News broke officially on Tuesday of the new SuperMotocross World Championship, which will be a three-race addition to the end of the traditional Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships in 2023. The idea is to sell this package for more TV money than previous, which allows for bigger purses. Of course, there has already been a lot of news in the sport lately with the FIM sanctioning the separate World Supercross Championship on its own. The teams are so into it because it keeps them in their comfort zone very very similar to the last 2 decades. WSX is changing the industry, It only took fear of change to get people moving

Weege yeah! Always supporting the sport we love, and giving us plebs a good understanding of what is going down without preaching or forcing one point of view. And the best thing about AUSX Open 2019 for Weege... he got to meet me!! haha!! WSX vs SMWC... biggest difference next year... there will be way more "factory" top level riders injured by the time the final 3 rounds happen in SMWC than there will be for the 10 rounds of WSX. It is just the way it is. More races, more injuries, more guys missing in the final rounds. That should be good for the smaller teams and privateers... you say healthy... make the night show in SX, and top 20 in MX more often than not... you got a good shot at the final rounds and the $$$$ that brings.

I dont believe the idea of combining sx and mx SUDDENLY occurred to them. NBC would of been telling feld and ama for years that if they combined they’d get much more in tv rights. It means for years riders and the industry have been underpaid because of mismanagement. Not cool. At least they’ve done it now before running the sport entirely into the ground i guess. Its a good development, if not years too late.

They could all play nice. They won't. The riders seeem secondary to the current business model, I'm sure personally it's not that way. The whole community is so rad and pretty tight but business is business. The coombs/mxsports family brought us what we want if they could have fixed I'm sure they would have sometime the working in the background delays the forground. It's happening for these guys now, let's celebrate that at least! The combo is cool though change is key

You're going to see riders go to WS because it's more per race. 10 races and specialize in SX. And don't have essentially race a year.

Please stop trying to spin it like you were planning this for years this new series. Obviously you didn't. Just say look this is our sport and we are going to do whatever it takes to keep our riders and series healthy and strong and we aren't letting it be taken over. It would sound much better than now trying to act like you were preemptive in making an alternate series come on.

I'm all for changes like this to the sport, but whoever thought of the name SuperMotocross needs to be fired. This sounds like a horrible movie title from someone who's never even seen a dirt bike before. Call it the Grand National Championship like it was named for decades and give the winner a special background to run for the next year to signify who is the GNC.

And we have an American "world" event again. Just as dumb a name as the "world series" in baseball. Neat idea, and I think a homage to the old Grand National name of 1983 would have been a better choice.
