So, in my homebrew world there are never more then 4 genasi at any given time because 4 genies have an ongoing contest where the have mortal children and pit them against each other when the come of age. The genies keep a runing tally of who wins each time. It's been happening for thousands of years.

I always pronounced it as if you say the word Djinn, (Djinn-asi) Also, Jafar when he becomes a Primordial, he becomes very Efreet like. Before that he's very much like a Naga.

Actually, before 4e mucked it up, there were six elemental planes: air, earth, fire, water, and positive and negative poles; then between the four main planes there were four paraelemental planes: ice was between air and water, ooze was between water and earth, magma was between earth and fire, and smoke was between fire and air; finally, there were eight quasielemental planes, they bordered each element with the positive or negative poles: air was bordered positively by lightning, negatively by vacuum, water was bordered positively by steam, negatively by salt, earth was bordered positively by mineral, negatively by dust, and fire was bordered positively by radiance, negatively by ash.

I designed a fire Genasi for this friday it's the offspring of an earth Genasi and a fire Genasi, so it's bald like an earth Genasi but produces green fire, so I'm giving it the magic initiate feat for Green flame blade. Depending on the group I'm choosing Sorcerer or Rouge first then multi classing into the other later on.

It's worth noting that a lot of the discussion about genasi personality here doesn't really apply to Earth Genasi. Air, Fire, and Water Genasi are all somewhat chaotic and mercurial in a manner that generally reflects upon their respective elemental origins. Earth Genasi are very much the odd ones out in this regard. They certainly share in their relatives more prideful- often arrogant- and creative nature, but the more solid nature of earth and stone is very clearly reflected in their temperament. Earth Genasi are generally quite patient and stoic individuals. While they have no shortage of ego, they are far more measured and considerate in both word and action than any of their cousins. Similarly, they are slow to trust, love, or hate, but once opinions and relationships are formed, it takes no small effort to shift them- making an Earth Genasi both an unyielding ally to a friend and an implacable menace to an enemy. This sturdiness of perspective frequently developes into a stubborn streak capable of putting a dwarven grudge to shame, as well as a general distaste for any sort of rapid change. *EDIT:* While this isn't discussed in the more general discussion of Genasi personality, it does get briefly addressed towards the end of the video.

So with a Water Genasi having acid resistance, does that mean they would be immune to acid damage?

No they just take less damage. Like if a copper dragonborn used acid breath on them they would take less damage than like a human or another genasi

With Shape Water, you can freeze the water, provided that there are no creatures in it. The water unfreezes in 1 hour.

Great video. This version of the Genasi seems very weak and boring. They should be more like the Tieflings and Aasimar and have at least one or two more powers related to their elemental natures and they should all have a resistance to one type of damage.

I too am tiny bit underwhelmed with the 5e Genasi, but the flavor is good enough to keep me interested in rolling one.

My DM also found it unfair genasi have very few options for powers related to their elemental nature. When I made the choice to contact my father on the water plane (I play as a water genasi warlock) the DM let me pick up the spells Watery Sphere and Wall of Water (in game they were gifted to me by my father). The DM made up house rules where I can cast both spells twice a day and use up a spell slot as I would with any other spell. It's made the game fun and those spells have both come in handy...we have a lot of spellcasters who use fire based spells haha.

Well hopefully they expand the race in a later book or UA. Genasi was one of my favorite races in Pathfinder

It may have been unearthed arcana type thing, but in 4th edition they added corrupted genasi. I played as a Caustic genasi that did acid damage, was pretty sweet.

It has been a while since we recorded, so I may be mistaken, but I thought I brought this up in this episode. Genasi corrupted by proximity to the abyss. Voidsoul, Causticsoul, Ashsoul, and Plaguesoul.

The main source of information on Genasi would be the "The Princes of the Apocalypse" module or the free pdf of the Elemental Evil Player's Companion. Also the 4th edition Forgotten Realms Player's Guide has lore on the Genasi.
