For the kids who got to see a strange lady with a whimsical dress made of book pages, offering free books from a little library on her back, with little plants and castles on the edges? Then Pride & Prejudice & Zombies came out (I bought it very soon after release way before there was going to be a film & haven't seen the film so can't comment on that) and since it adapted sections of text, I figured "close enough". The zombies livened it up a lot and made the social stuff less dull and unintelligible (which I later thought may be unintelligible only because my ability to understand social stuff at the best of time as an autistic person is heavily hampered).

There are a few of those little free mini “libraries” that are basically just a small cabinet full of books in random locations. There’s a sign on it saying to either return the book or replace it with a new book. I bet that if you did this regularly and in the same areas that people would start saying yes more often. Or they’d start returning books or giving you new books to add to your walking library!

Okay I know I'm replying to my own comment here, but SERIOUSLY I want to do this as library outreach! Like I love the idea, and as a children's librarian I think that the kids would adore this! I think that once things are a little more normal in the world having something like this would be cool to bring to renn faire, farmer's markets, small festivals and other things where I'd like to do some outreach but don't want to bring my WHOLE tent & tables & pamphlets and general rigamarole. Go Rachel go!!! Repping that Evelyn O'Connell librarian spirit!

Perhaps she should ask a local library or school if they wanted to collaborate. I think people were a bit sceptical because they thought she might be part of some cult or weird company. But, with the right setting this could be a nice concept! I also believe that the area she chose was not the best. People just passed through and were not ready to interact with strangers. People are usually more willing to interact in pedestrian streets (is that the right term? I just google translated it :I ) or parks. However, from a plague perspective I totally understand if she did not want to go there.

I used to love them, sometimes spending all day reading, before going home from a Nose-From-Book Extraction in the ER 😂 I think a large reason why I stopped is because of a problem with my eyes, which can make it extremely difficult to see for more than a quarter second at a time... but in recent months, they have slowly gotten better, so I may try reading again... you know what? I think I just might! I hope you have a wonderful day, whoever is reading this! ❤
