In my opinion, I like the square ones better. The square ones have a more “finished look”. They are harder to place, but I think it’s worth it.

I've never tried the square ones before but I'm planning to get them soon. So far from videos, I still prefer circle ones because they're easier to place and adjust. The square ones also tend to give a more pixelated look whilst the circle ones give off a softer look.

Rachel, I'm learning a lot from you. I just started DP a few days ago. I'm enjoying making the stones and blue butterfly, a full round picture. I have a question. I've been seeing 5D in some stuff. Does that just mean regular DP or is it a differing distinction? Sounds scary. Ann
@RachelRaeCraft4 жыл бұрын
5D is just a marketing term to differentiate between square (3D) and round (5D) drills :) Have fun DPing!
@sarahbrodie88294 жыл бұрын
You can get 3d and 5d dp in both square or round. The difference between 3d and 5d is that the 3d drills, whether you're using round or square have less facets on them compared to a round or square 5d which have more.

I mix my old and new drills together. If some are lighter or brighter, it adds to the blending effect. If it is vital that the colors be consistent, then I would not mix, but only use the drills for that kit. I find that drills are more like paint colors in their flexibility, than DMC floss and that the number is a guideline, rather than the actual floss color.

They are tiny! LOL I am excited to see them finished. Right now the square looks a lot more defined to me. I might have made an impulse purchase earlier today. Remember that colorful koi I got from Sophie Beauty to retest the rounds? I ordered it in the same size in square earlier to do another comparison test while I am at it. That one was more detailed than the peony. I think I'll have another look at the peony diamonds. I think there were some major differences in the dye lots as well.

Ok first I’m not trying to say I know everything but I’m a costumer and if I buy a painting the color should not be different if it’s a round or squares. The only thing that should be different is the fact one is square or the other round. Second I hope with you doing this there is yet more proof to show there diamonds are not what they should be. I have just started doing diamond paintings in January. I have completed 3. All were round. And every one has only used “symbols” of numbers and letters - which I am glad about. Looking at a bunch of videos, I see most canvases use “symbols” of shapes and things which look quite difficult. Why do they do that? Why can’t they just use 0-9 and A-Z? Much easier to read. Also, the kits I get never have the “code” written on them like all the videos I see. (I’ve ordered all my paintings from Amazon if that matters.)
@RachelRaeCraft Жыл бұрын
Hi there! So my theory is that there are many letters and numbers that look alike (think 0 and O, 8 and B, 4 and A) so companies that have gotten feedback on symbols have been making changes over time to help make the drill field easier to read. Something that I started doing was looking for the symbol that appears most in the section I'm working on and starting with it, and moving to the least appearing symbol. This way I'm not hunting and wasting time looking for a symbol, but everyone is different. One of my best friends goes down the list of DMC working from top to bottom, but my brain doesn't like to work that way. Whatever works best for you is the best thing! :) I believe I talked about this in my sneak peek from last friday if you'd like to have a look.
@braeven88275 жыл бұрын
I think I would call it 'The Beauty in Color'. I'm a little odd in that I don't mind the smaller canvases. It hearkens back to the good old pixelated video game days (I'm not Pong old, but I had a Sega when I was a toddler, lol!) And perlor beads too... They look much better when viewed from a slight distance. The canvases do look different. I would kinda want the canvases to be the same if it was the same painting. Another thing is the symbols are different. Could it have been got from 2 different printers or do you think the program just changed it them out?
@RachelRaeCraft5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure! I would think it would be the same but I'm guessing it must be two different programs 🤔 or maybe some symbols are too difficult to put into a circle?
@braeven88275 жыл бұрын
That I did not think of. Might he easier to hide certain symbols when using rounds versus others. 🤨
@pinkystickers36805 жыл бұрын
Yay! I love these kinds of experiments :) Just a little idea, instead of saying this one and that one, you could say the square and the round :) People who DP at the same time won't know what you're talking about, I had to rewind a few times :P
