This RACI model sounds like something most people would do without thinking about it. David Brent is more in need of the DBAB (Don't Be A Berk) model.

I think this is a very interesting lesson in management 2 very different approaches David's approach I want my team to like me but lacking in the ability to be a professional in management and Neil who is not concerned about being liked but wants to do his job I agree with Neil that if your in management you have huge responsibilities and the ship does need to be steered in the right direction with your team to be a successful in any management you have to be consistently organised have good people skills and be very emotionally intelligent to bring the best out of your staff

Neil clearly cared about being liked (he was just more skillful in achieving this), and David must have been fairly competent at times at least - after all, he did become a manager SOMEHOW
@cartoonhead3180
@cartoonhead3180 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely. It's interesting how Neil wasn't so preoccupied with being popular, but ended up being so popular by a) being a good manager in the traditional sense (micromanaging staff, ensuring company profits and employees have job security, etc), and b) just being himself and not trying too hard to be liked. I think part of the tragedy of the whole show is that David isn't really a bad guy, he just never really understood the above.

David Brent smashes it all the time! He’s so laid back, it’s surprising he isn’t horizontal. He just does not have time for anything, but styles it out - “He fears my methods, because he doesn’t understand my methods”. The man has an answer for EVERYTHING! 🔫 Neil: You’ve got to have some sort of system! Brent: It’s all up there”! 👆🏻 Neil: They’re having a laugh. Brent: Thanks very much. Brent is always on top of it. No hesitation! 👉🏻😂
