Yep that is right up there with some of the worst race start crashes. Reminds me of that horror crash in Perth 11 years ago where the rear ended car caught alight straight after impact.

the track is wide enough to stagger the line same distance just every second row to left by a cars width,giving all drivers slightly better straight-line start and bett vision of what in front...post script this if you watch historic film of gp racing was a norm no line astern

Supercars used to have staggered and offset starts too. It doesn't always give better view. In many cases gives worse view because you're more likely to get 4 wide running masking even more of the race track.

I was there when that crash happened. The holden was already up to good speed and didnt see the mustang due to the dickhead driver turning right before he hit the car. Glad he was okay.

In the NZGP f open wheelers,he went from last to 1st, with no complaints. Perhaps the other drivers he contacts havent got his racecraft. IMHO,of course.

@@crazyhorse2995 He is without a doubt fast. That i obvious by the margins he can win by once in front. It just seems in each round of the Supercars the only way he gets through traffic is by braking late and hard. Every time he does this and doesn't get it right, it then relies on the other driver to give him space which ultimately costs them the track position.

It's hard to recognize the brand of the cars themselves but I'd be willing to bet that they're not European in this particular race series.

The cars are a Ford Mustang and a Holden Commodore. It's hard to spot the difference because both cars have the same huge "Spec" rear wing. Plus the Mustang's bodyshell has been modified to be similar to the Holden. Next season you will be able to see a big difference between the cars because they will have standard body panels so will look more like the road cars. The Camaro will replace Holden next season.

I'd say he'd do pretty good in NASCAR. Based on his first open wheel race ever, he'd adapt fairly well to indycar too, his rallying looks alright and his drifting wasn't bad either. He tends to do well in just about anything he sits in.
