@A350Airways Agreed. It would be easier to start a new league with teams/owners that are capable of being profitable. A commissioner who has authority over rules, officials, player conduct on and off court, and penalize owners for team/player conduct detrimental to the game. The commissioner pay would be merit-based on gate attendance, viewership, media contracts, merchandise sales, and other profit generated. Profit sharing may by the only way for a league not to self-destruct and have high salaries. The WNBA is a poorly run start-up bent on self-destruction.
@metaphoricaltactics5543Ай бұрын
I have the solution: 1- Mandatory media training for all players, coaches, and "Owners". 2- A clear verbal & visual definition of what a flagrant foul is. 3- ban all jewelry and other accessories(including long nails.) during games. 4-stress sportsmanship & class before, during, and after games. 5- make all the players air any Racial grievances privately with the league & league lawyers so that it can be handled privately which would help the leagues image. These would all go a long way in helping that league progress.

Also ban vague slurs at players' and teams' fans, for which the players have no control. It's a cheap smear.

Absolutely! Caitlin Clark needs to take this list of "suggestions" to the league front office and "suggest" they follow them effective immediately or she leaves and does not return. Ever. You can't FORCE her to play basketball. She may have a contract but I'm sure there are plenty of ways to end that if you're a player. Take away her $77,000 or whatever that little number is? news flash, America didnt give a shit about the WNBA before CC and don't really care about it when she showed up. CC brought her fans to the WNBA, cool, but thats like a blip of the American sports viewing population. It's still a women's pro sport in the USA where most americans just aren't into women's pro team sports. Is it right? No. Is it reality? yes. People have freedom to watch what they want. No one relatively speaking this year was watching the WNBA. Yes, viewership went WAY up, but again, its all relative. Its like meeting a chick who's a 2 then she got a makeover and she's now a 5. 2 to 5 is a a jump thats nothing to sneeze at, but in the land of 9's and 10s (other pro sports), that 5 is still insignifigant, I dont care how many times ESPN showed WNBA highlights this season. The truth is in the money. Even with CC the league is still nowhere near profitiable and that has everything to do with the public STILL not giving a shit enough to watch the way some of you think they were watching or what you want to believe. I think every WNBA player that can make an EU roster should leave and go to EU. Not to teach WNBA a lesson because I'm not one of those crackpots on here wanting to "all of a sudden" burn the WNBA down because how I feel about CC when in truth everything you're seeing been going on in the WNBA since it existed. I think they should all go to EU because it just makes more sense money wise. No one forced them to play in the WNBA. Just like no one forced some dudes to become a garbage man or janitor or some college kid to go 200k in debt to be an art major. These women, CC included had a CHOICE. At some point these women have to be accountable for the choices they made. As long as they have the NBA to fund them, they feel like they can behave however they want with no repercussions. The NBA enables their behavior and prevents them from ever getting near rock bottom. So they continue to behave terribly with no real world reality to keep them in check with the fans. Other sports leagues operate with the understanding that the fans are their bosses and they have to stay in line with fan expectations (or NO paychecks). The WNBA has the NBA to pick up the bill every year so they do not feel they have to answer to the fans at all, they can mouth off and behave badly all they want & nobody can/will/dares to challenge them. I really think they are unfixable and a brand new league with new rules needs to be established, that fixes all the unwatchable nonsense that is the WNBA, and does NOT let the weasels get control of the henhouse.

Wrong set of officials and referees in the WNBA. Change them all and the league will go sky high. Too petty people rule the WNBA and that is a waste of fund$. Change them all and save the WNBA.
@1StesonАй бұрын
OK, but I'm quite sure that they receive very specific instructions on how to call the game. Do you really think this collection of individuals are allowed on their own based on their own judgement to be so anti-Clark? No way. They are being told how to make those calls. If it's just bad officiating, the league would have at least apologized and issued post game penalties or suspensions (Carrington for example), but nope, complete silence. They condone that behavior. This league is a cespool and does not deserve Caitlin Clark, she should sit down with the powers that be and demand things change immediately or she is ending her contract and is done. Caitlin Clark will be a huge success in life if she never touches a basketball again. The WNBA needs her a thousand times more than she needs them.

So they had yet another opportunity to make a league likeable but instead . You had a player rip on a fan base while the other sat there with sunglasses on acting like she was to cool to talk to the press. The League needs a makeover at least till they can get people to actually watch their games.

When you look around the league CC22 mostly got ignored because the activist league "by that I mean Aja" members started the season complaining about white privilege so the fearful league had to start including all rookies in every sentence as well as they had to ignore CC22 to make sure she did not get flowers that a black player did not get. Thats why Angel got the idea in her head that she was more important than she really was. The WNBA queen started the season with a Montra that the white girl was getting too much attention and the rest of the black players got in line and the commissioner did as well. Do you really think the racist victims came out in lock step on the last day CC22 was on the court for the season? It was a League wide send off to the white girl. The sad thing is they went after one of the best WNBA reps that has ever played. CC22 could be the best rep the league has, she never has anything bad to say about her peers and we all know she is aware of the intended messages the black league is sending, you know how smart she is! If the players rallied around her, she would make them all rich, she graduated in marketing. What about the Three Musketeer's slogan! Keep the videos coming your topics are great!

If anything, the NBA should announce that starting in 26 there will be no more handouts to the WNBA. With the players calling for a new collective bargaining agreement for 26 and beyond, all revenue the league earns should be on the table and whatever the split is decided between players/owners, that should be all the money the players get.
