I’ve been watching this channel for years now. You have great ideas. I’ve started doing meat rabbits because you’ve made it look easy.

I'm glad I have helped a little. I too haven't long started and I am enjoying having people come with me on this wee adventure.

Thank you. Great way to do it. I have been really worried about flies in my small rabbitry. I'll make a couple tomorrow.

Honestly I've been watching your videos with the sound off and this is the first time i listened to this one because I was interested in how to make the fly trap. Dude, I didn't even know you 're British until just now. I've only been watching the rabbits to make myself relax with the sound off!

lol. cool way to relax

I can't see why not

That actually makes sense...dried coke also makes a good fly attractant. The sugary liquid attracts them and keeps loading them in.

Definitely trying this one this summer, thanks :)

nice fly trap, i was wondering: does it matter whether or not i fill the bottle with water above the piece of meat? is it ok if the meat is under water? or would that cover the smell of the meat inside the bottle?
@FoodForThought.6 жыл бұрын
ViralHorses I would have thought that it would still smell

I have seen traps very similar to this before but they don't catch anywhere near what you had in yours. Do you think its possible that the majority of the flies in there were from larva laid in the bait by only a few flies?
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
Some yes, but it was only in the shed for 4 days so I don't think so.

You mentioned that you use your Samsung note 4 for the vid's. What app do you use to put them together with if I may ask?
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
+Charlie Blum The editing app I use it VivaVideo Pro. It's a basic program without all the bells whistles. I just needed something I could edit a little.

Very simple and inexpensive. The commercial versions like that work but are pretty pricey. You should be able to make ten of these for the price of one store version.
@DeRien87 жыл бұрын
that would be a great way to collect insect fodder for chickens too

Go gives this a go Eddie. Did you say to put it at base of rabbitry,so on ground level? I live in Australia and fly here can just about carry you away.
@FoodForThought.4 жыл бұрын
I believe you Jimmy, I have a service busy in Australia and he says the same lol. You can put it anywhere. If flies are really bad use one low and one high, but if using meat as an attraction, then they will find the rotten meat either place.

Interesting but do you just lay it on the ground under your bunny hutches or hang it ? N cant see the taped end good.. Its just taped around the edge? Seems flies could get bak out easy with whole bottom open . But hey.. Flies arent smart, lol.
@FoodForThought.8 жыл бұрын
+mari presta As you can see, the bottle if full. As you say, flies aren't that smart.

A couple of geckos or anoles can take care of the flies, and with a steady in-coming supply, they will stay inside the rabbitry.

John Lord Great idea but I don't have a gecko, just a dollar store lol

Do you have a way to get rid of the different crawling bugs that live in and on the rabbit poop? They pretty much get into and onto everything.
@FoodForThought.7 жыл бұрын
Bill Gebhart All you can do is keep the poop to a minimum.
@FoodForThought.7 жыл бұрын
You can always try putting on diatomaceous earth in the poop, which will kill the bugs and will compost too.

wow I wish I would have seen this before buying expensive ones at the feed store that I have to clean out, the smell and mess is yucky! These just toss and make a new one! Thanks
@FoodForThought.9 жыл бұрын
+nednibor You are so right, these traps stink after a few days to a week. They just get thrown out and make a new one.
