Isn't funny how as parents or even as society we care so much about having somone to carry our name or our legacy but unless your so famous your in the history books, youre forgotten by your great grand kids. Most of us wouldn't even remember anybody beyond our greats
@KP-vg3zn3 жыл бұрын
That just depends on how you've been raised & taught about family. I actually live in the house my great grandfather built in 1930. My family on my grandfathers & grandmothers side still live on the same land from the 1700s. My daughter is even named after my great grandfather, Avery. Majority of the families where I live have been here for 100s of years and know their family history.

@@spaceman9599 so ur saying u know who ur great grandfather and great grandmother is?
@spaceman95993 жыл бұрын
@@stevekima8881 Yes. Easy to look up for most people in the UK due to good birth/death registers. We managed to get it back 5-7 generations on all branches, before internet was around to help. Not as easy for everyone - depends on the country, family circumstances, whether your family had moved around a lot (especially if due to war or other cause for refugee status), etc. But you'll note many of the people on the show are able to trace ancestors across generations and continents - however the show is misleading since obviously money is put behind the search. Still, there are many sites doing this digitally now.

Really? The only satisfaction I have in the arrangement is that our Head of State is a non-entity that should stay on his side of the pond, unless he wants to pay his own way here. The vice-regal Governor General is another non-entity whom most cannot name. The Prime Minister is just the leader of a political party…and almost always an MP, but again, a non entity. Can you imagine having Bozo the Clown as your Head of State, as the Americans will on 20 January 2025.

No one mentions how loyal all Americans were prior to independence when fighting the Indians and the French, together we beat the French, many native Americans remained loyal to the crown and expected the treaties to be honoured. But that’s when the Turn coats got greedy and broke their oaths and the treaties to build America where some men are more equal than others. All the honourable people moved to Canada

What I found was a similar history to Rachel's ancestors. My family was originally in the U.S.A and the family became divided after the revolution however my great grandfather x5 was British Loyalist as well and faught at the battle Saratoga and ended up being a POW after the British lost. He too was given land in Ontario. It must have been a very difficult time for them. Rachel if you dig deeper you may be able to find out more history from when your family was in the U.S.
