The number one thing I wish I had learned sooner is that you don’t have to wait until your mental health is great to practice witchcraft. I stopped waiting around to be “well enough,” and discovered I can use the craft to help me feel more centered and grounded, which has helped my mental health immensely.

I totally completely relate. I do what i feel led or called to do. I stand on firm ground in my own light. It is a path i walk a canvas that is a constant work in progress. Some i feel i can learn from and or speak to....other times it is best i practice completely alone. I have had awful issues being judged...i wear a cloak during fall winter and in stores or other public places i see how my presence makes people nervous and distrustful. I just do what i have been called to do. I often wish people would ask rather than fear. But the answer more often and not makes it worse. I am not let anyone tell me who i am or what i can or cant be or where i should or should not go... I tend not to go where i know i am not welcome...but if i have to go to a store or whatever- like it or not i am going! My biggest lesson learned is what my intentions are is what has mattered most. I simply stand in my light.

Witchcraft is unique with each individual, for the most part, we don't even need the books and such because the magic comes within us. We don't even need to speak spells in different languages, we can actually create our own spells. What works for others may not work for us, we tend to create our own practises and sometimes we are not even aware of it.

As a person who was raised in a strict Christian household, something inside of me always was drawn and felt comfortable and familiar to me about the craft. I will never forget my first spell with my best friend as we light a candle and said our chant under the full autumn moon in a field surrounded by the woods of Maine. It was a special memory and that moment I felt connected to something bigger then myself and it felt so nice. I would try to practice witchcraft but then my families beliefs and my upbringing would scare me and shame me away from it. I did this a few times and now finally at 37 I am embracing who I am and what my heart desires which is to walk the way of the witch. I went through a dark night of the soul and tower moment in my life which opened my eyes and release me from the bondages of limiting beliefs and fears especially concerning religion dogma and the thought of hell as my punishment for my choice. I no longer live in fear and enjoy my life tremendously more walking the way of the witch. I love it and it feels so natural and familiar. I am thankful for my new found freedom and the love and enjoyment I have embracing my heart as a witches heart! Blessed be!

I've been studying and practicing for 25 years and I can tell you that you will never stop learning. That's part of the journey. This video is a beautiful reminder to witches of all ages and training that no matter how long you've been doing it, we can always learn and relearn things. You can't have proper spellwork without intention and putting your spirit into what you're doing. I appreciate you pointing that out. With the age of social media, many times there's more "decoration" but a lack of intention which is something I even noticed among people that liked the idea but never became serious about it even 25 years ago. Witchcraft is something in you that calls to you. You feel things that others may not nor have they awakened to yet. As you said, it should be something you enjoy, a place and time to manifest your energy to help those around you, a kinship with nature and understanding the light and dark of the world and how to navigate through that effectively and in a healthy manner. It's a thing of beauty and learning the old ways mixed with the modern. I bid you lots of learning and peace on your journey and thank you for this reminder!

Hey I am new to witchcraft Can you please tell me from where to start. The comments are about spells Do you make them yourself And i am just 15 hope its alright Please provide me with some simple tips. And what is having spirit companion.
@crissya53202 жыл бұрын
@@Shinoku_edits I strongly suggest spending some quiet time alone in nature, meditating or if you're not around quiet places and cannot get to them easily, find some time during your day that IS quiet, light some incense with parental permission, or a candle and just clear your mind, breathe, and envision your spirit guides as light. Also READ. Read many books by various witches through time that have learned themselves. Read and research books on plants and their benefits. Study candle magick. Study classic and modern techniques to gain an understanding moving forward. This doesn't mean that what's right for someone else is right for you. But learning from others can help in your craft and once you're in a position to have your own little items to aid in your craft, you'll have a better understanding of your own purpose. You're young yet, so I always say to read and learn what you can. When I was your age, it was all feeling. I had very few books on the subject, but I utilized nature around me. If it was raining, I would sit in my room with the windows open, a candle or incense lit, and meditate with the rain, focusing my mind on controlling the temperature around me. I would begin to feel fluctuations in warmth. A spirit companion is someone you call to for daily guidance. Every religion or spiritual field has them. It could be an animal familiar that you always see more than others, a relative that has passed on, some people refer to their spirit guides as "angels". You can also write down your dreams in a journal to save for the rest of your life so you can always look back and see if anything was trying to speak to you in sleep. I'd also do that too. Once you're feeling confident and have grasped where you want to take your witchcraft and the knowledge you've learned about plants, herbs, crystals, and just nature in general...you can craft your own spells. It's always about intent. What's your intent in the objects you're using? It sound likes a lot, but I hope I've given you some good advice. Don't be overwhelmed. I totally remember being 15 and wishing I had a witch elder to guide me. Sometimes you learn best alone and in your own thoughts. Books are your friend though and with the age of the internet, you have unlimited information. Something I didn't have at your age. haha Good luck!
@fredrikazablocki23112 жыл бұрын
@@Shinoku_edits First of all...relax. Take your time, read, and if you are able in your area, see if you can find a group of like minded people you can talk with. I was lucky, I found a supply store and came to be friends with the owner. I learned much from him and even took classes with him. I met many witches in the store, but was worried about them finding out that my path was that of a growing Christian witch. Turns out I was worried about nothing. They accepted my path, and with one exception, were welcoming and kind and helpful and always ready to share their own and what they had learned. And like the Green Witch said, your path will come to you, and it will be your own,. Especially ay 15, you have time to learn and grow, so take your time. Chill, your practice will come, and it will be yours, and that's a good thing,

