Everything this orchestra does turns to gold. Perfect ensemble, perfect feeling, and most importantly they seem to love what they're doing. Dima Slobodeniouk is a great conductor, always attentive, always taking and giving. Rachmaninov had a lyric gift second to none.

This orchestra goes from strength to strength! Mozart? They can do it. Bruckner (I've watched their 4th with Skrowaczewski dozens of times and have linked it on to many others). And now a fine performance of the Rachmaninov 2nd Symphony. This is a world-class orchestra. Hats off, as well, to the audio-visual technicians! These are great concert videos. Thanks so much for sharing them with the rest of the world.

After having lost my desire to travel internationally after Sept. 11, 2001, I have found a new reason to go. I have a new dream, to hear in person this orchestra with this conductor. The music they create is sublime. Thank you for awakening my soul again. This piece of music is one of my very favorite works, and your presentation of it has touched my heart. Thank you.

I love when during the Adagio the musicians express so well the always present sadness of Rachmaninov in their faces and postures, especially during the clarinet playing. I happen to be Chilean and so these faces seem to me very well known as I carry quite a bit of Spanish blood. These guys make me feel proud of my ancestry. I find particularly cute the female cellist who sits at the end of the cello section and who wears a dress with some sort of horizontal lines. Equally the violinist lady who sits at the end of the section, alone. These guys are just terrific!

Another heart-felt, top line performance from this, at least in the UK, unheard-of orchestra. I have listened to many of their KZbin performances with ever increasing admiration for their sound, commitment and general polish...they match up to the best anywhere. I cannot understand why on many performances, there are too many empty seats in the auditorium - the local population should be far more supportive of what by any standards is a very fine orchestra. Many thanks for continuing the excellent sound productions, and long may we all enjoy these postings.

This is a wonderful orchestra as everyone has already said. The fourth movement of this work is very difficult and it comes after so much other stuff so it catches you a little tired but one plays it without any fatigue because it is the great Rachmaninoff.

I was so hoping for a video of this performance! Rachmaninov Symphony 2 is one of my absolute favorites, and my favorite recording is by the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, conducted by Ashkenazy, but this performance is right up there with it! I wish I could have been there to hear it. Conducted perfectly! Beautiful clarinet solo! There is so much talent in this orchestra. Thank you very much for posting.

The Ashkenazy with RCO is also my favorite recording of Rach 2, but this is quite excellent. If you haven't checked out their other videos, you will be amazed. A relatively unknown and underrated orchestra.

@@craigkowald3055 Oh yes, I'm a very big fan! I've been following OSG for about three years now. When I subscribed to their channel, they had about 8k subscribers. As of now, it's up to almost 40k, and I'm so pleased to see that more people are discovering this fantastic and talented orchestra. They're so deserving.

Love the passion of the cellos @59:58 (especially the two on the left, the red-haired woman and man with glasses) -- see also 47:30, . I wish the violins at say 59:50 had the body language to go with such a climatic phrase...that phrase really needs all you can give. Maybe even a more dramatic and sharp crecendo-decrecendo (which body-language might help convey). I can also hear the flutes at 49:55 and 47:27 very well...perhaps it is the beautiful wooden black flute the flautist is playing, or the miking.

@Ramon30964 жыл бұрын
