That's the best kind of racing ! Scary part now is more a track marshal than racer now ! Poor me worked and raced at Mosport ! Wish I knew at 15 what I found out at 35 ! Just turned 55 and still love it ! Injury put a end to the regular fun so only do a few events now ☹️ 3 podiums in 5 races last year better than none ! Starting this year off flagging a 6 hour Enduro !!

Fu*king great Eugene here there goes a podium spot 🤬 He was right 😁 Had my moment of greatness !! Mechanical DNF's cures that happiness . Or flying a kart ! Was not bad until gravity took over 🤣😂. . With Canadian winter our race season is short . Had a really good indoor place . Staff and local racers thought I would do good outside . 19 years later still at it but not as much as I want to ☹️ Eventually started being a track marshal also ! My 3rd year working at Mosport kart track someone from main track offered me a position there ! A huge honor to be asked ! Heart in karting so declined . Plus would have missed out on 2nd championship ! Starting this year off working a 6 hour Enduro then seat time in June or can luck into a rain race before then !!!

I kind of went on a rant int he comments, then my phones battery died, but felt bad about losing everything I wrote so I retyped all of what I had written. Here is my best attempt at explaining this complex topic: I love driving and teaching so I just randomly decided to drop a couple of tips and tricks for you: 1) I noticed your steering is quite rough. Generally, the goal is to keep steering smooth without applying to much force. There are different ways to do this, of which I am going to list three: Try to apply a less force on the steering. Don’t hold it so tight, kind of leave your hands a bit loose. Try to stay away from sudden movements. The third and most important way is its own category: 2) Looking ahead. Looking ahead is very important, as it helps keep steering smooth, be able to predict the kart instead of react, and giving you more time to react to any crashes or anything. The general rule is to look at the apex when in corner entry and before, look at the exit when you are about to hit the apex, and look at the next corner entry/apex when in corner exit. This really helped me with my driving but it takes some getting used to. 3) The brake is not only there to make you stop, as in racing its a great way to stop. After trail braking, leaving some break pressure will encourage slight oversteer in the kart which helps with rotation and getting around the corner. There are hundreds of youtube videos on this, especially in sim racing, so ill give a bit of a guide on what to work on. First, you want to master trail braking. During that process, you will begin to learn about rotating the car with the brake pedal. After getting good at trail braking, its a good idea to dive deeper into how the pedals impact rotation. Learning what does what is a great transition into turning with your pedals. After you feel confident when turning with your pedals, aim for neutral steering(no steering input with the wheel). This is done by initiating the turn with some steering input from the wheel, and carrying the rest with the pedals. Sorry if its confusing, its a lot to explain. If theres anything you need explained you can ask me or you can go on youtube! The youtube sim racing community has many guides that also apply to karting. Hope this helps!

14:48 This track is quite interesting to say, the least when it comes to overtaking. As, a used to be local at the track, as I'm now moving to outdoor karting. The best overtaking spots are. The upstairs chicane, if you have enough speed you can send down on the inside of somebody. Though, just make sure your front tyre is already aligned with the driver you trying to overtake, rear tyre. Or, there will be a guaranteed crash, as you'll end up T-boning them. Though, it is the easiest overtaking soot on the track, the window open for the overtake is about 1-2 seconds, so I would NOT go for the overtake if you hesitate, just do it the next lap when your more confident. Second overtakeing spot is quite rare, and its not a move you can pull if you don't have the third hairpin down, almost to perfection. Its an overtake on the inside on the up-ramp. Relatively, easy though its hard. Just need a better exit than the person infront of you coming out of the third hairpin. Tip: Also, a quick tip for the, third hairpin, on the exit, let the kart straighten its self out on the exit, or you'll find you self bumping quite a lot, especially after the Junior group races, the third hairpin, is not as forgiving as the track is more gripper so the more you bounce the less speed you'll have coming out the corner, so try stay relatively far out to the right side on exit to avoid that. Third overtaking point is the most difficult overtaking point. Coming out of the chicane onto the down-ramp coming into the double-let apex corner, you need to keep it tight, and smooth. So you're kart is literall touching the back bumper of the kart infront of you, though make sure not to tap there kart, just enough so its rubbing, then you'll find yourself flying all the way to the first hairpin, and you will be able to pull on the inside, with 60-40 ofcourse, as I mentioned in the first overtaking point) "just make sure your front tyre is already aligned with the driver you trying to overtake, rear tyre.".Don't worry about the contact because overtaking on the first hairpin always causes contact as it always catches people off guard, as no-one expects you to overtake there. The fourth is the second hairpin. Its only good for switch-backs but, because the way the track is this overtake is near impossible to actually pull off, against other skilled drivers. So, if I was you I wouldn't worry my head about this. It was just something I thought I should add, as sometimes possibilities can arise, and you can send it. I've never done a switch-back there, but I have had someone pulling a switch-back on me before, after sending it up on the inside of me, then we went side to side into the second hairpin. As, I said, its jear impossible for such a thing to happen so don't worry about this too, much.

The great thing with doing karting content is that the narrative of the video is basically written for you, the intro is arguably the most difficult part for me because I have to think of some way to make it engaging (it was only four days after I went to Leicester that I thought of the cheese joke lmao) after that, it's just the case of cutting up the interesting bits, recording the commentary, putting some nice transition effects in there, then the ending chat and all that
@KartsAgainstHumanity9 ай бұрын
@@PericoKarting So it's a case of extracting a narrative/story from the footage (IE: this happened and these events led up to it, like how you got spun at Warrington, or fought backmarkers at Coventry) and trying to tell that throughout the course of the video, if I've understood that correctly? Cutting the content down to the important bits to do so, then adding the pizazz with the transitions and stuff. I struggle with where to go with mine as I don't know what to include - a constant battle between wanting to include whole laps and just the interesting bits (say, your content Vs RobGoesRacing - very different content but both enjoyable in their own way) The intro has been the easy part for me so far, it's continuing past that I've gotten stuck. Hopefully I can make something work with what you've said though, thanks man :)
