Thanks for watching guys - So this rig is specifically for FrogLeap stuff, as it definitely the most suitable rig for the job, I’ll still be using my Chapman’s too, and of course my Kraken stereo amp setup for everything else. But damn this stuff is good and lots of fun!

I'd highly suggest that you check the line6 website for presets and thoroughly investigate the different things they do before you just go and pick components and build a patch. It sounds great but it can sound so much better.

Saw you guys live last year in Düsseldorf, and it was fucking amazing. We were not only blown away by the compositions but also the pragmatic use of your Shurikens and Line 6 Gear in combination. For our coverband we slowly migrate over to a similar setup you are using (saving up dough though^^). We are really stoked. We are going to be very busy..... :D

Hey, Bea - looks like you're using patches to switch tunings etc. There's a much better way to do it (I'm assuming you haven't tried) - snapshots. No switching gap, and it gives you delay/reverb trails too.
@masondixon17186 жыл бұрын
Snapshots are dope!

I just use a digitech drop.
@masondixon17186 жыл бұрын
I use a digitech drop in front of my Helix. Great for changing tuning... However, snapshots allow you to change amp channels and turn on/off assigned Helix pedals for a specific sound that you create with that snapshot. It's the best feature of the Helix in my opinion. For instance... If you want to go from clean with a reverb pedal to dirty with three different pedals, all you have to do is step on one footswitch, and there's your sound.
@masondixon17186 жыл бұрын
I don't use Helix for it's amp models, but as a pedal board with snapshots going in to my amp it's fantastic.

Something to watch out for..... i use the helix in stereo w/dual pitch shifters so i can go from Eb to standard tuning sometimes without having to refloat the bridge and just about every time I do, within minutes one of the shifters freaks out and starts doing interval harmonies and the only way to fix it is to dump the preset and reload it (the controls do absolutely nothing until you reload the preset) also find the tracking to be pretty glitchy when setting the shifters to B standard

My Line 6 POD HD 500 could also do this with the pitch shifter assinging it to a button on the pedalboard, however if I tuned it bellow 1 step the end result would be too "digital sounding". I don't ear that in this case, seems way better. Very nice.

It sounds way better when just dropping the guitar tuning up or down in the Helix/Variax if you just use the pitch block on the helix. The Variax gets all sorts of overtones that cross blend across strings when you palm mute. So just using the pitch block is way better sounding.

So, you can tune to a tuning where the string tension feels the most comfortable, regardless of the scale length vs your preferred string gauge, and then make it sound like whatever tuning you need for a given application, that sounds pretty useful.

Would be interesting to know how you'll be setting up. Also, the Snapshots are a great way to switch sounds in a song - none of the slight delay changing between full presets.
