Some men are confused when they hear this, thinking "there isn't a problem, this doesn't need to be said". Many, many women hear this and say "if only this wasn't a problem, I wouldn't have had that terrible experience." No, not all men are predators. Yes, all women have been preyed upon.

As a man, I think this woman is phenomenal. It's funny, true form of expression, and her voice is great. As for a voice of rational speech, feminism, or equality. It is not, as it basically just calls men idiots that don't know how to think with their head. It is equality in the sense as men make similar songs demeaning women. So all the power to you!! Freedom of expression should be encouraged in all forms of media

It's a critique on the "men just have really strong sex drives and can't help themselves" argument, which can be seem, for instance, when enforcing dress codes in high schools, because boys witnessing the sight of a bra strap on a girl's shoulder will just distract them too much to focus on school work. The girl's attire is stimulating this "uncontrollable" sexuality and they can't help but be distracted. It's not true and all and we should all realize this, but this excuse of "boys will be boys" continues to be used. That's why exaggerating it in this way is useful, it draws attention to how ridiculous the argument is. Strong sexual attraction or not, rape is rape so don't do it. In terms of consent, it's not something that is talked about very much. Girls are constantly being educated on how to prevent rape (as if they are the cause and not the raper), rather than educating boys on what rape means, what consent means, and what no consent means. This is why people may argue that by getting drunk, going to someone's house, wearing a particular outfit, falling asleep, etc. a woman is "asking for it", and in other words, giving consent. Society is confused on what it means to say yes or to say no, when really its as easy as asking or confirming if the sexual partner actually wants sex. This song may seem belittling in the common sense of men, but it brings attention to the fact that many people don't know what consent is, or assume consent based on an unrelated circumstance (insert examples of "asking for it" here).

How did we end up here!?! Like seriously i know people make songs called "shits fucked" but how did we end up here? Ultimately sad that we even have to have extremist saying this... This should something fictional, something made up. Still tho, this woman is sexist as hell.

***** This song is great, but to take it as a message that men can't even bother to use their heads for simple decisions like this, is a little retarded. That's why this would be considered sexist. If it were a song towards rapists opposed to men....then it would most likely be less sexist. The fact that a man would get offended by this is probably a good sign, as it shows that he wouldn't want to be even associated with the topic of rape.

***** She sings a smart arse song implying men are dumb. Men don't rape women by accident and so her sarcastic 'If you think it might be rape then don't do it, makes zero fcuking sense. Men who rape, want to rape, they are not confused about what they are doing and couldn't care less if the woman wants to or not. Lets be honest, this song is aimed at a very very particular type of rape where a man believes a woman to be consenting... you know, like the Ched Evans case in the UK. Rachel Lark is very typical dumb feminist who relies on smart ass sarcasm as a means of humor.

dublinvids +theuncrediblepointofview ....some of you guys clearly haven't been very involved in conversations about this stuff, because 'I'M/WE'RE TOO DUMB TO KNOW BETTER!!'/'HOW AM I/WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW??'/'IT'S SO CONFUSING!!' (basically most of the lines she's used in this song) are lines i've actually heard a lot in these kinds of discussions about rape, particularly with regards to college guys and rampant sexual assault on college campuses. part of it comes down to the fact we don't talk about consent in school sex ed, and part of it is the (bad) way we socialize boys/men-- is it sexist? yeah, it is kinda sexist towards men that we think they're so basic their sex drive can't let them function appropriately--but it's the kind of sexist we actually see in society used to justify rape. don't get mad at the song/artist, get mad at rapists/rape apologists who use their dicks as an excuse to be shitty.

+Mikayla Hellwich Silence isn't 'No' either. Men are not clairvoyant. I've been with girls that will roll their eyes if you start asking "Can I.." questions. It's ruins the mood. Some girls are submissive during sex and so them not saying much if anything at all would be their turn on. If women have an issue with something that is happening, or they feel, about to happen, they need to open their mouths and verbalize it.
@JohnSmith-td7hd7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how a song sung to women about telling men not to rape, and which insults men as a sex, addresses anything.
