I love your videos. Your enthusiasm about the dolls is so awesome. Im learning to paint reborn dolls. I recently purchased my first 19th-century German girl. I absolutely love her. I would not have known what to do with her if you had not made your videos. Thank you so much.

Hi Rachel and Christopher. I was excited to see this charming collection of antique dolls. I was very intrigued by the paper mache dolls. I loved Christopher’s pick and the little girl in the prairie dress is adorable. ❤ I saw a post on Facebook today from a friend that showed a picture of two bins of old dolls. They were labelled “May be haunted” and “probably not haunted”. Commenters were laughing. I decided to share a picture of my beautiful antique dolls and said, “As a doll collector and lover of dolls, I like to imagine who the child was that played with these dolls before they were rescued by me.” This was not in a doll group but I felt compelled to share another perspective of dolls to those who “don’t get it”. It felt good to stand up for the dolls! 🥰

Love the videos that concentrate on antique dolls! The little paper Mâché gent sewn on the card next to the tiny Steiff bear is a Palmer Cox Brownie. I believe this character with a monocle is known as “The Dude.” Wonderful and whimsical!

I made a painted material doll. I got the pattern out of a magazine. Yes the pre- printed doll is lovely! I have a collection of black dolls made out of material. O wow little fingers! The little dresser doll is very interesting. Eggshell doll, I have to say I've never seen or thought about it! Cute overhauls on the pen dolls. Yes you were lucky that the dolls are basically in good condition for their age. Thanks for sharing this amazing collection

I so LOVE the Ethnic Doll with her blonde braids, blue eyes, and blue dress with lace💙💙💙!! I so agree with Christopher that the Kestner Groom Doll is so super cute with his deep brown eyes❤❤❤ and I also LOVE the Kestner Bride Doll, but I prefer the Kestner Boy Groom Doll💯💯💯💯💯!! Such beautiful, amazing dolls! I love all of them! ❤ Christopher talked about the feel of the doll's face. Probably, the grainy feel texture is the quality of clay. The porcelain kaolin clay is smoother. Of course, your husband Rachel, since he is a potter, could probably relate to the bisque clay textures. Such a beautiful groom, and all the dolls are just amazing. I was watching a video about antique dolls recently and love learning. I was wondering about the ones with wooden hands with the curls, I think you said they're papermache? But I thought maybe the head was carved from wood? The Belton one reminds me of Mozart. I read a book quite awhile ago about German Meissan porcelain and how the man who developed the kaolin was an alchemist, and I think it saved his life because the German king wanted him to produce gold. The meissan life size animals made of porcelain are amazing. I was listening how some antique dolls were character dolls that were originally figurines with personality. The bonnet heads may have been made from figurine molds? Anyway, there is a lot of clay history. I am a potter, too, and have made figurative sculptures. Maybe someday I will design a doll. Such beautiful big ones and the one that was from 1901 for Christmas. My dad was born in 1897. He was my age now when I was born. I am 63 now. He was around my mom's parent's age and my step grandparent's age. Amazing how time goes by. Love the mini steiff and miniature dolls.

This was such a cool odyssey. I'm obsessed with the mouse (or rabbit) with a dress, I love mice/rats with floppy ears in dresses and pinafores- probably biased because of my life sized long limbed cloth mouse I dragged around as a child. An artist made large clothed mice on doll stands for Meow Wolf's original gift shop when they first opened that I'm trying to track down, even wrote to them. P.S. I'm so glad you both came close to appreciating crazing, a feature I look for and think is so incredibly pretty in composition dolls.

The blonde doll with the wonderful blue dress and hat reminds me of the French Fashion dolls (bustle included). I recognized the Steiff bear immediately. My Mom had one as a child I believe, and lost it along the way, so before she died, I bought one with a growler I could never get to work. I loved it too. My sister wanted it to go with her to cremation and when she was out of sight I snatched it away!! That Steiff was precious to my Mom and me. I don't think she would have wanted it burned up. She had a wonderful collection that I and my other sisters are blessed to have a part of, as I have previously mentioned. So fun to see this lovely collection now incorporated into your doll home thank you ❤

Just restored a wax doll same as with the bump. She had a wig and a bonnet. Think lump was for the bonnet to help fill it and hold it. Mine was missing alot of her wax off chin and shoulders. Also had to rebuild her shoulder plate. Thanks for the show.

The doll bustle isn't made like the ones for real people. The ones for real ladies were in fact made so that they'd collapse when sat on and then resume their form when the wearer got up. First wax lady is very beautiful. I wonder if the crown on the second one was for shaping a pompadour hairstyle (yup, you guys figured it out. Neat!). I think my favourite doll in the video is the tin headed walker child. I love china heads too. I have since I was a little girl watching Little House on The Prairie. I have a tiny vintage reproduction one that I couldn't let go of. I miss the vintage and antique dolls that I had, but as I am solitary I gave them all away so that they wouldn't be thrown into the dump when I die. The older porcelain dolls are also smoother because they were just made from higher quality slip. Modern artist porcelain BJDs are also very smooth. I'm watching from Northcentral Alberta Canada.

That's a really nice and fun collection. The new owners will truly love those. Glad the husband ensured they went to a fantastic place because we all know you and Christopher will ensure they go to good homes. A friend of mine gifted me some barbies and clothing she got on a FB free trade group. I sobbed happy tears because I never receive gifts and to get a gift and have it be something I adore brought me so much joy. Dolls really do bring me joy. Being bedridden for the past 5 years now gives me something to do besides mourn my life.

That's not a 'scrap doll' It's a folk doll from Madeira, they were made for tourists in the 19th and early 20th centuries, that example is in played with condition though. Google them, they have a very distinct look about them. I love your videos btw💖

Ok so, I absolutely LOVE my dolls, but I can't help feeling that these dolls are the ones that give our hobby the "creepy" vibe 😂... no offence 🙃 My Nan had some old dolls, probably composition thinking about it now, in her back room that apparently belonged to her or my mother and as a child they creeped me out 😂... just not my thing these ones. However, I do get the energy they possess from days gone by and the incredible history in their making ❤
