I live near Sevilla and would say they are very 50% 50% even the towns around, (maybe Betis sliiightly more, although most people I know are Sevilla) its a very passionate rivalry but very banterish funny one cause of how much Sevilla people like to joke around. Was in a taxi the other day there and asked which team he supported, he stopped the car, looked at me serious and said "Sevilla, whats that, there is only one club in this city" 20 seconds later we bursted out laugh. Idk how many times I've heard the opposite hehe they will always downplay or poke fun of eachother fans. Up until a the Sevilla Europa dominance, would say they are historically quite even, although Sevilla have spent like 10 seasons more in the top flight Derby Day Sevilla by Copa90 did fantastic job showing the rivalry Best Derby atmosphere in Spain no matter the league position ❤

Even though El Gran Derbi was considered the biggest football rivalries in Spain, there was only one occasion where both sides had a rare moment. The 2000/01 season was the first time an iconic rivalry has become not important because both sides were in second-tier of the Spanish football as a result of their relegations from the previous season of La Liga, the season that saw Deportivo La Coruna winning their first national title, Alaves having a good performance from being narrowly relegated to Segunda Division in 1999 to play in the next season of UEFA Cup, where they only lost to Liverpool by a golden goal in the final, and the first all-Spanish Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Valencia. In addition, Atletico Madrid also got relegated only 4 years after winning the historic Double. Betis and Sevilla, indeed, won the promotion immediately after this debacle.

Deportivo won the championship of the 99/00 season. Also they have won a Copa del Rey before, so it wasn't their first national title

@@Ioannis_Moraitis They also won another Copa del Rey in 2002, 7 years after the previous one, where they spoiled Real Madrid's centenary celebrations at the same time held in Santiago Bernabeu. Deportivo's biggest result was 2003/04 Champions League campaign. They eliminated two Italian giants and previous finalists Juventus and Milan en route to the semifinal, and only lost controversially to Jose Mourinho's Porto.

Great video Adrian. Love it that you make so many videos about LaLiga. These two rivals share a lot of similarities but imagine sharing your stadium with your rival? In Switzerland, both the Zürich clubs have to use the same stadium because one of the two can‘t get the approval to build one for itself. Maybe this could be an interesting video?

10:30 while you've done a great deal of research, I need to point out that when sevilla moved to Nervión in 1928, that area was as underdeveloped as Heliopolis. Along crops and two tile manufacturers, you'd found newly built houses for the 1929's expo workers and the ground for model garden city of Nervión a couple blocks away. "La palmera", the big avenue that connects heliopolis to the old Town, is filled of monumental chateaux, though.

Sevilla was created in 1905, thats why they celebrated their anniversary in 2005. A few years ago they said the club was created in 1890 because a match was played against Recreativo, but it wasn't a real club yet, just a few guys that got together to play the game and no other record of said club exists until the real date where the club was created. Another of the reasons why Eladio left Sevilla was because they wanted the club to play in a richer neighbourhood, and yes, because they didn't want to sign a lower class player

Sevilla FC was not founded in 1890. It was founded a club named "Sevilla", not related at all with the later club Sevilla FC. While they share the same name, they are not related. And as you clame Real Betis was founded in 1909 (signed its, founded in 1907), it should be the same for Sevilla FC, created in 1905 and signed later in 1907.

Bruh, this must be the most dogshit take I have ever read lmao Real Madrid vs Barcelona has been the biggest rivalry in Spain since pretty much forever. After the Spanish League formed, Madrid and Barcelona became the two strongest and most succesful Spanish teams relatively quickly, so they've had a competitive rivalry since pretty much the beginning of Spanish football. And it only grew more and more from the 1950s on. Add to that the fact that they're the flaghsip team from the 2 biggest, richest and most politically and historically relevant regions in Spain respectively. Not even getting into the deeply rooted social, political and cultural aspects of the rivalry and the historical relations between Catalans and Castilians because that might be just to much for you. Barça fans threw a fucking pig head and all kinds of shit at Luis Figo at an El Clasico to the point where they had to call off the game in the year 2000 after he signed for Real Madrid ffs. That's how big the rivalry was 10 years before Messi's prime. Yes, during Messi and Ronaldo's prime El Clasico gained a lot of global attention, but that's just because of the insane quality of players both teams had at the time and the natural hype of seeing the two greatest players in modern history (or history, period) play against each other. But that doesn't mean the rivalry didn't exist before.
