Sadly the Labour Chancellor doesn't understand that the poorest in society are being robbed by the employer NI tax increases. Workers in the agency labour supply industry are paid an assignment rate that incorporates employer's NI!!! It is processed by third party payroll companies. Both Agency and Payroll companies have been colluding for many years now over paying the worker an assignment rate where the worker foots the employer's and the employee's national insurance tax. This is blindness by the Labour Party. The result is a tax on the poorest.
@Nappanaia8 сағат бұрын
So, in some cases it's true that agency and contract workers are paid an assignment rate, which sometimes includes various costs, including NI, into a single rate. It's a common approach in temporary staffing and the rate is paid by the client company. But it's not unique to Labour; it's an issue in the agency sector that has been around for a long time, regardless of which party is in power. Agency workers might experience more financial difficulty, it's just not a 'tax on the poorest'. The NI tax increase applies to ALL employers. It's a problem with the pay structure for agency workers. At worst, Labour hasn't tailored their budget to account for how agency work is structured rather than just deliberately ignoring it (and I'll remind; this is not a new problem). Concern over NI impact is valid, but you are oversimplifying the issue to be squarely a fault of the Labour party and NI policy alone. Better protections in the agency sector would be a better thing to want rather than just pointing at Labour and leaving it there.

Labour equals more tax More tax means you work and get less in your pocket. We will end up working 9 months of the year for the state. Welcome to Labour

A raise on capital gains tax and insurance for employers so they can squeeze their workers? Oh and any inheritance you decide to leave your children. But, wait. You're either a bot or deliberately ignorant. Wage increases stimulate consumer spending and benefits productivity (the latter of which is one of the biggest issues the country is facing), you're disregarding the experience of low-wage workers from wage hikes and a general increase in purchasing power. This is just dismissive because you've oversimplified something to suit a position you already held.
