All other services have to pay VAT (and can claim back) why should schools be any different, what's so special about them. They are completely dependent on the state for the supply of teachers. setting curriculums, student progression etc so why should the state make such an exemption for them. The anomaly was the exclusion in the first place.

Also at present there isn't the capacity in the state sector to absorb the extra kids pushed out of private education, and the need to not disrupt their education and exams by shifting kids en masse into different schools.