One thing that has been helping me is to follow the natural cycles like the moon and sun through the traditional pagan holidays. I’m more of a celestial type witch though. I do my practice by the moon, but I also celebrate the sun-marker holidays like Imbolc and Yule etc. Just paying attention to the moon cycles has been helpful to me. But I personally don’t feel overwhelmed or perfectionistic about the work. It’s too personal to allow outside opinions and requirements space. Pagans and witches have been plagued by outside controllers and invasion for centuries, so no one is going to do that to me in my practice today. It’s a slow, personal path. Thank you very much 🌎🔥💧🌬

I just wanted to add that you don’t have go to a “witch school” or have a “real witch teacher”. If someone is coming to you and saying they can teach you, especially at a price...run. Lol. That is not what witchcraft or a magical path is about. If you seek that out for yourself that’s one thing. But now one should come to you and offer services or tell you that they will teach you the “right” way to do Magick. They are in it for the wrong reasons. EVERYTHING you need to know, you can find out on your own through research. Also, please don’t go to someone who has been practicing for a while and has lots of knowledge and expect them to take time out of their lives to give you advice. Especially advice that is easy to research. As Annie’s suggests, just take your time. Your personal Magick shouldn’t be rushed.

Yes. Everything you need to know, you can find out on your own. However, I think it's also worth your time if you enjoy having guidance and feedback from a qualified teacher. If it's not a financial burden, and you want to support a teacher, then go for it - but be sure to research the school. Some of them hire teachers who really are not qualified to teach. The reason I enjoy schools is that I am a teacher by profession. I've always enjoyed being a student. I've always enjoyed teaching. I am proud of my degrees and certifications. They have helped me in my career path as a teacher. That being said, you can still find out everything on your own if you have basic research and critical thinking skills. There are a few skills that are best learned with a teacher nearby - herbal medicine, for example. Some skills are best attained by hands-on experience with a qualified expert overseeing your progress. I didn't get certified to be a K-8 teacher by research alone - I had to practice, be assessed, and learn by doing. The same can be applied to some areas of witchcraft - but most people can still learn about everything by reading about it.

Why do you need to be torn? Wisdom is found in many places. You can be Christian and practice witchcraft. Why not? I am mainly pagan, but I read the Hindu Vedas, various Buddhist texts, the Bible, etc. I am even going to go for a Masters in Catholic Theology to understand the historical aspect of Christianity. Open your mind and realize answers are not rigid and stale, but living and evolving.

I've been practicing for at least 40 yrs. And still feel like a beginner. Lol. But, i came from a background like yours & I'm telling you its EXTREMELY HARD to practice & keep a Christian faith. I ended up having to choose one over the other. I picked paganism/witchcraft over christian. There are to many clashes between them & it was an emotional rollercoaster. I went back to christianity multiple times (out of guilt,etc) & it just didn't work out for me. Maybe it wont happen to you but, if it does. Dont waste time, energy, etc. Just go with what you feel is right & pick a side. You could dive into Italian practices, especially segnature: most of the traditional witchcraft here in Italy is centered around the cult of Saints and Virgin Mary. Of course it would work better assuming you're catholic, but it might still be a nice way to understand how a very different religion (one that we definitely not usually associate with witchcraft) can still be reconciliated with all these practices.

You'll find that most if not all voodoo/hoodoo practitioners are also Catholic due to the past, when slaves had to hide their gods behind the Saints. I find it odd that Christianity rejects witchcraft, yet they do rituals and they light candles for prayer for help etc.

