The referees undoubtedly need to be replaced. While I have an extensive explanation for this necessity, I will reserve that discussion for later. A contact foul is significantly different from a flagrant foul; however, players in the WNBA seem to have a confused understanding of the two. Acknowledging that it's a very physical sport, contact fouls are expected, but when a player hits another from behind or intentionally tries to injure an opponent to prove a point, it crosses into assault. Meanwhile, referees seem to ignore these incidents.
