Not mentioning that United also had massive financial backing from outside inverstors in the early 1900s seems like a massive miss. Especially since it was basically the same thing that happened to City in 2008. History repeating itself 100 years later but to their local rivals

Just a few points Newton Heath the football club was formed in late 1880 not 1878. The 1878 Newton Heath was a rugby club and nothing to do with what became Manchester United. St Marks (Manchester City) was the first club in Manchester to play association rules football. Trophies throughout their history is a bit of a stretch City had just missed out on the double in 1904 while utd were still floundering in the second tier. Manchester City were accused of paying bonus payments to players shortly after with players being banned from playing for the club. This led to utd snapping up a number of these players and building their team around them which is where their first 3 trophies came from the last in 1911. The next trophy they won was in 1948 while playing at Maine Road. Manchester City were the biggest club in Manchester (the only one after 1910) for at least 75yrs not just the early 1900s. Utd went bust more than once and didn`t match City`s games in the top flight till the late 1990s.

There is an iconic moment in 1973-74 season, when Manchester United suffered their last relegation from the top-flight football, only 6 years after the European Cup win at Wembley. It was the Manchester Derby game that sealed Manchester United's relegation fate, as they lost 0-1 at Old Trafford. If you don't know who's the player that scored the goal during that game, it was Denis Law, who is, ironically, one of the infamous United Trinity members from the golden period of Matt Busby alongside George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton. However, Manchester United's relegation fate was actually confirmed after Birmingham City defeated Norwich City at the same time. Also, Sir Bobby Charlton had passed away. Such a big loss that he was considered the most successful footballer in England with European Cup/Champions League, World Cup, and Ballon d'Or. I would also suggest making the Roots of Rivalry for Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund. It was also considered the biggest one, especially during the 2010s, when Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp won back-to-back Bundesliga titles and reached the Champions League Final, where they narrowly lost to none other than Bayern Munich.

I think your observation about the non- sectarian nature of the Manchester clubs may not be quite correct. When I was a young boy in Manchester in the 1950s, it was generally understood that United was a Catholic club and City the protestants but with a sizeable Jewish contingent. Manchester at the time had, and still has, a large Jewish population. Indeed one of our childhood chants as City supporters was "Down the Reds, they're Catholic Teds" (Teddy Boys). Matt Busby recruited quite a few players from Ireland at that time. Also your mention of freemasonry and City is interesting because Catholics then were barred from becoming freemasons. So I presume that the Freemasons probably went to watch City. None of his, however, was on the scale of the Glasgow rivalries, for instance.

Good video but you say that the “glazers have become big spenders” which is categorically untrue. United are big spenders but the glazers have not invested a single cent into the clubs spending, in fact it’s the opposite, they’ve taken out almost a billion in dividends that would have been spent by the club itself. I understand why you phrased it the way you did but saying that united fans have less reason to call out cities spending because of United’s spending isn’t true because city’s money has been from outside investment and their owners whereas United’s is only half of the money it should have spent that’s come from club revenue. United fans don’t make fun of city spending they make fun of them relying on outside investment which united doesn’t rely on.

So, I'm an "International" young United fan and started really watching football around 2007. When United were the dominant team. While I initially was an FC Barcelona fan due to their play style and success, I eventually joined my dad in supporting the Red Devils. While I had a dislike for Liverpool, it never really sank in because of United's unending success. However, the day I began to hate City more was the 1-6 loss at Old Trafford and this was the time I began to hate Ballotelli, Aguero and Dzeko. (A hate that still lingers to this day). The hate reached its peak and was cemented on the final day of the 2011/2012 season. I had watched the United game, naturally, and changed over to watch the City game. I was ready to celebrate another title with Ferguson. Unfortunately for me, I got to watch the "AGUEROOOOOOO" moment live. Since then I hated City with a burning passion. Any team that played against City, I will support. Even if it was Liverpool, I would cheer for every goal they would score. It didn't help that the Glazers ran the club into the ground while the City group kept building a monster of a club. Even last season, when Arsenal was chasing the title, I was an Arsenal fan all the way and was fine when they beat us, as long as it prevented the noisy neighbours clinching yet another title. It infuriated me when I saw fellow United fans cheering on City. And these were fans my own age! Did you not see what they've being doing to us? Why would support them? To make it EVEN WORSE, they went on to achieve the treble we held so dear. Anywho, if City played an XI of the worst people in history, a team that includes Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Jeffrey Dahmer, Pol Pot etc and was coached by the Devil himself, I would support that team over City.

City didn't move to Hyde Park, they moved to Hyde Rd. And That picture is of Maine Rd, not Hyde Rd. I'm a Red, and even I know that! The former is now a housing estate, the latter, a lorry park. And, actually, the party went very well, even if it wasn't held at Maine Rd's Silver Suite... "massive flood, my arse".

The swing really boils down to how much better managed City is compared to United over the last 10 years. That being said, I think you downplay the rule breaking by city by quite a bit. With regards to Chelsea (Pre Todd Boehly) and especially Liverpool, they've suffered significant setbacks because they've had to comply with FFP regulations. Given the stiff competition between these 3 clubs in recent years , it would only be fair that you acknowledge the significance of City cheating and their blatant attempts to cover it up.

you are talking nonsense mate, do you even know what they are charges are and how much they breached ffp? its over pennies, like 2 or 3 mill, its nothing, just bs by otherr clubs
@sssf55 Жыл бұрын
@johnvalentine8941 I don't know how you could be so confidently stupid. Some of the charges include under the table money they've paid to managers, agents and players in the millions. Only a small Brain should think that isn't a big deal.

Man Yanited were one of the teams that benefitted most from the Premier League breakaway from the English League. If not for something like that, Citeh may not well have been bought out in the first place. I don't believe in Karma but, lmao... Anyone who does can probably see exactly what I'm getting at. 😂 I do not feel sorry for Yanited and their treatment under the Glaziers or Citeh's benefit under Abu Dhabi at all. They were among the front runners to open that door in the first place and benefitted for years. What goes around comes around. 😊😊

United benefited from the Premier league becoming popular citeh have been financially doped no comparison , teams like united and Liverpool ran a marathon citeh jumped into a taxi to get to the finish line no comparison pal
@megazard52495 ай бұрын
@@Jamacianwoodbine You missed my point entirely. 🙂 Clubs like Yanited and Pooly WANTED a breakaway from normal football in the first place which lead to excess investment. Citeh was very much a problem MADE by those seeking the extra financial benefit of breaking away in the first place. If the Prem never happened, City never happens. If you feels it's unfair and only Yanited and Pooly should have got the resources, then the breakaway would have only been monopolization, which is also antithesis to actual sport.

So Oil Money thats breaking the rules vs Bad Management. Yeah that's why people want Arsenal or Liverpool to win.

Kinda a shame you didn't even just mention United of Manchester, the club split from ManUtd because of the anti-glazer, left wing stance. I know it's not the place to talk in depth about it but I feel that talking about ManUtd is something that has to be mentioned

United spent the same amount of money bro, it’s not about the money, it’s about the competence.
@DisFaBish Жыл бұрын
@@destined1536 Not sure if that true but even if it is, we have a huge fanbase and a rich history that makes it possible to spend big. We all know Man Utd got a shit board and negotiators that make us over spend for player and the wages, plus so many many other issues that this board and owners caused. Man City in the other hand would be in league 2 without them sheikhs and we all know it.
