@rocknrolljesus3197 neither Plaids nor Demons make sense to me. For 6 figures, I want a car that can do everything well. Plaids and Demons are 1/4 horse tricks and nothing more. Plaids at least offer seating for 4 but the poor high speed stability and braking make it almost as dangerous as the 60s muscle cars. A CT5-V Blackwing may be slower than both but is a monster on the track and is also great at just cruising. Same with the M5 CS. If you just want a drag monster, you can build one for half the price of either car that will beat either car.

Ohh my god My challenger R./T Rallye Redline 5.7 was limited until I put a Diablo sport tune on her and deleted rev limiter and speed limiter and a 93 octane tune. Now she can hit 167 m.p.h

First of all GO BUCKS! I believe Herman Young had some software issues with his 170 I don't remember what the exact problem was I believe he couldn't unlock his modes after 500 miles. I made my 2020 RT with the performance package from the factory with some all season performance BFgoodrich tires go over 151 mph without any roll off on a remote stretch of public land here in the wild west, and then there is the Demon 170 can't even go over 140 mph, that's sad what Dodge is doing nowadays.

Catch cans are legit. I have one on my coyote powered F-150 and it does pull oil out of the combustion system. I have experienced about 1 mpg improvement after installation.

Maybe when the stealership finished replacing the engine, they didn't reset the PCM and clear all fault codes. The PCM thinks the broke engine is still in the car. After driving with no issues, the PCM realizes the engine is OK and stopped doing a boost bypass.

I love all the people the are calling the demon 170 a piece a junk while the majority of them are probably driving around in a 98 Honda Accord. I also love the people that say " Oh my 2012 SRT or my camaro or mustang is better then the Demon because it will go 170+ mph. You all need to wake up. Dodge put the speed limiter on the 170 because the tires are not rated for 200mph+ speeds. Its called liability. They are a multimillion dollar company and if the car did not have a limiter and someone drove it 215mph on the tires supplied by Dodge and they failed, Dodge would be screwed. Everyone wants to talk so tough. The reality is Dodge dod something no other ICE manufacturer dared to to. You can take a 170 to the track and run 8's then drive home with the A/C on. That is an amazing feat. And so what if a few motors have blown. The important part is Dodge is replacing them under warranty. Any super high performance car from any manufacturer has had issues. And for those asking yes the limiter can be tuned out and the Demon 170 will easily blow past 200mph. The reality is they are all under warranty and removing the limiter would void the warranty and I do not think qny current owners want to take the chance with that.

My 06 Charger SRT8 is twice the car of the 170. Not as fast in the 1/4 mile but a much better all around car that will top out over 170 and run forever. I have 355K miles now and added a 300C with a tuned 6.4. Another great motor with even more low end power.

Not sure why anyone is disappointed with the 170’s top speed, Chrysler told us that it was speed limited, with that being said, I would be concerned if this were my car with as many issues as you have had with it.

The Demon 170 is limited to 149mph. Any dodge car that hits its top speed will start kick out when it's close to it's limit. For example, a Super Track Pack 5.7RT will kick out around 155-157 mph and a base model 5.7RT kick out at 129-131 mph. That's normal when reaching its top speed. Also, switching to regular street tires will help reach that 149mph a little better and quicker. The pcm will always adjust the speed based on the traction, and wheel speed according to the wheel speed sensors.

Similar issue was going with my 392 with the lunging forward, didn’t do it all of the time. It was the module that controlled TCS was fried by a bad ground, was causing intermediate strange issues with shifting and hanging up in high rpms, lunging, and engine braking went it should’ve been coasting etc. Was all the one module.

Wondering if the computer automatically cut the power after reading the car travelled a quarter of a mile. Noticed it was cutting out around 135 but you rolled into it and probably crossed the quarter mile at that speed. Unlocked PCM should fix that problem.

Sounds like the factory governor is engaging early… typically factory speed governors cut fuel at a predetermined RPM, while it’s better to cut timing (like MSD) so as not to run lean. Sounds like the RPM is set incorrectly, probably in the factory tune. It’s possible the car needs to be driven a certain distance of predetermined mileage for a break-in period.

After 1320 feet you are not wrong. 170 is a quarter mile car. Scat Pack is just getting going at the end of a quarter mile. If you like 9 seconds of adrenaline get the 170. Everything else get the Scat or Cat.

Custom mode is your best friend. Track transmission. Street everything else. Don't care what any other owners tell you. With this set up and traction on you can full throttle from a dig with little to no rear wheel spin. If you let it get up to 40 at about 70% throttle you can step on it fully after that and it will be a softer but quicker launch And the supercharger will kick in right when you step on her

Wow, I did NOT expect to hear that a Tesla made it beyond 140-150 mph, even a Plaid. I thought they all topped at about 140, and most of their torque dropped off at like 115ish. I guess that's the old first version Tesla days at the track when the Tesla would of course smoke off the line but then the muscle cars would end up catching up and passing before the 1/4 mile marker.