For me it means I follow the pagan/agrarian calendar, observe pagan holidays, hold nature as sacred, do not believe in Gods/Goddesses (but sometimes enjoy archetypes of them) or much of the metaphysical. I think the world as is, is magical. Spells and rituals, for me, look like meditation, setting intentions coupled with some theatre, and often just the act of doing an activity. So a spell for protection for my husband, is literally the act of knitting him a scarf :) I do spell bottles and such too but they are about focusing on the cause and effect I want, and then once its cast - actually working toward my goal. Hello, thank you for taking the time to do this video. I am not a witch (maybe I am!), but have just begun to study the ancient runes and found my way to your video this morning, Thanksgiving Day! Your information was quite relative. The amount of information regarding the Runes is overwhelming in the beginning and it takes a long term commitment and dedicated practice that will span for many years to come. Most importantly, as you point out, one needs to develop their own personal style and constantly remember that their personal style is a gift to their craft, a Gift to the Universe. I had no knowledge of the Runes until recently. Somehow, they called out to me and I have begun to study them and feel called to practice the craft. Thank you. Everything you said in this video applies to my study of the Runes.

Thank you so much for saying everything you've said. I've been practicing for a few years now & I've never felt connected to any Pagan God, so I myself do not follow any. From day one I've always been really drawn to candle magic, bought many books, made my own candles, just love everything about it. When I first started my path I was told to never blow out the candle after a spell, along with many other "never do" things, but it just made me feel like I didn't belong because it didn't feel right. So that's when I realized it's "my" path & I started doing what felt right to me not what "they" told me I should be doing. I've relaxed a lot since then & now it's much more enjoyable for me. Blessings 💜

Something that I wish I knew is… Don’t be afraid of what others might think. Some days I kind of kick myself because I know I would have been happier today, separating myself from an organized religion to something more nature/self love based. I’ve learned that, yes, my parents may not be happy with the path I’ve chosen, but I am. I wish I knew this when I was younger and first interested in becoming Wiccan. I was originally Mormon, but found no comfort or self love because everything felt competitive, fear and guilt based, and like no matter how much of my life’s credit I gave to a god that never answered, I was never happy. I learned about witchcraft at the age of 16 but felt immense guilt with showing the slightest bit of interest. I’m now 22 and have been on a slow journey for the past two years. It’s been an amazing time discovering myself and my potential along with finding balance in who I am and with the world around me. Take it a day at a time, it isn’t a race. So, go on that nice nature stroll of life and love the things and people around you. May the goddess bless you

There’s no one right way to do things and looking the part doesn’t make you more advanced either. But if your lost on where to start, try learning about nature in your area. Learn the plants and trees. Keep notes on the weather and what changes happen at certain times of year. You’ll notice little things. That’s a start.

Thank you for reminding me that witchcraft is a fun and relaxing thing, not something that should add more stress to my life or be another thing on my "to-do" list. Just try to incorporate it in any sort of way whenever you can and feel like it

Im a complete beginner. I have been calling myself a wannabe witch since I have not really done any practice. I thought I needed to buy a bunch of tools to get started and have a ton of time to put into my practice. This gives me hope that I can switch from being a wannabe witch to actually saying Im a witch. I have been looking into green witchcraft and kitchen witchcraft because I love the idea of working with herbs and cooking. I am also drawn to the moon, crystals, and nature in general. I always love the idea of living in a cottage in the forest. So hopefully I can find myself through practice.

I remember reading books on Wicca 20-some-odd years ago and they felt very dogmatic. Maybe that’s where a lot of the insecurity comes from for some people. It did for me and that’s why I’m just returning now to witchcraft after so long.
@catherineshaw11223 жыл бұрын
Yes! Structure, dogma and hierarchy have no place in my life as a witch. Intuition, connection and freedom. Those are the foundations for me.

I think the best part that you mentioned was how your practice can be individual to you and you don't need to follow one particular religious idea, you can even be atheist and practice witchcraft. It made me think of the 4 elements, ancestor work, crystals, fae, and other non religious-based forms of witchcraft. That would actually be a really cool video idea

All rituals like self initiation rituals I've read range from archaic to relatively mundane and just doesn't feel right but some small parts of all of them will vibe, just not as a whole. I ended up finding a comment someone said and it was "you can combine and make your own self initiation ritual/rite as long as you're of pure intent. You are correct with everyone's path and practice is different and that's what makes it so grand, both in demonolitry and witchcraft or LHP, all paths can be moulded to vibe perfectly with the individual. :)

Also, if anyone has advice for being a witch when your whole family is Christian? I wish I could share that part of my life with them, but my mom openly told me that witches are evil, and she thinks they are Satanists (even though I know that's not true). My struggle is getting past the annoying guilt that's always around. It's gotten easier over the years but it's still sometimes there.

