Not to mention that they completely cut out the wedding and replaced the queen's death with the lame fall off a cliff. The original story had the queen try 3 different times to kill her, the apple being the last and a piece getting lodged in the throat. But considering they were making it for families to watch, I can see why they would prefer to leave the real ending out. Not sure the moms would appreciate watching the prince and snow white make the queen dance in hot iron shoes until she died, for their wedding guests entertainment as revenge.

This is the thing, I’m not on the “Right”, nor am I even “Right-Leaning”, I have always been Centre/Centre-Left Leaning… and I just do not understand why so many Studios - doesn’t matter if it’s Movies, TV, Comics or Video Games - INSIST on this weird “Strong Women” trope, and “Reimagining” stories, that has been proven time and time and time again to not work 🤷🏻‍♂️ They tried the all women Oceans Eleven and it failed, they tried the all women Birds of Prey and it failed, they tried it with The Marvels and it failed, the most groaned at part of both Infinity War and Endgame were the “girl power” parts … I genuinely don’t understand why studios keep on insisting on it. And it’s not like strong, female protagonists don’t work either - look at Terminator with Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor! She was fucking awesome in T1 & T2! Because she was a well written character who, in T1 was just a waitress who couldn’t fight, and was utterly unprepared, who managed to use a combination of intelligence and luck to beat the Terminator in T1, and by T2 she was a strong, seasoned bad ass who’d prepared herself as best as she could for the coming Judgement Day … that’s how you write a strong female character

Of course Disney is going to back pedal, especially considering the story is a classic that many already judged them about changing details on. For example, the apple in the original was not poisoned. In the original tale, the queen makes 2 attempts before the apple. One where she says she's selling corsets and puts one on her so tight she passes out, but the dwarves come home and cut her out. Similarly she came back posing a merchant and used a hair comb to stab her scalp, the comb actually having poison but her somehow surviving after the dwarves pull it out. Then the last attempt, Snow white gets some of the apple lodged in her throat and they think she's dead. The prince comes and sees the memorial they built and asks to take her back to his kingdom. Upon moving her, the apple dislodged and she wakes up to her prince charming. That's not even the darkest part of it. That would be the real ending of the brother's grimm tale. You see in the original ending, Snow White and the prince invite the 'Evil queen' to their wedding. She's then forced to put on a pair of hot iron shoes and dance until she dies, for the entertainment of their wedding guests... Yeah, pretty different from the Disney version.

One thing to keep in mind about Snow White and the other classic fairy tales and folklore in general: They are not telling the stories we, as modern people, think they are telling. Snow White is not, in fact, the story of a helpless teenage girl that gets stalked and basically sa'd by an entitled man. That was never the framing or message. Pre-modern people told stories wrapped in metaphor and symbolism and just because we've abandoned that language doesn't mean that we should look at them through our strictly rational framework. It's my assertion that not only is something like classic Snow White relevant now, it is more relevant today than when it was adapted by The Mouse and far more than when it was written.

You say that Snow White is going to do well. I'm not so sure. They have done 5 test screenings of the movie and all 5 were complete flops. They would go back and tweak the movie based on the results of one test only to have the next test show it still is a flop. There are more rumors floating that this movie will never be released in theaters and will go straight to streaming, ostensibly to reduce the damage. Releasing a movie and having it win the category of the biggest flop in history is not a good move. And in the end, all the backlash about this movie is how woke Disney went. The real story isn't Zegler...she's a horrible actress which she confirms with every movie she is put into. The real story is that Disney is pushing wokism. They are moving away from family values, the thing they were most famous for. Snow White being such a woke nightmare is an example of how far off the charted course Disney has gone.

My understanding is that Snow White isn't just random. The characters in the story are on purpose. I attended a mental health class where they use the 7 dwarfs to illustrate ways we subconsciously deal with our issues. In one theory I've seen 8:25 the prince is Death. Also, I don't remember the prince being a stalker. The kissing a comatose person must have been a cultural thing, like a "you had to be there" joke, back when our Fairy tales were starting out. Also I've read theories about Fairy tales being an interpretation of growing up and the characters are representations of parts of our mental experiences.

As an actor you need roles to earn money. Its a job. I dont care if an actor likes a particular role, as long as he or she plays is well snd I feel its real (even while knowing its not) I really couldnt give damn. I dont care if Zegler likes Snow White, I want her to play the role. Unfortunately, she and Disney made this re-make about everything - except Snow White. Also, big disagree there: The Little Mermaid was also a Disney classic remade and didnt earn them back their investment. Not even close. And their actors werent as disliked as Zegler either. Prediction : it'll be a mediocre live action movie that parents have grandparents week that their kids and grandkids to in order to relive a sweet memory and share that experience with a new generation. The activity itself will be more memorable to both the young and old than the implementation of the story itself. Based on this bump it'll stay just barely profitable enough for Disney to realize if this were not a sequel, they would have lost their ass on the project, even though it wasn't particularly expensive. This will either show doubling down on "safe"films until they crash or spark a fire under their ass to get creative and original ideas into the pipeline since they're burning cash and still feeling uncertain on what should be a layup ofa project.

Mr. Boyd, with all due respect sir, just because disney made this movie does NOT mean that it will do well. Look at the last 5 yrs of MsheU movies. Each one has gotten progressively worse, in general. This version of Snow White will tank and add to the list of flops adding to their red side of the ledger. Most parents in these United States are getting or have gotten sick and tired of all the dei crap that has permeated the entertainment industry as well as many others.

Nope. It's going to bomb. It is not a remake of Lion King that most parents and kids are familiar with. It's 100 yr old Snow White redone with the 7 colors of Benetton...oops.... the Benetton gaggle of friends are gone now and they're replaced with digitally added dwarves. I bet that was costly.

Zegler claims to be a "person of color" because of her mother's mother who immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia. But 88% of Colombians identify as ethnically White as they are descendants from Spanish conquistadors. So, if we are going to play the victim game then doesn't Zegler owe some reparations to the surviving native born Colombians after HER ancestors wiped out 95% of them? As for Zegler's father, his family immigrated from Bavaria (a region of Poland and Germany) following WW2. Zegler insists that they are "NOT JEWISH!" So, one must wonder what was Zegler's father's family doing between the years of 1932 and 1945? Could their name be a clue? Ziegler, as it is properly spelled means "brick maker." Were not ovens constructed from bricks? Perhaps this explains Fraulein Ziegler's attitude toward Gal Gadot and her tweets about the other non-Arab citizens of Israel. If Ziegler is going to play the race/victim game then she needs to play the full 9 innings.
