Great vid. Great to see a daytona appreciator and your attention to a setup that suits you. If you can gets your hands on one, the arrow slip on, K&N washable filter and even the off the shelf triump tune/ ECU flash is a must. The weight saving is ~5% of the bikes weight. They do change the air fuel mix so weight saving and Hp will benefit handling and performance

Great inspirational video. I've got one question, with what did you stick the carbon tank protectors on the tank and how did you hold them in place while the kit or glue was drying. Thanks! Gr from the Netherlands

Glad you enjoyed! There was something included with the sliders to secure them, I think it was an epoxy or resin? They've survived there crashes, so I whatever it was, it works well!

10:55 in terms of clutch less downshifts, did you fit your bike with autoblip in addition to the quickshifter?
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 5 ай бұрын
Nope, no autoblipper. There are very few aftermarket options for this bike since they still use a mechanical/cable-actuated throttle, and from what I gathered they are not very reliable

Good video Chad! You might think of trying a Discaciatta 19mm master cylinder too, I went from an RCS19 to it on my rsv4 and like it better despite being the same piston ratio. I think it has a little bit less “wooden” feel than the RCS19. With that being said both were a big improvement over stock.

Thank you! Appreciate the kudos and the referral. I think I have seen some people on the Triumph forum running the Discaciatta who had good things to say about it, so I'll certainly keep it in mind. Regarding the RCS19, when you say "wooden" feeling, can you elaborate? Like it's kind of flimsy?

@@hiimchad by wooden I mean the lever felt firm, but the bike didn’t brake as much as it could. I think this is a consequence of the piston diameter and lever ratio as compared to the rest of the braking system. The Discaciatta feels more proportional to the lever feel vs biking slowing down.

What brand race bodywork do you have on it? Recently got a 2012 Daytona and all the kits I’ve found use the supersport tail (use OEM seat) and I really want to go with the superbike tail and go the foam pad route

Hey Brian! I got the front fairing and belly pan from a friend, but I bought the tail from Optimal Racing. Not sure if they’re still in business, but their site is still up: optimalracing.com/product/06-12-triumph-daytona-675-superbike-tail/

I am im the market for a 675r to track. Would you suggest the 2011-2012 or a 2013+ for a base starting point? I have the opportunity to snag a 2012 with 35k miles for 5000 but has a charging issue. Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger as this is the lowest price inhabe seen on one in years...

Hey Sammy! I would keep my eyes peeled for a 2013+ if I were you. A lot of improvements were made to make the bike handle better, and the engine makes more power (131 in 2013 vs 126 in 2012 if I recall correctly). 35k miles is on the high side for a bike to start seeing track duty imo, but it all depends on how well it was cared for. In my opinion, $5k would be an ok price if the bike was in great shape all around with that kind of mileage, but given the charging issue, I'd steer clear unless I was looking for a project. If I was, I'd be trying to buy it for somewhere around $3500. I recommend keeping your eyes peeled for a 2013+ that's already been converted for track use. They are rare, but I have seen a few in the $5-7k range with less than 18k miles. Have you joined any of the "track motorcycles for sale" groups on Facebook?

@@hiimchad thanks for the reply! I am gonna keep looking as the 2013+ or gen 3 is really what I had my eyes for originally. I am not on Facebook which makes groups like those haha.

@@sammybrown6730 As much as I dislike Facebook and Meta, I do find it worthwhile just for the Marketplace groups. I've seen some very appealing bikes in there over the years!

2013+ is superior in every way.

@@daytonasayswhat9333except for looks! For a track bike, I agree as you'll replace the plastics anyway. As a road bike, the 09-12 was the best looking triumph IMHO.

Cool vid. If you start getting more serious about racing, and begin pushing the bike harder, you could consider getting an aftermarket rear linkage and after market triple clamp with adjustable offset. That first gen (and “1.5” gen) Daytona has HORRIBLE geometry. Needs way more trail, and way more linearity rear linkage, than stock. They will transform front end stability, and rear end grip and “hook up,” respectively.

A 520 chain would add 1-3 hp.