I don’t have any tips besides avoid being sus in any way. Like I’m a closet witch and I make sure to keep anything remotely witchy away from them. Also you’re not alone in this there are lots of us in the same situation!

My mom found out and she got a book on this and told me she was happy to know that my practice was not about Satan.. my mom accepted me and it took me years to let her know. I think if you explain it in the loving way and a good book that explains it well that might help.. its up to you. I wish you calm and peace. Blessed be

Hey Rebekah, I'm born in a Christian family, in fact, I'm a Christian as well. Is witchcraft a satanist? No, it's not a satanist but it's an open door for spiritual realms to come into your life. We are a Christian knows that there's so much more happening in the spiritual realms and we're called to rebuke them because we believe in spiritual warfare (demon casting etc). I'm sure you mom intentions are, didn't want you to get involved because there's so much we don't know what's happening in spiritual realms because we can't see it. That's why we need to be careful of what we allow for an open door in our life from the spiritual realms. Anyway, I'll be praying for you Rebekah. Take care and God bless.

hey! i know this is an old video, and i doubt many will see this, but i wish to share my short story anyway. A year ago, when i just discovered witchcraft, i loved it. But i'd first like to note that i wasn't doing well, mentally. From personal experience, if i had a choice now, i would not start my witchcraft journey if i wasn't at least a little bit mentally stable, for it just put too much pressure on me, still sometimes, even though i'm healed a great deal, so i take my practise slow now and even took a half year long break to just regain my senses and ground. When i read about, and got my first pendulum a year ago, i was so happy and immediately started asking questions to god knows what, many inaproppriate ones as well (about other people). I even tried to communicate to spirits and thought i was talking to Lucifer a little while, but after i read about poltergeists i banished anything that i may have been talking with. (if i was talking to anything at all: i found out a little while later that i was unconsiously moving the pendulum myself) But that whole situation got me really stressed out for a good long while and whenever i pick up my pendulum or practise my craft, i get anxious, thinking about last year. I know that i am safe, nothing has happened to me and i got even better, but my mind now associates witchcraft (the incense, candles and just overall practise) with that anxious and scared feeling. I love it, do not get me wrong, and i want to continue my journey. But i need to get over this small "trauma", if anybody has any advice to offer, it would be of great relief to me. I am just a stupid teenager and for my money it was just an ordinary c0ckup. I guess i learned the hard way.

the path of wicca was originally taught by a very organised preisthood of women.Later on the remnants of this path was taught by women who all had long distance connections with these original preisthoods.The ancestral path was primarily ritual of remebering, so remember.Find a really good medium and speak to your aunt,she has a few things to say to you.And study yoga,it will greatly strengthen your soul and body.

i love these kinda videos, its so reaffirming. i have always thought of it like a garden. people can have them in different seasons, in different sizes, maybe outside, maybe inside in a window, etc, etc. there's so many ways to have your own lil garden. over time you learn more, it grows, you grow. might be unruly at times, some plants could die, but that doesnt make it any less a garden. ive been practicing off and on really since i can remember, its always been fascinating to me since i was a kid cause my mom (a christian) was who introduced me to the craft. one of the first differences i noticed with my own practice is not having a deity, or at least not in the same sense. for me it was important to stay grounded and remember silver linings. so my personal deity is many things. rotting compost, flies, maggots, all the gross stuff basically. because as unpleasant as it may be at times, it helps the balance of things. that even something so small plays a much bigger, and needed role. it helps me look on the more positive side of things, even if they may at first appear disgusting. to any young witches reading this, it doesnt have to be pretty, and its ok to make mistakes and make a mess. we all have.

Alba 005 bless you, even doing little things like gardening can be seen as a type of witchery, also cooking and cleaning, if you put good intentions into what you do, even if you are not a witch you'll always good outcomes. It is 3njoyablw to watch others practice, I have always been a witch, I think for many lives too, there's so much stigma from the days of the purests and priests but most witch craft isn't based on religion or the devil. Although there are witch's that do like to serve this being, what ever he is, but most of what we practice is personal to us. And for me respecting people for whatever they just is their birthright and should be respected, no matter who you are, what you do, what you believe ❤️ love and blessings to you dear one 🙏💕💗
