In the 2023 Oreana 100 we had amazing soil, and a well marked course. I really liked the course! There were a lot of flowy sections and very limted long whooped out sections. It made for great desert racing here in idaho, and the dirt bike even managed to start up!

Nice job on the video and riding ! It was enjoying to watch the battle ensue throughout the video. I was also impressed with the plus size rider in front of you. I was waiting for him to wad it up but he just kept ripping. I read the comments and wont get sucked into the arguments about cutting, personally i feel if a guy / gal has enough balls /ovaries to cut that course and blindly hope you don't hit a hidden rock in the process deserves the place they gained..... OR ......................the hospital visit. Anyway, thanks for the video, I have seen some of your other videos before I went to ride Idaho and liked them too. I believe i will subscribe

Thanks for posting! Bummer the camera died before dropping further into the rocky canyon. Lap one was technical, lap 2 - fast. Great job, you lost your first place class by 4/10th of a second, ugh!

Here's a section from the rule book for this series for guys who are arguing for course cutting; According to this, even the pass on me at the end of race was against rules. The rules clearly state not to widen the course, or cut corners. "Leaving the designated race course is forbidden. A rider must make every effort to stay on course at all times. The penalty for course cutting will be the loss of finishing positions or a disqualification. There is no course deviation allowed, you must stay on the trail, not create new ones, not widen the trail and obstacles are meant to be ridden over."

Its desert racing, cheater lines are a big part of it. Also, if you wouldn't talk the whole time and actually breathe right, you wouldn't have arm pump.

Talking the whole time is what I do. I have big arms, so arm pump is just going to be a struggle until I ride more.

Wow thanks Will….. so don’t talk and I won’t get arm pump!?! Really? Hahaha…. Dude talks constantly in his normal trail vids and here he said very minimal compared to normal, so yes breathing is important, but so is eating right and drinking enough water and staying away from smokes and alcohol, resting and pre race work out, etc… talking a little in a vid…..? Hahahaha, ok. Disregard Will Red, you keep at it. I’m over the hill now, I’ve done a race or two in my past…. There are WAY more things that give a guy arm pump than talking. Sure beats holding your breadth! 😂

Did I make a pass somewhere by cutting a corner? The answer is definitely yes, to be honest. I cut a corner to pass another rider who wasn’t in my class. Watch all videos all the way through. I might mention a dirty pass 10 seconds of a 30 minute video. Same with my “is this illegal “ video, people get bent out of shape but if you watch the video it’s all love.

Read your desert racing rules. If this was an enduro race. Then the expectation would be for you to move over and let people pass. There are multiple lines to take when racing down a wash (key word RACING). Since you decided “to hang back and not pass”, others have to find lines around you. BTW the guy in front of you never went down the whole race. I enjoy watching off-road racing videos and getting a different perspective. But, I hear a lot of whining and excuses in your race videos.
@RacerRed
@RacerRed Жыл бұрын
Literally no excuses here. Just fun! Please describe any excuse you hear in this video. I took full accountability for not being able to get by the guy in front of me; it was 100% on me to get by. He is a good rider. This is live audio during racing. Trying to figure out how I can get by someone is totally fine. At one point in the video I realized I kept describing how difficult it was to get a pass in on the straight’s but I was getting slowed down in the tighter terrain… absolutely nothing wrong with anything I said during this video. It sounds like you are taking it way too personally and actually whining about it.
@MotoFish45
@MotoFish45 Жыл бұрын
Gotta agree with you Red. I’ve been in that situation before. Sometimes I’ve talked to myself trying to figure out how to catch and pass a guy. Kinda work’n your way through it. At one point you originally thought a guy was going a little off course, then you realized and stated something to the effect it wasn’t so much. Some of it actually slowed him down anyways. But that is desert style racing. Most rules allow 25’ from either side of the markings. At least the Hare Scrambles and Hare N Hound races I’ve done have been that way. One District 37 event I did years ago had an exception at the start…. It was fastest route to the smoke and from that point forward it was follow the markers/ribbon within the 25’ either side. Good stuff. Either way, I didn’t feel you talked too much. I felt you talked way less than on one of your typical trail videos. I felt you were being more focused in this event than a normal trail video. BTW, Someone will always be out there to give you their 2 cents wether you want it or not. Don’t sweat it. I enjoyed, keep at it.
@RacerRed

@@MotoFish45 I appreciate it man! It’s good to hear another perspective. I went back and watched the video just to make sure, and I literally said nothing wrong. Like you said, I corrected myself the one time I said a guy was cutting. The rest was literally just describing my experience as I raced. Thanks again for the comment!

One of the amazing aspects while riding, and even more so when racing is the awareness of one's "self-talk". We all do it. I would argue that it is one of the most important skills of dirt bike riding. The fact that Red actually shares a good amount of his "self-talk" is of super value here, and one of the reasons I watch this channel faithfully. No one's "self talk" is perfect, and the easy choice (dare I say lazy?) is to criticize other's self talk when it's our own we could be looking at to grow and improve. With that said I am certain that RR has no problem using another viewer's feedback to spur the process of looking at himself to improve, as he illustrates this throughout his videos regularly. Self evaluation is healthy.
@Williamsboysracing
@Williamsboysracing Жыл бұрын
I agree that it would be very difficult to “self talk” while racing. And personally, I wouldn’t even try it. But if you’re going to be a KZbinr, and you’re going to give any type of criticism to anyone or anything. Then you better be prepared to take criticism. I have a choice to keep watching his race videos and turn down the volume. And he has a choice to take criticism and ask himself “how can I improve my videos and how can I get better at racing?” Or do I really even want to get better? Do I make a lot of excuses? Am I honest with myself? This is only my opinion. Many others will differ. And a lot of his followers will believe everything he says even though it’s not completely accurate. To end with a positive. A lot of people can relate with him because they are weekend warriors too. The majority of off-road racers are weekend warriors racing on a tight budget. Doing it because they love to ride and they enjoy some competition too. We all have to figure out how to stay fit, do bike maintenance, and get seat time through the winter months. Especially in our neck of the woods.🥶😄
