she doesn't lift, slip your other hand underneath her belly to lift her slightly. There are some good videos on this technique.
@nascardad19808 жыл бұрын
+Wilderness Twins, I've been looking for some. And I'm going to try it out. Both doe's will be first time moms. I read where sometimes they can be hard to breed the first time. Awesome videos by the way. I'm trying to catch up on all of them lol

This is incredibly sad and sickening. You don't raise rabbits for meet they are friendly, lovey companions not food. This is SICK. Poor guys they don't even know there gonna be killed so meanly. Honestly you should be sick at ur self. This ugh I can't think of it. Hope you realize how sick you are and anyone who raises rabbits for meat

Jennifer Cawte just because someone's against raising bunnies for meat it doesn't mean they're vegetarian!
@spookyscaryskeletons69507 жыл бұрын
Jason Richards I agree
@kellyanderson63636 жыл бұрын
Just cause you don't eat meat doesn't mean the rest of us can't stop worrying about what people eat, there's nothing wrong with it. We did it for years and i'm damn proud to have a husband that provided us with are food. If you were stranded in the wilderness or moutains somewhere you would starve unless you killed and people like you are probably dumb enough to die for an animal..
