Thank you for showing we mountain bikers are good stewards of the land and trails, by taking the turtle off the trail.

Great video. And great job on a very rough mtn. My wife doesn't like me on it, because it's kinda like a small wilderness up there, and extraction with an injury would be problematic. But the beauty is unparalleled.

Thanks for the great sneak peak of Racoon Mnt! Finally a Mtb video featuring a normal personality; neither revved up to 11 to perform for the camera, nor overselling the experience. 👍

awesome video and riding! im thinking about checking it out this weekend, torn between north ga, dupont, coldwater, the list of trails in the area is unreal these days, keep on riding, subscribed!

Hoping to go to DuPont for the first time within the next month so no comment there but Coldwater and Raccoon Mountain are both pretty awesome. Coldwater is probably a little better imo
@Mtbdrumrunner3 жыл бұрын
@@_Aitch_ thanks for the feedback, Coldwater looks really tempting. Dupont is a lot of fun, definitely worth the visit, start and or finish with Ridgeline and you will get a good pump for others like Jim branch or hickory, it's an awesome view either way, keep it up look forward to seeing what's next

@@Mtbdrumrunner sweet thanks for the advice. I'm probably headed to DuPont this month so I was just about to start doing some research. Hopefully the collarbone heals up soon and I can put out some videos by the end of the month

Nice on sight burn! Fortunately, that’s a nearby loop for me. You had a super solid pace descending LiveWire1. Parts of that trail sort of sneak up you.
@_Aitch_ Жыл бұрын
Oh man, Live Wire 1 will get you with those couple little climb sections. They’ll take it out of you but it’s still one of my favorite trails. Jealous it’s local to you. Raccoon Mountain is one of my favorite places to ride

Enjoy your videos. I rode this last fall with my son. Coming down the same way with those rocky and steep switchbacks. Almost as bad as the ones on pilot rock!
@_Aitch_2 жыл бұрын
It's definitely really chunky in spots. I want to go back soon because this video was made almost 9 months ago and I was there almost a year ago. I'd like to see if I would handle it any better. Really fun trail system!

Rode Tsali at the beginning of this month (Sept.). 10 hour drive well worth it. Stayed at the campsite 3 days two nights. I am heading to this one in April or so. Is it doable on a hardtail? I always ride any kind of trail in HT but saw one rocky area that will bump my HT nicely.
@_Aitch_2 жыл бұрын
I’d say so… Most of it is certainly doable on a HT but there’s definitely very rocky sections on the blacks (Live Wire 2 and High Voltage). I think you could get it done though. Lmk when you go I’m interested to hear your opinion after riding it
@Surfmus25 күн бұрын
@@_Aitch_ Rode it this weekend. Milton came to FL so I went to Chattanooga. I planned the trip for the end of the month, but did not want to deal with the Storm. Nothing major happened where I live anyways but it was a good excuse to flee to the Mountains. Regarding the ride. It was doable but all I ride is HT and I know how to maneuver a bike in rock garden and technical areas. For someone that does not how to ride a HT well, then I recommend a FS bike. Last month I went to Tsali and Fire Mt.

Im heading up there in a couple weeks and your video was awesome. Thanks for the preview! Any advice?

If you’re up for it, go up livewire 2&1 then come back down 1 then go to the top. Livewire 1 is really fun coming down, and worth the extra pedaling imo (I usually take the road up to the top after doing that instead of the trail)
@petedivine Жыл бұрын
Raccoon Mountain use to be my local trail. I lived 10 minutes from there on the mountain adjacent to it. I've got hundreds of rides on Raccoon Mountain. LiveWire 1 and 2 are my favorite trails. I just finished some major work on my bike and took it for a shake down ride yesterday. I was thinking of Jerrods this weekend but maybe I'll do the 2 hour ride up to Raccoon. Its not the drive up there that's the problem its the ride back 🙃 I'm super tired after riding from the parking lot up live Wire 1 and then going through Laurel Point and down Live Wire 2. Then a 2 hour drive back 🤫 ugh.

What did you end up doing? Can’t ever go wrong with Jarrod’s. But Raccoon Mountain is an all time favorite of mine too. I get you though. That drive back is a killer!

Hi! I recently found out that my family; last name Key, are buried on top of Raccoon Mountain in the Key Cemetery. There are no headstones just markers. Have you ever seen, heard of, or know anything about the history of anything having to do with the last name Key? Any info is appreciated. Also, thanks for this cool video and the adrenaline rush I experienced without killing myself. What kind of bike do you have?
@_Aitch_2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don’t know any info about the area but I do know there are a bunch of attractions nearby that could have some info. That might be a good place to start. The bike in this video is a 2021 Scott Spark 970 but I recently got a 2022 Specialized Enduro Expert. Glad you liked the video!

Put a cush core in and you would have been able to at least ride the rest of the way out. But have ridden Coon a bunch very fun trail system.
@_Aitch_2 жыл бұрын
Been looking at putting cush core in there. Since that video I've upgraded both tires to more durable casings and haven't had any punctures since. Those factory Maxxis tires are really just to get you out of the shop.
@troycarpenter36752 жыл бұрын
@MTB H my buddy rides cush core. I tried his bike out across a rock river bed. It was like riding on carpet! That being said it adds like 2lbs. I'm switching over to dd casing instead.

@@troycarpenter3675 I think that's a good move. I haven't had any issues since upgrading the casing. Feel like Cush Core is something I'll end up getting at some point just because I want to try it out.
