I slightly disagree. When a team in the MLB playoffs wins every series in playoffs including wildcard through World Series, but they drop a single game in each series, they weren’t “undefeated” and they weren’t “undefeated through playoffs.” You might say they didn’t drop a single series or they never went down more than 1 game in a series. Your pitching analogy would work if we were deciding whether to call it a perfect season for TL; however, we aren’t. We are deciding what “undefeated” means and in the context of seasons where BO3 and only best of 1s have existed and teams that did exceptionally well were always credited based on the fact they dropped a single game, whether it cost them a series score or not.

To meteos' point, I think he couldve explained the full AD thing better. The reason full AD is bad is not just because of ninja tabi becoming efficient and valuable, its that the enemy doesnt have to spend gold or time making decisions. If your dmg is diversified, then the other team has to decide whether to 1, even buy any defensive items, 2, buy armor items, or 3, buy mr. Often times this results in not buying any defensive because it wont have any of value vs 1 or 2 carries. In some situations it also results in the enemy buying both mr and armor which reduces the amount of dmg they deal by quite a bit potentially via having less dmg items.

Last split he was the clearly best top in LCS, if you take a look at regular season stats and / or look at other players opinions. This split he is still top 3 at worst, with getting very little resources. So you can dislike him, but its delusional to think he isn't a top player, and you can see this in basically every year of career if you are able to view it unbiasedly.

Then as a tank he mispositions and gets caught out. When the format is best of 3, undefeated in series is undefeated. Drafts, risks, plans, prep all change when you have a game to give. Boxing and tennis are examples of sports with equally weighted periods. Nobody detracts from boxers or tennis players for losing rounds or sets. Take off the asterisk. TL is just plain undefeated (for now)

In what scenario does SR need to play a tiebreaker to qualify? I’m pretty sure that they are guaranteed top 6 if they win 2-0 vs 100T, and any other result means that they’re out.

TL:DR Azael had it wrong, 2-0 does guarantee playoffs, but they still can have a 3 way tie that won't determine SR qualification, but will determine 100T and NRG qualification. If they 2-0, they will be tied with 100T as well as NRG if they get 0-2'd by TL. This sets up a 3 way tie where SR beat 100T beat NRG beat SR. Since each of the 3 teams won 1 lost 1 against another in the tie, those 3 teams will play a tiebreaker mini tournament, and round 1 will be 100T v NRG, loser gets 7th place and disqualified, winner plays against SR for 5th place, and loser of that match gets 6th place. The reason why SR gets past round 1 of the tiebreaker is because seeding is based on 'Strength of Victory' and SR has won against DIG, current 4th place, and NRG and 100T have only beat IMT outside of this 3 way tie, currently 8th place. So SR has the strongest 'Strength of Victory', and automatically makes playoffs if they 2-0. In the other possible scenario, if SR 2-0's but NRG gets any result other than a 0-2, SR will be match and game score tied with 100T resulting in a tie, which will be resolved via the head to head score, which will be SR favored, so SR would get 6th place and 100T would get 7th. Final regular season outcome is they do not 2-0, they get 7th, disqualified, 100T and NRG compete for 5th and 6th place.

Azael had SR qualification for playoffs wrong. If they 2-0, it is automatic qualification, because they either have a 2 way tie with 100T, which they auto resolve by having won the head-to-head, or a 3 way tie with 100T and NRG, which requires NRG to get 0-2'd by TL, but even in that 3 way tie, SR is guaranteed playoffs spot, while 100T and NRG will have to compete for it. Seeding for the 3 way tie is based on 'Strength of Victory' so the 2 teams with the weakest 'strength of victory' will play each other in round 1. SR has beaten DIG, who is locked at 4th place in the 3 way tie scenario, so their 'Strength of Victory' is 2.5, 100T and NRG have beaten IMT, which is locked in 8th place for this scenario (and 7th is their best placement in any scenario) so their 'Strength of Victory' is 0.5. Since SR has 2.5 and 100T and NRG have 0.5, the first round of the tiebreaker will be between 100T and NRG, and loser of that match will get 7th place and disqualified from playoffs. The winner of that match will play SR for 5th place, and loser of the second round gets 6th place. Since SR bypasses round 1, they automatically make playoffs. If SR gets a 2-0, they automatically qualify for playoffs regardless of all possible outcomes of this weekends matches.

TL:DR 2 way ties are automatically resolved through head-to-head score, and there are only 2 remaining groups of 3 who could have same match and same game score (DIG 100T NRG) and (100T NRG SR), and the DIG 3 way tie is automatically resolved because DIG beat both teams they are tied against, lifting them above the tie, which then puts 100T and NRG in a 2 way tie, which gets automatically resolved by their head to head. So the only tiebreaker possible is (100T NRG SR) who could meet all 3 conditions, same match score, same game score, and each team having a 1-1 record against the other teams in the 3 way tie. The only possible tiebreaker is a 3 way tie between (SR 100T NRG). For tiebreaks to happen in this season, you need to have same match score, same game score, and equal in the head to head. But each team only played each other once, so 2 way tiebreakers are not possible because every team is 1-0 or 0-1 against every other team. So the only possible tiebreakers are multiple way ties in which Team A beat Team B beat Team C beat Team A again. The other possible 3 way tie in match and game score (DIG 100T NRG) who could all go 2-5 match with a 6-10 game score are prevented because DIG beat both 100T and NRG, so they get 4th, 100T beat NRG in head-to-head so they get 5th, and NRG gets 6th. IMT, even though they can go 2-5 match score, their best possible game score is 4-10, and any team they might tie with at 2-5 match already have 5 wins, so they would automatically place below every other 2-5 team. Even if we do get a 5 teams at 2-5, we cannot get a 4 or 5 way game score tie between them, because DIG has 6 wins, whereas SR has 3 and IMT has 2, so neither of them could match DIG's win% as they can only possibly pick up 2 wins.

I’d argue C9 are extremely overhyped, Game 1 was a coin flip, constant back and forth and C9 got lucky TL messed up. But Game 2 was a stop & game 3 was slower but TL in the drivers seat almost the whole game. After their luck in Game 1, C9 kinda rolled over and let TL have the series.

By that logic, game 1 also had TL being lucky that Umti got the 50/50 on Baron; otherwise, C9 just close the game earlier and we don't get to a point where TL get a Baron and overestimate their end potential in top lane. The rest of the series being unforced errors by C9 either in draft (R5 Lulu into Karma for...some reason, B3 Yone blind pigeonholing themselves into only AD, doing the Sej-Mao trade with Umti after game 1 for some reason) or in execution, like overforcing the gank angle bot in game 2 which gave Yeon a triple kill 5 mins in or itemizing with brains off in game 3. TL showed good heads-up play in game 2 to snowball the int from C9 and in game 3 to bend but not break and give C9 no more than a 1k gold lead early until their comp/items come online, but majority of the good shown by TL are off the back of C9 flubs. C9 100% deserve criticism for said flubs, but let's not be disingenuous. The one game where there were no goofy things in draft and mistakes were kept to at least parity, it was a tight game that C9 won. The issue for C9 is to make that the norm since now they've shown the capability, which is impressive for a team that has only been together as a 6 man (5 players + coach) for just about 2-3 months compared to one that has been together all year and through 2 international tournaments.

I quit the game personally over all the bullshit champs riot comes out with. Riot nerfed all the point click cc one shot builds only to come out with briar years later. Just feels like riot is completely lost in champ design and game balance. Loved phreak as a caster but he’s done a terrible job on the balance team.
