For the sponges, I think durability is the differentiating factor. But you'd have to use them regularly for weeks to test that.

There are two things I dont want durability for - a sponge and a pair of knickers. No matter how well you wash them, the two should be replaced more often than other things. Because of the nature of the job thay have.

For the toast tray, I do not think you are supposed to turn the cheap one upside down and then empty the tray. When you unlatch the tray, the crumbs will fall out. If you turn it upside down to open the tray, the crumbs are just gonna fall out of the top of the toaster so you’re supposed to keep it upright and then open the tray at the bottom and let it fall out.
@wilumward6570
@wilumward6570 8 ай бұрын
I agree. Or at least just tilt it up 45 degrees to open it and brush out the crumbs. I do turn my cheap toaster upside down and shake it over the bin sometimes though, to get all the crumbs that don’t fall through to the tray 😂

One plus of the nutribullet is that you can buy extra blades and cups too. I have 2 blades bc the blade is hard to dry so if 2 people want to make something totally different (eg pancake batter and then a smoothie) you can wash the cup easily enough but not the blade and having a spare blade is handier. Plus if your blade goes blunt or your cup cracks but your motor is still okay you can replace them. You can probably do so with 'magic bullet' and 'ninja' brand ones but not with generics so its also more sustainable.

I use the expensive sponges and they last forever without getting anything stuck in them, even things like cheese. The knife would be noticeable with onions as well. The serrated knife is going to make you cry a lot more since it is crushing/tearing the cells of the onion instead of cutting cleanly through them. Plus you can sharpen a non serrated blade

I still think the Cuisinart toaster is the best deal, even if it is more expensive. Toasters should last about 5 - 10 years. A good quality toaster will hold up that long, while the $10 toaster may break after a year or two. So, in all, the cost of the $70 toaster lasting its full life will break down to only about $7 - $14 a year, depending on if it last 5 or 10 years. Much better investment for only one appliance.

An expensive knife should last your life! Never buy serrated as you can’t resharpen them properly, invest in one you can hold comfortably as it should become part of you , in that using it is a fluid action, which is something you can never maintain with a cheap knife. If you don’t have the budget for a expensive knife buy one from a catering shop, you will get a good knife, not the best but one you can sharpen and use far better than a cheap store one and it will be far more robust and unlike some machine washable.
