Pretty funny how people took this Goy thing and ran with it based on nothing. The word goy means nation, not anything close to farm animal idk where he got that from. It’s used in the Bible literally to refer to the Jewish people so even if nowadays it’s usually used to refer to non-Jews it was never a slur in any way.
@thehaus69982 ай бұрын
well, one clearly has a meaning that isn't nessecerly as racist, or meant as such the other is racist, and was born from such Goy is a description of Non Jews, however much you may say what else it means, it's the cheif and essentialy the only meaning of goy, a non jewish person, you can use it as a curse or not, it all depends on how you say it and why, like calling someone and infidal or a Heathen, essentialy the exact same the K word was clearly, as stated, born out of racism towards the Jewish immigrants, so yea, it is a big issue, even though I've never heard it called to anyone in my life

@@thekittenator8439 keep on lying like you people love to do
@brodybentley65962 ай бұрын
The history of goy is actually fairly similar to other slurs. Starting out as a self referring term to Isrealites in the hebrew bible. It wasn't used to refer to other nations until the Hellinistic period by jewish authors. Later in the twelfth century, it was used to define those who worshipped idolatry. More lately, as in the 12th century to present times, it has grown to be derogatory, especially in Yiddish expressions that express goys as idiots or emotionless. Examples like Goyisher kop גױישער קאָפּ - "Gentile head," someone who doesn't think ahead, an idiot. Goyishe naches גױישע נחת - Pleasures or pursuits only a gentile would enjoy Dos ken nor a goy דאָס קען נאָר אַ גױ - Something only a goy would do or is capable of doing It's like ape being used at people It's not super racist on its own, but add sand or welfare, and it's 100% a slur

I would like to learn about your experience, because as somebody who is also from china, although not first gen, I have visited china multiple times, I have friends from Hong Kong, Beijing, and Chongqing, and Weifang, and none of them have ever really had this experience. I am personally from Xi’an, and I go back to visit family and basically learn about my culture. It also helps my Chinese sort of, and I always have a good time. Very curious as to why anybody call somebody a banana, would love to hear a response.
@milk__teee7 ай бұрын
@@humbleopionist4366this seems like a very uncommon experience, I’m also Chinese, and I don’t think my cousins or uncles have ever mentioned the government. Like not once, so unless his cousins work for the ccp, or he’s constantly bringing up the political state of China, most people don’t bring it up. Literally I’ve got so many cousins, aunts, uncles, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard them talk about the government, or try to “force” the communist mindset on me or my siblings. Since guess what? We talk about things that aren’t based around politics, because you can do that. Idk man, whenever I see Chinese people act like anti Chinese white people I just find it funny. There’s a huge chance this guy is the one always bringing up China and is getting “insulted” when his family calls him a banana. Or gweilo sarcastically, which is what my grandpa does to my siblings and I since we definitely don’t act like Chinese kids from China. But the way he phrased was just strange.
@leileijoker84657 ай бұрын
@humbleopionist4366 were you not born in China or have not lived in China? Sounds like you only visited as a tourist. If you were born and raised outside of China, people basically treat you as a foreigner. The standards are different, especially if you're not even fluent in Chinese. I personally lived in China until I was 15. Because of my background, some of my more nationalistic relatives expected me to be still patriotic or something. When I pushed back on their ideas, they clearly weren't happy about it and called me a banana lol.

The segment from (00:47) to (01:11) effectively underscores the profound historical and social impact of the n-word, illustrating its origin and evolution from the Latin term for "black" to its offensive status today. The cautionary tone and supporting details highlight its severe consequences, reinforcing the importance of understanding language's power and the deep-rooted implications of racial slurs.
@cameronbethea1237 ай бұрын
I tried a few of these at work, and I didn't get fired, although I almost got into a fight with a black guy after randomly calling him the n word, but he calmed down when I told him that im 23% black, I showed my ancestry DNA report and a photo of my grandparents as proof, and now we're actually good friends. I'm not racist toward any group at all btw, and Im tri racial myself. I just have this weird compulsion to try and get under people's skin, and racial slurs are a great way to do this, thanks for the great and educational video !
@cerebrummaximus37627 ай бұрын
Dw, I'm with you. Slurs are a ridiculous concept and an artificial social construct. Racism is when you bare hate or prejudice to a certain racial group. I share no negative feelings to any racial group whatsoever, and I am aware that there are good people and bad people every racial group. I am by definition not a racist. In addition, I highly respect other races, have done great research on African nations more than many SJWs, and my most respected historical figures are black. Yet I got called a racist for getting into a debate about how the n-word is overglorified and got called a slur defender. Ironically those people who called me racist are the same people who'd casually be rude to other cultures without thought and bare very little actual knowledge on anything beside their own. My point was the n-word is overglorified. It's ridiculous to place so much offence into a single word. Especially when that word not only just means black, but similar etymologically related words are still used to this day across the world. It is context that should matter. That being said, I've seen people get offended and attack people for saying the country name "Montenegro" and Koreans saying their word for "you" - if that isn't hypocrisy at it's finest, I don't know what is.
