Thank you Dr Rabiul for your videos. I'm a physician currently working in Brazil. Personally, your videos usually serve as reminders of many topics in Pathology and Internal Medicine that I learnt while I was in the medical school many years ago. The discussions are very concise and up-to-date and I would recommend your videos to physicians preparing for medical licensing examinations such as MCC, USMLE, AMC or PLAB. Permit me to say that I enjoy your videos very much and I can only wish you more power to your elbow. Keep it up and best wishes from Brazil.

great video...god bless you sir, why most of bleeding is from joint
@RabiulHaque10 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for liking my videos. Joint bleeding occurs in severe hemophilia. It can occur spontaneously ( without any cause ) , or can result from minor strain of the joints or even due to direct injury. One important thing about severe and moderate hemophilia is that although their concentration of deficient clotting factor concentration remains the same their symptoms of hemophilia is fluctuating in nature in most cases. That means during a certain period of time they experience increase bleeding tendency even with slightest injury : and that time is known as active phase. Joint bleeding can occur in active phase as well. Hope it is helpful. I will upload an image slide in my facebook page addressing how bleeding cause joint damage in hemophilia too ! That is also another interesting mechanism but needs image to understand properly. facebook.com/pathology.tutorials . Take care! Bye - sent from Galaxy Note 10.1 -

The video was playing perfectly fine for past 6 years but after your comment I also looked into it and found video appears frozen from 15:50 to 16:20, then it is playing again. This is probably a youtube issue since the original upload had no freezing issue for past 6 years. Hope it gets resolved automatically again soon by youtube. Take care and stay blessed and apologies for the sudden inconvenience.

Will you pls explain why hemophilia will develop in female in homozygous condition as there will be one x chromosome lionized? Why it is not symptomatic carrier female?
@RabiulHaque4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. In homozygous condition both X chromosomes (one came from mother, one came from father) contain the defective gene. So no matter which X chromosome is inactivated (paternal origin or maternal origin) the remaining X chromosome is still containing defective gene and causing Hemophilia. But it is very rare, because in order to have such homozygous genotype, the mother had to be a carrier and the father had to be a case of hemophilia and their offspring had to have inherited defective X chromosomes from both parents. Symptomatic carrier is still a carrier. A carrier has one normal X chromosome and one X chromosome with the defective gene. Usually carriers are asymptomatic because there is normal X chromosome active in random manner. But they can become symptomatic if the random X chromosome inactivation happened in such a manner that most of the normal X chromosomes got inactivated and most of the defective x chromosomes remain active. That is also rare. Take care and stay safe.

Sir is hemophilia curable? Is it a very serious problem? Please let me know.. please
@RabiulHaque5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. At this time there is no cure for haemophilia. Different types of mutations can cause haemophilia, so severity depends on the percentage of affected clotting factors. For example, Individuals with less than 1% active factor are classified as having severe haemophilia, those with 1-5% active factor have moderate haemophilia, and those with mild haemophilia have between 5-40% of normal levels of active clotting factor.There is no long-term cure. Treatment and prevention of bleeding episodes is achieved primarily by replacing the missing blood clotting factors.
