You can’t compare children of family vloggers with child actors. Child actors have limited work hours and protections. Children of vloggers have no escape and no guaranteed protections or down time. They aren’t playing a role… they are having their own world exposed to the world.
@DA-te5be2 күн бұрын
You very much can: kids don't always have the mental dexterity to distinguish what's real and pretend and despite the safeguards in place, they don't always stand. Would it be okay for an 8 year old or a toddler to work at a factory "with limited work hours and protections"? Child actors and vloggers are child laborers

Family vloggers..argh! The lazy parents that exploit their children for wealth! Totally disgusting! Read Shari Franke’s book - the first of the family vlogging family that aged out. Her book ‘The. House of my Mother’. She sums it up perfectly- there is no ethical or moral family vlogger parent. She GREW UP IN THAT ATMOSPHERE!!

Why is it so complicated to share family photos/vidoes to a small private group, not share publicly?? It feels like intentional ignorance to this option. Its great to be proud of your kids and want to share with others, but sharing with a private set of friends/family/etc is hugely difference to "sharing" publicly and making a spectacle and show of your life. That's a much more complicated situation and prone to exploitation (even unintentionally or naively)

😂Once it becomes your source of income, then it completely changes. It’s crazy that we already learned these lessons in the early days of the movie industry. The problem is that the US prioritizes capitalism and the ‘rights’ of parents much more than the safety of children.

They only took down 8 Passengers because the mom almost killed her 2 youngest. YT doesn't care. There's a reason Shari Franke is pushing for legal protections for kids of family vloggers in her state.

It's a zero sum game.. but I personally think that any parent that family blogs with a young family is probably a bit psychotic! How do you in this day and age not think about the long term effects on the family, pedophiles and the comments section... And that stuff is on the web forever!

I never knew about family vlogging.....boy, learned something different. I would like to know how many people knew about this before....I know I use youtube for a lot of other types of content - such as the Daily Show, but also huge fan of classic films and watch a ton of that here.
@achohelelwhy22 сағат бұрын
It's been around as long as youtube has been around. It's also extremely popular in the Mormon community because of their belief of journaling, documenting family history, and missionary work. Not to mention the community is great for MLM, so they boost eachother up. 8 Passengers is an example- Ruby Franke, the woman who was sent to prison with her co-cult leader for aggravated child abuse? The 2 kids who were emaciated, fans saw grow up. A lot of family vloggers are also VERY aware of who's watching their content, what I mean to say is they know and play to child predators, because they have access to analytics of their channel. All of Ruby's siblings and her parents family vlog, too. Bonnie, her sister, is currently making money off of a video and being an Amazon affiliate for a book about what happened written by Ruby's eldest, Shari- she's making money off of her estranged niece's book. This is just one microcosm of it. It's a gross, vast network of narcissists who trade their kids' innocence for a paycheck.

Wow! I have several pairs of those exact eye frames. Just $20 at Zenni Optical. They also come in fluorescent orange and purple. Had all 3 as sunglasses before, as well as with clear with the blue uv blocker lenses. Found it's a great thing to have the frames the same size. So when you break a piece, you have plenty of back up pieces available.

I enjoyed the docuseries, and while I very much appreciated the filmmakers’ attempt to portray all sides of the story, I felt she was far too soft on the Stauffers. A LOT was left out-there is footage Myka uploaded herself in which she indicates a willful rejection of the medical complexity of Huxley’s condition. There are several videos that show a far more grizzly picture of what happened that were curiously left out. If a viewer is unaware of these examples, it would be easy to walk away from the docuseries thinking Myka and James were just kindly, well-meaning people who got in over their heads, when in reality, I definitely believe there is something more sinister going on. The narcissism on display in so many of their videos is alarming. And while I absolutely agree that the vitriol directed at them was extreme and truly appalling and unacceptable, I found the filmmaker to be very hypocritical. She asked Sophie Ross if she regretted amplifying the Stauffers situation, yet here the filmmaker is-four years on-dredging up the story! Does SHE regret amplifying the story now? When the Stauffers probably hoped that the brouhaha was long behind them. She also highlighted the fact that critical KZbinrs made money off their content, yet the docuseries is making her some money. The featured buzzfeed and business insider journalists made money of their reporting of the Stauffers. Why is it wrong for KZbinrs to monetize their videos. At the end of the day, what the Stauffers did was horrific. They handled pretty much every aspect of it incredibly poorly. Just because some people reacted inappropriately to what they did doesn’t make the Stauffers the victims.

@PaulaRoedererКүн бұрын
Child beauty pageants were always unethical and dangerous. Same for child actors; if a parent is not a strong advocate for their child and/or is more interested in exploiting their child for money and attention, those children are heavily traumatized, and in some cases completely destroyed. Even in the best case scenario, where the child is protected and advocated for, the pressure of fame at such an early age, and the loss of it when they're older and not as cute can do real psychological damage.
