Hearing someone else talk about magic from a more logical/scientific context is so empowering 💖 it's so nice to hear someone else say things like "if you benefit from having an imaginary friend, just go for it" 'cause I find so much comfort in a lot of aspects of witchcraft, but sometimes I also feel embarrassment around my beliefs because of societal stigmas and stuff, so I get defensive and constantly feel the need to remind myself that this is helping me with my depression and anxiety by helping with grounding, relaxation, hope, and wonder. ✌️

I've spent the last several years finding my own spirituality and then wondering where I fit in with all the pieces. I happened to stumble upon your video here and everything finally just clicked into place for me that my spirituality is uniquely mine and I can find ways to practice it that make sense for me without following a book or path to an exact. Thank you so much, this video was incredibly helpful and I finally feel like I know how to move forward in putting more practice into my beliefs!

I am a self made "witch". i started reading any books on 'Magick' i could find at an early age. i was so into it that my own mother forbid me to bring the books into the house. i have grown up with the stigma, making me steadfast in my beliefs. i have to say, human experiences really put walls up in regards to your capabilities. i felt more powerful as a child. i remember being able to give someone a reading with a deck of playing cards. i had numerous revelatory dreams. i could literally control every variable in a dream, i miss that the most. sometimes i had 'bad dreams' to overcome obstacles in my life. they were like practice runs but they also taught me how to accept defeat (this is something i think the entire population of earth could use). I have also veered away from capitalism and have an urge to run away up north in the woods as a mythical druid man. i just set up a sad excuse for an altar because this year is not vibing right. trying to get back into practicing daily. love this video... definitely comforting and inspiring. /thumbsup

@@giannahsolano8261 do it . Don’t be afraid . God is a being of light, a balance of masculinity and femininity. People with experiences of him have said he came to them and told them that the teachings that were taught were not his , and indeed came from a human state .

I think your philosophy of witchcraft is interesting and probably the closest I could ever get to spirituality as an atheist. Also, I like the idea of creating the adult version of an imaginary friend for the psychological benefits it could provide. I don't see myself doing that with a spirit or deity, but for sure if someone I am deeply bonded to dies, like my mom or dad, I will probably never stop talking to them. I have a lifetime of memories and patterns of conversation with them stored in my mind and so they will always be with me as a psychological imprint/echo. And that applies to anyone who has a deep impact psychologically and is then lost. Some imprints I choose to erase and actively let go of, like an ex or a former friend because it's not healthy to hold on. Other imprints I will cherish until my own dying day.

Well, this seems a lot like how I deal with danger in my life. I like to pray into my hands to someone, or as I say "God, or anyone who is listening". I guess I would equate this to your Spells. It keeps me focused on being safe or the goal at hand.

im glad to find someone talking abt witchcraft in a psychological type of way because thats more how i feel about it as well, and sometimes it makes me think 'does that mean i just dont believe? or im fake?' even though its been helping me and i enjoy it i love watching other content about different ideas of witchcraft but i just dont think my beliefs line up with some of it and thats fine

I really like how you describe magic as "DIY Spirituality" that's pretty much how I feel about it but I didn't put the words on it until now. On a completely different note, your description of gods, goddesses and spirits reminds me of the Mastigos from "Mage : the Awakening" (I'm a tabletop nerd). A big part of their practice is based on going into the world of their own subconscious and interacting with the denizens there that are basically manifestations of themselves through archetypes. Also they can teleport, which is where the comparison ends ^^ Anyway great video, I love your takes on witchy things!

Why do you call it spiritual if that isn’t what you believe it is by definition? I agree with you and the model you adhere too, however I would feel conflicted labeling myself as a witch with your stance. how are you okay with labeling it magic or having imaginary deities when you believe it is the power of the mind? You have a right to call it what you want but just speaking personally I would feel so biased just doing something that “works for me” instead of doing what I know is absolutely true. I couldn’t be okay with speaking to deities knowing I’m just doing it for my mind. With witchcraft it really can be whatever you want but I find that individualistic emphasis to be kinda scary bc creating our own realities seems so biased to our own experiences. I’d wanna know and practice the ultimate truth. If it were spirituality I would do that but if it’s psychology then I would look at it just that, psychology

Rachel, how do you overcome self-sabotage when manifesting? As to who you are witch-wise, I've always thought of you as a White Witch. I can't see you ever doing harm to anyone, only good, sorry if I took a liberty, but that's just how I've envisioned you.

I was not expecting this explenation of witchcraft. @10:20 It's like choosing to have imaginary friends. That's exactly what it's like for me. But I've been doing that forever. Long before I learned anything about magic. Like you said, it's not hurting anyone and it's helping me personally. So why not? Explains why Witchcraft fits for me so well.

This is glorious, I've been looking for "are love spells real" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Lonilley Magicify Simplification - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got excellent success with it.

