I love how she said her favourite cartoon was beauty and the beast because belle can see past someone's appearance. I genuinely think thats a message so many of the snow white haters need to learn. By casting someone of color as snow white Disney is not trying to mock your beloved fairytale, but actually make it a message and a story that hits deep for every single child across the wolrd, that the most beautiful girl in all the world is not the prettiest because of how white her skin is or how red her lips, but because of how strong and sweet and kind a person they are. Many people won't be able to appreciate this message because they're probably white, but trust me, ask ANY Ethnicity of color, south asian, east asian, arab, African, latin american, middle east,- anywhere where the people have a darker skin shade, the beauty standard will nearly ALWAYS be that the lighter your skin the prettier you are, the paler the prettier, the whiter the more beautiful, and this has caused SO MANY thousands of girls grow up so so so insecure and hating their appearance, so angry at something they cant conteol. And its made worse when we all grow up seeing all of the beautiful beautiful princess in all of the fairytales have white skin and pink cheeks. By casting someone of color as snow white they're keeping the fairy tale but changing the messsge. That you don't need to have white skin to be pretty, you dont need to have the whitest of whitest skin, you need be beautiful inside and that will outshine anyone whose character is evil and cruel.

That’s all well and good but all of those ethnicities you listed would have a fit if one of their stories was retold with a white person cast. In fact, that’s happened, and they were really mad. So it’s more a matter of if it bothers you, you can probably understand why it bothers someone else. White people have stopped doing it, note how many white actors even stopped voicing characters with ethnic backgrounds. The same people who demanded that be done are now shrugging their shoulders and saying “why do you guys even care about skin colour?” It’s incredibly disingenuous and people see right through it and are sick of it, even if the overall subject matter is something that doesn’t ordinarily interest them.

@@AEJones-dl9nn I get your point, I'll credit you that, but there is a big thing you're overlooking. the ethnicities listed, were ethnicities that have been INCREDIBLY unrepresented or blatantly misrepresented in the whole of Hollywood for generations. so when these people get mad at white people for taking their roles, it's not because 'skin color actually matters' but because this was their specific role and chance to represent their race and nation. And when someone of colored skin takes a white role, I too generally dislike it, like if they did live action frozen or tangled etc as brown kids I would be soo angry, BUT this case of snow white is different, because its about the message of the fairytale, that any skin coloured girl can be the most beautiful girl in all the kingdom, and the inclusion of different races in our traditionally white fairytales etc. i also severely dislike the blatant hate the actress has been getting, as if she cast herself and it was her decision. overall tho, i get your point in aspect to other stories tho, hope i didn;t come off as aggressive 🥲🥲

I am NOT a bot, ok, because I know that one dude is gonna say I am. I have always loved and respected rachel, I think shes so sweet and dedicated to every job, and she's actually so caring as a person. I think people nowadays forget that we all, every single one of us, makes mistakes that are of varying offense to differnt people. Thats fine, as long as you hold yourself accountable and apologise for it, which is EXACTLY what she did, so all of the trump supporters need to acknowledge that she has not only apologised but also reached out to try and work together for a 'more peaceful tomorrow'.
