Steve was very generous in his editing. He didn't show the 5 other attempts to hover the race fpv. After the filming, I did try M mode in LOS hover. I now have aboutv3 mins in M mode...no crashes.... but thank goodness for the Pause button on the dji fpv.!!!!
@FineBakedPastry3 жыл бұрын
The dji fpv is heavier due to camera gimbal, multiple optical flow sensors/cameras, lots of blinking lights, and lots of electronics. That doesn't make it any less real than an fpv drone where the battery is velcro'd on.

For anyone thinking of building a true FPV drone but only have experience with DJI stuff. You can build a true FPV drone with GPS and Barometer to give you stable flight like DJI and within the flight controllers software you can limit the angle of the drone along with throttle limit. You set these flight modes to a switch on your controller so you can activate GPS stable flight, Angle limited (Slow mode) and true unhinged free flight. GPS mode won't let you flip the drone nor will angle mode but will allow you to use your FPV drone just like a DJI drone to take great cinematography and epic pictures. Depending on where you live a true FPV drone won't be class marked and will be classed as a "Legacy drone" (UK) which limits where you can fly the drone. For example: In the UK a DIY drone will be limited to 2kg Maybe 4kg max take off weight and you can fly in A3 catagory which is 150m from buildings and 50m from people not within a residential, industrial or recreational area. This also covers non marked drones like the FPV drone right now. Once DJI class mark their drones then under 250g and max speed of 19m/s can be flown anywhere from 5m from people and 50m from buildings etc... Anything similar classed as a "toy" will be licence free so long as it dosn't have a camera. If it does have a camera then the normal licence applies just like any other drone operator. I know Captain Drone is Canadian but some viewers might be from the UK like myself so i hope this comment helps a little to those thinking of getting a drone. Maybe Captain Drone could do a rules and regulations video for a bunch of countries then show off the types of drones each classification they would fall under along with suspected class mark for future DJI drones.

Yes, it's dialled back, but WOW if this doesn't impress you, you're part of the niece of fpv pilots who are able to think like a fighter pilot. Make sure you go into the settings and make changes to suit your capabilities/abilities. Stock settings are terrible.

I'm not the person to ask because I'm a pro (longtime drone flyer). DJI FPV is fun for me as it is a hybrid drone that I can fly like a camera drone or FPV drone (beginners should not attempt to fly this drone as an FPV drone as you will crash and destroy it). The LITE+ is a photography drone. So you have to decide on your needs.

@CAPTAINDRONE798 Жыл бұрын
You sound like you are new to the FPV Drone hobby. The DJI FPV Drone is called a HYBRID Drone, which is why you won't hear reviewers refer to it as an FPV Drone (an FPV drone does not have a GPS controlled begginer or GPS controlled Sport mode with joysticks centered). When the DJI FPV Drone is in Manual mode, the GPS is still active as well as many of the flight features to help out beginners. A real FPV Drone is very barebones with none of this assistance.
@jcphotographystudio Жыл бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I understand that, but just because it has GPS, it doesn't mean its not a FPV. The GPS is not active while your in manual mode, it's only there for when you switch to sports or normal mode. It's a brilliant way of getting drone pilots in to FPV. Is an HYBRID pickup still a pickup or is it not a real pick up?

I saw about 28 m/s max in my "turtle" flights but that was mid flight. You can see a couple things: Steve always flew from a flying start whereas I was hovering.... so my accel was much slower. And I have a newbie tendency to let off the fwd stick in a turn as my fixed wing training has be wanting to pitch around to toghten the turn. That has me slowing and making the turn uncoordinated and I slew sideways with little fwd speed. Am breaking that habit now...

So your new to FPV to ask such a question, so I’ll keep it short and simple. Real FPV drones have no onboard assistance, such as Altitude Hold, GPS hold, ocusync, moveable camera gimbal, bottom height sensor, beginner flight modes, and most importantly, real FPV drones are not massively heavy nor do they break as easily on impact as they are designed to be crashed. Finally FPV drones are not restricted to one brand of remote, battery and goggles.

You could always start with one of the FPV "all in one" kits from EMAX, BETAFPV or GEPRC.

Most of the FPV pilots I know learned to fly FPV without ever flying LOS. LOS is great fun, but it's really a whole different skill to learn. If Nelson really wants to learn FPV, he needs something like a 3s 3" fpv drone, but start with a 2s battery. He should learn to just cruise around down low, in a wide open area, in angle mode, When he can do that he should force himself to fly acro mode as soon as possible before angle mode teaches him too many bad habits. He will crash it a bunch, but 95% of the time he wont hurt the drone at all. The DJI FPV drone is great for chase footage as demonstrated here, but in my opinion, it is NOT a good drone for learning FPV. In full manual mode it's simply too fast and too heavy and too fragile. A beginner will be forced to rip around fast and high, which is not an ideal way to learn.
