My wife and me have always loved this piece of sublime music. Rachmaninov didn’t have a bad note in his being. All his music deserves a listen. This outstandingly beautiful piece is so loved. My wife, sadly, recently passed away at 87 years. This incredible 2nd movement is now seldom far from my ears, to remember her and the memories of our long life together - and I don’t mind owning up to the tears. This beautiful lady’s interpretation and execution of this music, must rank among the most remarkable attempted, to also include the orchestra’s counter melodies. I find this so enormously rewarding to listen to and cannot thank you enough, or admire you more for affording me, personally, this absolutely amazing experience.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of your beautiful wife. I resonate with every word you express, I'm currently learning this piece; I don't class myself as talented as this lady, I will though however give it my best shot as that's the least this memorable piece deserves. Merry Christmas to you ❤️

@@thepawvoydoghotel9740 Thank you for your kind words. I wish you well, for your own attempt at this daunting piece. I fear it’s not something I can personally achieve as I am untrained, though I do enjoy hours at my own piano, doing what I can do. Thank you again and please enjoy a Happy Christmas and a peaceful 2024.

It’s the only movement that really has a special place in my heart. Really takes me back. Also, I’m struggling to find works on the side of the large scale works I’m preparing that I actually care enough about to play but this very well could be one of the few exceptions.

I rarely comment on youtube videos but man...this video truly deserves 1mil views at least. That was the most beautiful arrangement of the 2nd movement I have ever heard. The melody, the lush orchestra...nothing is compromised in this arrangement. I absolutely adore this concerto and you have made it possible for many amateur pianists out there (myself included) to finally learn and play this piece. And you just put up the sheet music to the public for free! Thank you from the bottom of my heart good sir/madam. Now if only you could record this on a grand Steinway...mind blown!

She plays the solo piano version of all the movements of the Concerto n.2. Very difficult composition both from an interpretative and a technical point of view, even with the presence of the orchestra. The version without orchestra is much more difficult. Beautiful execution, sincere congratulations.

This is my favorite movement of my favorite concerto of my favorite composer and my favorite rendition. I especially like that the pace is just right. I can linger with the most beautiful cord progressions written. This is truly beautiful. I will learn this over this next fall and winter. Finally, there is a real piano arrangement written for the unaccompanied piano without gaping "holes" for instruments that aren't there. I don't know how you did it but you did.

The last 14 bars bring the Adagio sostenuto to a reflective and poignant close. The melody is introspective, gentle, and tender, building on the movement's lyrical and expressive core. It feels like a peaceful resolution, where the piano sings a simple but deeply moving phrase that gradually fades into the background, almost like a lullaby. This moment is often characterized by a sense of longing and nostalgia, but with a touch of tranquility as it draws to a close.