One other thing all love spells are actually spells you cast on yourself when you believe you have been successful in your spell then when you see or are around the person you have more confidence and stand taller and look more like you have your self under control and that makes you look more attractive so don't be surprised if you find that more girls or boys then jest the one you were aiming for start showing interest in you to these spells can bring you the one that is for you also make your love spells sweet and simple remember love has its own power and it is strong.

Apartment Witch might be a good label- blending ‘home’ or ‘house’ with city. If aesthetic is your thing, you might translate it to something- Wohnungswitch (VOH-nungs-witch) or Wohnungshexe (VOH-nungs-hex-a)is a german possibility. Just something to chew on. :)

@@RachaelStephen I came down to the comments to see if anybody had suggested "Flat witch" yet because that struck me as a good way to capture the collision of ideas that you're talking about. To me the implications of identifying with specifically an apartment or flat not only establishes the idea that you find home as it occurs in the greater environment of the city, but it also explicitly refuses the idea that the most perfect version of "home" is necessarily property ownership. "House witch" doesn't necessarily explicitly affirm that, but it leaves open the pathway to that implication, and the whole host of cultural artifacts of modernity that come with it: the nuclear family as a microcosm of the state, the domestic sphere as separate from the working sphere, etc. You could also deny that narrative by going with "hearth witch," but that, like you said, sort of claims that liberation as coming from a place in the past, casting you as a remnant of a fight that's already been lost. "Flat witch" places you firmly in the contemporary, and asserts the value of the specific conditions in which you live not as a pale shadow of a true "house," but as the celebrated subject of your practice on its own terms. idk whether "Flat witch" is gonna work for you, but I think you're right to avoid claiming the other labels you've considered: (regardless of the framework in which they understand it,) for centuries powerful people have been loading those words with subtly violent magic. I think it's better to spend time nameless than to keep casting that kind of spell on yourself. (a nonzero amount of this comment may also be me writing to myself as I identify and explore the nature of my own practice.)

What do witches believe is the afterlife? Do you have your own perception of afterlife and death or is there a general understanding of a realm witches will go to after death?

It varies and depends, since witchcraft is a practice and not a religion, there really is no afterlife specifically catered to witches, there is no cosmology or theology dedicated to witchcraft itself, not unless you are a wiccan witch ( I say wiccan witch than wiccan cuz not all wiccans are witches some are exclusively devotees only), or in other witchcraft dominated religions and traditions, then ofc there is an afterlife right there, but even so the views of after life vary within the tradition or religion. Witchcraft is just like a job, all religions can take that job since its not exclusive or religious, so yeh for the concept of afterlife, you can go to heaven, hell, valhalla, tartarus, you can reincarnate, or you can be part of the earth (for atheist witches), or whatever, you believe in.

I loved your description of witchcraft as DIY spirituality! That really resonated with me. And I was also glad to hear you express your belief in the psychological aspect--that a spell affects the spell caster, not another person. Made total sense to me. As someone rather new to the craft, I was starting to feel I was missing something when everyone else was talking about casting spells on other people. It didn't make sense to me! I recently purchased Hausmagick, and I am enjoying it so much. My daughter and I are enjoying exploring our paths, which are very similar, and which we each started on our own, without the other's knowledge for over a year.

As a chaos witch I can't deny anything about magic that doesnt fit my belief system since I believe that's not how a chaos witch should function, however spells that effect others, entities being seperate from us, soulmates and past lives, and the concept of an astral plane, are still hard to incorperate with my belief system which is similar to yours, however I do know people who participated in both sides of such things related to that, and sometimes it was together if it was stuff like astral travel, so I am still unsure

In the later years of “Supernatural” the view gets slightly better. Rowena’s character shines a somewhat better light on Witches. They also didn’t fight against any witches that were “good”. But I totally understand why you felt this way watching earlier episodes.

As soon as you said DIY spiritually I felt freer. And I also looked up the definition of spirituality lol. I really align with the same beliefs as you with the psychological model and not focusing on the natural world/medieval aesthetic/wicca-ish traditions heavily. And as for the label you can’t quite put your finger on, I call myself a “practical witchcraft” practioner. I think of “practical witchcraft” as cottage witchcraft but without the cottagecore aesthetic and less herbalism.

Hiya! I’ve had similar feelings to yours when it comes to cottage/house/hearth witchcraft, where the idea of it is absolutely what I’m interested in but the name doesn’t seem to fit. And I think for me it’s because “house” as a term is too stationary and tied to a physical place, whereas “home” is much more open (just realised that this comment might get lengthy..sorry about that 😅) I did my dissertation on this subject so I could ramble on but I’ll try to keep it brief! Basically my conclusion was that “house” is a place while “home” is a feeling and what gives the space meaning. So it could be related to a place, object, people or any other thing that gives you that feeling of “home”. Now this was from a interior architecture point of view but I think it applies really well to how a lot of us live nowadays: in flats or houses that we’re, more likely then not, renting. So maybe hearth/house/cottage witchcraft doesn’t fit because it’s too stationary? So I think if I ever label myself as a witch it would be something closer to a Home Witch, because then it’s something I take with me anywhere at the same time that it’s connected to my physical home. Hope that makes sense 😂 felt like I should share since I’ve been thinking about the same thing recently, hope this is helpful in some way!

