Hi from France. Ok so here, these type of soupmakers are (I would say) quite popular for a single person/couple use. They are really practical in the way you only need to roughly shop your veggies and throw them in to make a very nice soup (so no need for that chopper machine). I personally add "broth cubes" to enhance those flavours. It's a quick and easy device that allows you to eat healthy soups homemade when you have a busy schedule and you only need 1-3 max servings. Sorry I don't usually comment but I love that device so much in the winter months that I wanted to explain a bit more it's popularity haha. It's always fun to see the differences between European vs. North American differences in habits (example : i feel like would never buy a milkshake or ice cream device for example, but a yogourt machine yes). Always love your videos !

I'm German and all I could think was that that soupmaker is like a Thermomix light version!
@kierancampire5 ай бұрын
I think another thing is, firstly family size, as you said a soup maker like that is good for 1-2 people maybe, whereas in a bigger family a slow cooker or in a pot gives a bigger portion. But also, not saying this in a derogatory way FYI, but I have noticed Americans and Canadians like big portions of things. Like I remember watching one video of a lady trying to make a huge kettle of tea, because she didn't want to make individual cups of tea as and when needed, and I have noticed that generally, that Canadians/Americans can prefer to batch make things instead of making individual portions. So culturewise a thing that only makes 1-2 portions of soup probably doesn't feel like enough?
@hermiona11475 ай бұрын
@@kierancampireWell because it's obviously made for only 1-3 people. It's like complaining that a mini waffle maker is too small for a family.
@kierancampire5 ай бұрын
@@hermiona1147 I said that myself? I don't know why you're explaining that to me like I am stupid/said otherwise? I explained that the reason they maybe didn't like it as much as because it didn't fit their needs as they want something larger? I never complained about anything? I was just explaining they want more portions most likely?
@ItsJustLisa5 ай бұрын
I see what you’re saying. And @kierancampire is right, we Americans do tend to batch things and then freeze them for later. And a soup like that chicken noodle soup that Rachel made would be the meal, perhaps with some good, crusty bread, not just a starter. My version tends to be heartier. A big favorite for my family is ham and navy bean soup. That’s one I simmer on the stove for 2-3 hours and it’s even better the next day. I make it a lot in the winter since my state is just about center of the US/Canadian border on Lake Superior. It’s hearty and warms you on a really cold day. I just have to remind them that I get to have some too.
@robbierose85725 ай бұрын

My grandfather had one of these and just used chocolate ice cream and milk. It is the best tasting milkshake! I have tried making milkshakes in other blinders and nothing comes close. A better option for the food processor would be one of the immersion blenders with different attachments! Mine has a chopper attachment, whisk, and the immersion blender attachment and it definitely saves space having essentially 3 appliances in one. I don’t use the chopper extremely often but I like to use it for chopping veggies for something like meatloaf where you don’t want huge chunks in it. For the curtain robot I used the Switchbot I found it easier to use than the one you have, it's also a little more expensive, but also the robot works by actually scooting on your rod not by pulling the rope. I personally am not sure what the beads are for, but you have to put the robot inside the first panel of the curtain, because it's going to drag the rest of the curtain behind it, so you have to get one curtain per panel. I like the switchbot because it works with Google and Alexa and I can program a time to open and close.

There's a multicooker in Europe (mostly German-speaking countries and their neighbours) that's called Thermomix that is like all of that, just bigger. It cooks, blends, sautés, steams, weighs, the only thing that thing doesn't do is pressure cook I think. That soup maker seems like a light version of that. The Thermomix is especially used by families, it tells you what to add when, and once it's done with the adding and chopping parts it is really a set it and forget it thing. And I think that is pretty much the selling point, it's one pot (with things like steamer attachment) and you can go do other things while it cooks for you, so it saves time cooking and cleaning.

My husband and I got items for our home from both Target and Macy's. We got: towels, sheets, pillows, table runners mostly from Target, then from Macy's we got Kate Spade dish set (which we never use) and candle holders (also Kate Spade) and we picked some other glassware (that I don't think we actually got) but it was fun to pick stuff. Macy's gave us a hand-held device that we just went around and clicked the bar codes into that turned into a list...it was so fun! This year will be our 20th anniversary! p.s. that curtain thing would drive me nuts, it was so loud!

I highly recommend adding some Wilton Armetale serving dishes to the registry. They have them at Macys but other places too. They can be heated or chilled and they look beautiful. We use them any time we are serving food to guests or bringing food to a nice party, but we also use them even for charcuterie night for us and our kiddos. Now that I think of it I need to get more as gifts for my husband because he loves them! Also, add more silverware than you think you need because it will go missing.

I've had the ninja chopper for YEARS it still works like it did in day one tbh. It does chop everything small though so i now only use it to chop up my garlic, cause i prefer bigger pieces for cooking. Super easy for chopping and cleaning though.

Our household uses the Ninja chopper for garlic or garlic and ginger together. Remove the skins (separate the cloves, cut the root end off each clove, smash the clove with the side of the knife, remove the skin and drop in the Ninja). Be sure to follow the instructions to only tap to pulse.

The Ninja Express Chop is really a small food processor; it's just small enough to efficiently chop small amounts of stuff. I love my food processor, but I don't use it to chop vegetables because then I have to wash the bowl blade, and top as well as the knife and cutting board. If you don't care about making dishes to wash that's not an issue, but if you do the Ninja chopper presents the same problem. Thanks for the recommendation on the sunrise light. I've been wondering whether they do what they say they do, and you answered that question for me, and recommend a brand that works especially well.
