I am a millennial who parents a Gen Zer(I'm 35, she's 17.) They give 0 Fs how YOU wear YOUR hair. They just like middle-parted hair on themselves. A middle-part actually looks gorgeous on my baby girl! It's not a "cool" vs "uncool" either, more about practicality, especially in re: pandemic. They wear baggy jeans for comfort (though dead-ass skinnies ARE comfortable.) Tea for free from my 17 yr old: wear your hair however it flatters your face shape (or go for unflattering if that's your thing) as her hair is long, blond, and middle-parted, and my own is side-shaved, side-parted, and purple-to-pink-ombre that her friends all think it's cool. Also I like baggy jeans (and long skirts) and she likes skinny jeans. It’s fun to compare but it is silly that people (ie buzzfeed I guess) act like there are actual rules in fashion and style now that everyone is mostly wearing whatever they want (or at least I think they are? maybe I’m just focused more on media where that’s a thing??) anyway this is a long comment now but basically everyone is cool

I think a lot of people out there don't understand boundaries with their favourite hosts/actors/personalities etc. You are of course very sweet but you are not a friend we know irl, and while it can be obvious to the public figure it isn't always for a fan. I think it's so nice that you allow messages on your instagram, but even if you didn't, it wouldn't make you not a people person, just a person with set boundaries of personal and work interactions.

Trying to say this in a way that doesn’t make me sound like a dick or really patronising, but about not being able to relax and always needing to do something (for anyone reading this, not just Rachel) - I get it, I really, really do, but I used to be like that all the time and I basically burned myself out and am now an involuntary coach potato with pretty severe ME/CFS and it suuuuuuucks. I’m not saying everyone who pushes themselves will end up housebound like me, obvs, but after 8 years of this absolute BS I feel a pressing need to tell everyone who gets stressed to take time for themselves and give themselves permission to veg. Because your health really IS the most important thing. Kthnxbye

Yeah I second this. I don’t have any chronic illnesses that I know of, but I basically destroyed my mental health and lost, like, three years to a series of horrible mental illnesses episodes during which I just physically couldn’t get out of bed most days. I pushed myself constantly too and now have an auto immune disease where I HAVE to rest frequently and can't go go go anymore. @brooke92973 жыл бұрын
History story from someone born in the 80s: it was an unusual thing to be the 13yearold on the bus with a walkman and whatnot.. The technology was a pain in the butt and constantly malfunctioned, and you had to hold it perfectly upright (heaven help us if the bus hit a pothole) - and it was a pretty unusual and anti-social move at the time to put on headphones around other people. We were basically putting up a flag that said "I'm an alienated weirdo/punk/wallflower" (other option being carrying a boombox, which said "I'm extroverted to my core. I AM the party, and the party is EVERYWHERE!" hehe.) Now, you're a creep-o goon if you look up and around on the bus and try to talk to ppl. That's some suspicious behavior. (Now that's not to say you that this same 13 year old wouldn't be listening to her iPhone now - just that it was pretty different back in ye olde yestertimes, at least where I lived.)
@Stettafire3 жыл бұрын
@@brooke9297 90s here. Similar experience. Wearing headphones would get you some strange looks (mostly from older folk), and they were pretty garbage so you'd need the music on quiet for other folk not to hear you. Earbuds were the fashion, but they always fell out and got stood on and the wires were all stupidly long and they'd get tangled in stuff. (I still hate them). Over head ones were better, but if you wore them everybody, young and old alike would give you odd looks. Nowadays no one cares. Most people didn't have smartphones or phones. People had MP3 players that could house probably ten songs. Granted, still plenty of folk who didn't have headphones at all and you'd hear complaints from people about "that guy" on the bus who had his music on full. No one had internet, so they weren't watching youtube or anything. I remember a verison of the mps player that didn't have a headphone jack and people ridiculed it at the time becayuse bluetooth devices back then were expensive and they were shite. I remember when bluetooth became a thing, at first it was awful, really unreliable, would constantly disconnect or refuse to connect at all. Plus, at first it felt kind of gimicky, and kind of useless. Who when the first bluetooth headphones came out they were expensive garbage.

As someone who's smack dab in the middle of the two generations (zillennial I think is the term), I literally don't care what others wear or how they style their hair as long as they're comfortable and it makes them happy. I'm a millennial in a lot of the experiences and things I've lived through but my humour is very gen Z. However, I'm noticing that I'm starting to lose my grip on what are the current meme trends and it's making me feel old, but also at the same time I'm like, "look at them youngin's go with them memes and things, how wonderful!" idk I just love the people who are younger than me and I'm really excited to see what they accomplish.

I'm a zillennial too (born in 96)!! and I definitely feel the same way - I truly just want ppl to be comfortable and happy. and I think I've been able to keep up with the current memes and trends bc I'm on TikTok lmaooo it keeps me ✨young✨

As a ‘98 myself, I recently had this, especially with games/gaming humour and vintage aesthetics. Getting into vintage again has honestly just made it so much more apparent, especially when I come across those younger than me who either assume I am an “old ass millennial” (actual thing said to me) that are the typical childhood know-it-all or have legit more knowledge and in-hand experience. I would never have thought I would be intimidated by a child's knowledge of vintage & antiques, but here I am. Though I will admit, as much as I dislike kids, I love watching them discover new shit, make more crusty-busted ass memes, and the openness & dark humour that's come with mental health talks.

@@lainie193 Late Gen X here. I've always hated skinny jeans, too. I'm so glad there are finally other options that aren't obscenely expensive. I think a lot of people don't care until they're told they ought to.

tbh I'm just a gen z kid who still doesn't understand the thing about side parts and skinny jeans, I mean... is it really a big deal? I'm just an oblivious emo/alt teen who thrives off of miniskirts, skinny ripped jeans, band shirts, and brightly coloured hair with deep side parts, is it supposed to be bad?
@FunSizeSpamberguesa3 жыл бұрын
@@worstusernameintheworld9871 I think people should wear what they want, and ignore anyone who doesn't like it. The idea that there are somehow fashion "rules" for different ages got left behind in the 1950s, and it needs to stay there. This is 2021, ffs. We ought to be more evolved than that, and I think most people are -- it's just stupid "articles" that tell us we shouldn't be.

Your dealing with a tremendous loss right now AND a freaking Global pandemic !!! . Give yourself time & permission to just grieve. Maybe do some Journaling?! Try "talking" to your mom, some folks believe our loved ones hang around us & can hear us from "beyond". I wish you well. You're going to be amazing. (I honestly haven't been to a proper Halloween party for years, mainly for that reason) The Beatrix Potter ballet is a weird throwback. I remember watching it at some point as a kid.