But yeah I totally identify with your perspective on witchcraft and psychology. I’ve been thinking about that for a while actually. Side thought... Interesting. I like using salts, sulphur, powdered elements in spells, but I have to watch I don't poison myself. I think that magick allows me to bypass the laws of physics and create 'effect' without visible cause. Magick isn't a power, but the rights to will a change. A bit like read/write rights on a file. Most people have read rights in the universe while I have both. I know I'm cosmic but that's my way. Take care. 💓

I wonder if you see a kind of separation between what you call witchcraft and what others would identify as occultism. There is an obvious cultural difference in that so-called "western occultism" at least historically has been very male-dominated and heavily Abrahamic and most of the modern witchcraft movement seems much more egalitarian at least when it comes to gender and much less dogmatic. But insofar as there is any distinction at all, beyond the aesthetic differences of those who profess to practice one or the other, does witchcraft and occultism "do" the same thing? Do they serve the same purpose or share similar goals? I'm not the most knowledgeable about this stuff so I hope this make at least a little sense. Maybe I'm just getting hung up on the word "witch" vs other labels. This interests me because my father was actually heavily into ceremonial magic for a good portion of his life. In fact, on my desk right now is one of his books on 15th century monk/magician Johannes Trithemius filled with instructions on making sigils for various purposes or "drawing spirits in crystals". Like, proper medieval stuff lol.

Hi there, I've been very curious about the occult. I've never really done any research and have only just started looking into it. I feel like I should've done this earlier lol considering ive had paranormal experiences. I'm not a church goer but I believe in God and Jesus. My question and concern is would this be going against God? If I were to b uy this particular book for example would it harness something evil in my life and block me from God? Would I be forsaken? I would appreciate any info you could give or any literature I could research. Thank you

hi yes, you can be religious and spiritual, spiritual has to do with something completely different than the religious side of things, and it is throughout the bible, being baptized or doing the wine and cracker thing is a ritual, water to wine, sacrifice the list goes on and on. Some people are Wiccan or pagan and practice witchcraft but some people are Christian and a witch.. some witches do pray to the devil but most don't, I am a witch and I am best friends with so so many witches who are Christian, astrology, and herbalism, manifestation (very similar to praying ) that is spiritual. witches can still read the bible and pray to god. Spirituality has to do with finding your inner self and bettering yourself, using the things God has given us, and create more.

From the sound of it, you are try to meta game your subconscious by pretending to believe in the supernatural things your subconscious believe. That reminds of me how Jordan Peterson ascribes to christianity for the sake of the archetypes built into christianity and the bible.

One of the main reasons we are here is to seek a loving reconciled relationship with our God and Creator in Heaven Who wrote the Holy Bible to us by accepting His only begotten Son JESUS CHRIST as our Savior from our sins, because right now we are all separated from God in Heaven because of our sins, but Jesus Christ came down here from heaven (God on earth) and He was born one of us and He gave His perfect sinless life and suffered and died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins, and to reconcile us with God and He resurrected from the dead three days later and after living on earth for forty days He ascended back up into heaven so that we could have eternal life with Him and He is coming back again at the end of this world and everyone will see Him and be Judged by Him. ALWAYS BE THANKFUL FOR JESUS GOD IS: the Father the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit ALL at once, ALWAYS. He is the ONE TRUE ETERNAL LIVING GOD of all creation and He loves us and He wants us to be reconciled with Him through Jesus Christ, to live with Him forever in His Eternal Heavenly Kingdom. You can read about Jesus on earth in the Bible in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and if you read this and you realize and admit that you are a sinner who needs to be saved from their sins, and reconciled with God, like we all are, THEN ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR. THEN BECOME A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST, a CHRISTian, Christian (NOT CONFUSED WITH CATHOLIC) first by accepting Jesus as your Savior, then by reading the Holy Bible and praying (talking) to God every day of your life, and by imitating Jesus, the Bible tells us that Jesus on earth, showed us to be, obedient to God in heaven, loving, forgiving, kind, merciful, peaceful, humble, thankful, honest and much more! @@cassandralulu1141 It is spiritually impossible to be a Christian and a witch, witchcraft is part of the occult, God condemns it in the Bible more than once, and Christ IS the Bible in the flesh. CHRISTians, Christians, are followers of Christ, and Christ has nothing to do with witchcraft which is condemned in the Holy Bible, and neither do His followers

@@cassandralulu1141 Only a NOMINAL Christian, a person who is Christian by NAME alone , but does not know Christ or follow Him or act like Him, would ever say they are a witch, a real Christian follows Christ and Christ has nothing to do with witchcraft and the occult, which is condemned in the Holy Bible, and His followers have nothing to do with it either.
